Banks and building societies often offer cash incentives to new customers willing to make a full switch from their existing current account
Santander has launched a brand new switching incentive and is paying new customers £180 to move their banking to them.
The offer was launched on May 29, and the high street banking giant says both new and existing customers are eligible if they switch to its Everyday, Edge, Edge Up, or Private current account.

Banks and building societies often offer cash incentives to new customers willing to make a full switch from their existing current account. Switching offers are also considered an easy way to get some cash.

To get Santander's incentive, you need to close and switch your current account using the Current Account Switch Service (CASS). This is a free service which will move your balance, direct debits, and salary over to the new bank within seven days.

With bank switching offers, you often need to jump through a few hoops to be eligible for the money. These often include having to deposit a certain amount of money into the account or having to log in to online or mobile banking.

With Santander, new customers will need to pay at least £1,500 into their Santander account within 60 days of the switching request. This doesn't need to be done all at once, and can be sent over through multiple payments. New customers will also need to set up at least two active household direct debits within 60 days.

Anthony Warrington, Head of Banking at Santander UK, said: 'Summer is fast approaching, and many people will be saving up for the holidays - whether it be for that trip abroad, festival, or day out with the family. That's why we're pleased to be introducing our new £180 switcher incentive, providing even more value for customers making the move to Santander.
"It's a simple, straightforward way to get rewarded for switching, while benefitting from our range of popular current accounts – making your money go that little bit further this summer.'

Jurgen Klopp's three-word response to huge Florian Wirtz transfer speaks volumes

Liverpool confirmed the signing of top transfer target Florian Wirtz on Friday, having agreed a deal with Bayer Leverkusen to sign him for a British-record £116million fee Jurgen Klopp has offered his seal of approval to Liverpool's new £116million signing, Florian Wirtz. The German playmaker, 22, has joined the Reds on a five-year contract after completing a British-record move from Bayer Leverkusen. Wirtz was Liverpool's top target going into the summer transfer window and they've managed to beat Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich to his signature. The deal is comprised of £100m paid to Leverkusen upfront with a further £16m in potential add-ons. ‌ It's by far the biggest signing made since Klopp departed Anfield, with his successor, Arne Slot, having led the Reds to the Premier League title in his first season. Slot's reward is to work with a top talent like Wirtz and Klopp has no doubts that he'll be 'really, really great' on Merseyside. ‌ During an interview with to German broadcaster RTL, the former Liverpool boss was asked to give his verdict of the transfer. "It will be really, really great," Klopp replied. "I'm sure of it." The legendary manager went on to say: "It's very difficult to strengthen them when you're champions. But Liverpool have managed that. They've signed an exceptional talent in Florian Wirtz." Wirtz had the pick of some of Europe's best clubs but he and his family felt that Liverpool was the perfect next step. "I just thought that it was the right point in my career to make the next step and of course I wanted to get to a club that is from the top three in the world, and in my opinion Liverpool was one of them," the 31-time Germany international explained. "Yeah, I just saw myself in the best hands in Liverpool. I was really convinced by the people here, by the idea, and everything what the club offers me was really good. And in the end [it was] also easy to be excited for me to come to Liverpool. Will Florian Wirtz live up to his £116m price tag at Liverpool? Give us your prediction in the comments section. ‌ "It was not that easy for me, for sure, because I am a German player, I play for the Germany national team. So, it was not easy for me to decide but I think the talks with the coach and Richard [Hughes, Liverpool's sporting director] and everybody were, from the start or from the very first time, so good and it just kept going like this. "Every time I spoke to one of the [people from] the club I felt like, 'this is the place I want to be' and so in the end I was really 100 percent convinced I want to join Liverpool and it was the best choice." WhatsApp will start featuring ads. Here's what it means for you

'These days companies know literally everything about you, your friends, your interests, and they use it all to sell ads … Remember, when advertising is involved, you, the user, are the product.' These words were published in 2012, under the headline 'Why we don't sell ads'. The company that put its name to them? WhatsApp, the instant-messaging app that was then run by co-founders Jan Koum and Brian Acton, and charged users an annual fee of 99 cents. Two years later, they sold their business to Mark Zuckerberg's ad-funded social media behemoth, Meta, which already owned Facebook and Instagram. And for the past decade, the question has been 'when' not 'if' WhatsApp would reverse its founding principle. Last week, as leaders from the tech and media world gathered on the south coast of France for the annual Cannes Lions advertising festival, Zuckerberg's team made its move.

Premier League legend declared bankrupt as £2m house listed on court order

Lee Clark's bank accounts, savings and other valuable assets could be used to pay his unsecured creditors if he does not address the debt, according to an order made A former Premier League star has been declared bankrupt over a debt to a business finance firm. Lee Clark, who played for Newcastle United, Sunderland and Fulham, said he 'had no idea' about the order made against him today. It was filed with the London Gazette. The petitioner was a finance firm called One Stop Business based in York. It will result in all of the former midfielder's assets being frozen under the control of the Insolvency Service. ‌ His bank accounts, savings and other valuable assets could be used to pay his unsecured creditors if he does not address the debt. He told the Mirror that he was unaware of the bankruptcy order when we called at his £2m mansion in Jesmond, Newcastle. ‌ Asked about being made bankrupt, he said: "I have no idea," before going back into the property. When we called again, he added: "I have no comment to make. I know nothing. Don't keep pressing the buzzer." Clark, who made over 200 appearances during two spells at Newcastle United, also enjoyed successful promotions into the Premier League with Fulham and Sunderland. He played more than 400 top flight games and represented his country with England under 21s. He began his career at Newcastle and was part of Kevin Keegan 's 'Entertainers' in the 1990s. He made a high profile £2.5m move to Sunderland in 1997. But he angered their fans during his time under manager Peter Reid. He was spotted wearing a T-shirt bearing a derogatory slogan aimed at 'Sad Mackem B******s' at the 1999 FA Cup final. He did not play for the club again, but moved to Fulham before a brief return to Newcastle. After his playing career ended in 2006, he was manager at Huddersfield, Birmingham City and Blackpool and also had spells in Sudan and Oman. His son Bobby played for Liverpool before joining RB Salzburg. ‌ Clark had been a popular and highly-rated player during his time at Sunderland. He was part of the team that won promotion from the old Division One during the 1998/99 season. Clark had even captained the club at times. He has also worked recently as a TV and radio pundit. Asked whether he would want Sunderland to win the play-off final by ex-Black Cats striker Ally McCoist on talkSPORT, Clark said: "Do you know what Ally? "I've said this all the time, and my pals will tell you this, whoever spoke to us, I want Sunderland in the Premier League. I want the derby games back. I would love Middlesbrough in the Premier League. I want the North East clubs back. "Let's get North East football back on the map."
