IIM Indore director professor Himanshu Rai delivered a lecture on 'Transformative Leadership and Visionary Governance.' He highlighted selfless action and ethical administration through verses from the Bhagavad Gita, stressing that work should be done for its inherent rightness, not merely for its results.
Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, former president of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, shared his thoughts on 'Culture, Good Governance, and Nation-Building.' He said, "India's unity is not only geographical but also cultural and spiritual. Nation-building is possible not just through policies or resources, but through cultural consciousness and ethical values.' He underscored the significance of Antyodaya, prioritising the welfare of the last person in society.

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) issued an order to Indian tennis stars who have received financial assistance through various schemes to prioritise representing the nation and added that failure to turn up for national duty without valid justification would result in the recovery of funds from the players. SAI instructed players receiving support from schemes such as TOPS, NSF and TAGG to confirm their intent and availability to represent the tricolour at events such as the Davis Cup, Billie Jean King Cup, Asian Games and Olympics. SAI asked players who receive assistance from the Target Asian Games Group to pen an acknowledgement that the financial support carries with it the responsibility to contribute to the nation's sporting goals. 'The above tennis competitions hold significant national pride. Therefore, it is important that all players benefiting from the support, provided under these schemes prioritize representing India if selected by the All India Tennis Association," the order read. 'We would also like to inform you that, in the event of selection by the NSF, should you decide not to participate without valid justification, the financial assistance provided to date will be subject to recovery in accordance with the applicable guidelines," it continued. 'The government wanted the players to be accountable and there is nothing wrong in it. The government has added players names for support but it also wants them to be available for national duty when required," Rajpal said. 'An excellent move. Chhattisgarh to widen government appointments for kin of cops killed in Maoist violence

The Chhattisgarh Cabinet on Wednesday [January 18, 2025] approved a proposal to amend the rules for government appointments on compassionate grounds for the family members of police personnel killed in Maoist violence in the State. 'Now, in cases where a police officer is martyred in Naxalite violence, any eligible family member (male or female) may opt for a compassionate appointment in any department across any district or division of the State. Previously, such appointments were generally restricted to the same department or office where the deceased was employed,' an official said, after the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. In doing so, the Cabinet has amended Clause 13(3) of the Unified Revised Guidelines–2013 for compassionate appointments, the official added. Tiger foundation society The Cabinet also decided to set up a tiger foundation society to address the dwindling population of big cats in Chhattisgarh, and take measures for their conservation, the official said. The Chhattisgarh Tiger Foundation Society will function under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. A similar society has been operational in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh since 1996, an official statement added.
