Adnec Group has announced that Tawazun Council will serve as a Sector Enabling Partner for Defence in the fourth edition of Make it in the Emirates.
As the UAE's flagship industrial investment platform, Make it in the Emirates 2025 is a key driver of manufacturing and technological advancement, providing a global platform for innovation, collaboration, and investment.
Dr Nasser Humaid Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of Tawazun Council, said: 'Tawazun Council's participation in Make it in the Emirates reflects its commitment to supporting the UAE's strategic vision of building an advanced and sustainable national industrial base. Taking place at Adnec Centre Abu Dhabi from May 19 to 22, 2025, Make it in the Emirates is hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, organised by Adnec Group, and held in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Culture, the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, and Adnoc. Spanning 50,000 sq m, the event promotes industrial growth and sustainability. With participation from over 500 exhibiting companies, across 12 key sectors, Make it in the Emirates serves as a catalyst for investment, innovation, and market expansion.
Since its founding in 1992, that Tawazun Council has been instrumental in promoting technological modernism, economic diversification, and strengthening the UAE's defence and security sectors. By facilitating strategic investments, advancing local manufacturing capabilities, and enabling SME growth, the Council has contributed to the establishment of over 90 companies and investment vehicles across 11 key sectors, including defence manufacturing.
As a Sector Enabling Partner, Tawazun Council will use its expertise to enhance localisation efforts, attract investment, and accelerate the adoption of advanced technologies in the UAE's industrial ecosystem. Dubai has flicked the switch on its developing gaming industry as it targets 30,000 new jobs and a $1bn GDP boost from the sector by 2033. The Dubai Programme for Gaming 2033 'DPG33' has announced that Dubai is home to more than 350 gaming companies, with 260 of them categorised as specialised game developers, contributing overall to a global industry valued at $200bn globally. Since the programme's launch in November 2023, more than 60 new companies have been established in Dubai of which 12 per cent are large global companies — marking a growth rate of 16.6 percent since the launch of the programme. The gaming industry has emerged as one of Dubai's most promising economic sectors in recent years. Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation, said: 'The recent achievements in the Dubai's gaming industry reflects the success of the city's vision for its future economy — one built on economic diversification and the proactive investment in current and future development opportunities. Belhoul added: 'The gaming sector holds unprecedented economic potential, and Dubai was — and will remain — a land of opportunity and a destination for innovators and creators. The industry offers a wealth of unprecedented opportunities thanks to the supportive ecosystem for entrepreneurs and innovative ideas in advanced technology sectors, particularly game development, which is a key driver in enhancing Dubai's global competitiveness and in achieving the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).' Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of DFF, launched the Dubai Programme for Gaming 2033 in November 2023, to position Dubai among the world's top 10 global gaming hubs over the next decade, with 30,000 new jobs and a $1bn boost to GDP by 2033. EDGE signs $2.45bn naval contract with Kuwait

EDGE, one of the world's leading advanced technology and defence groups, has signed a AED9 billion ($2.45 billion) defence contract with the Kuwait Ministry of Defence for the supply of Falaj3 62-metre missile boats. This contract marks the largest naval shipbuilding export in the region and ranks among the highest-value naval export deals globally. As the prime contractor, EDGE will lead the programme which includes the design, construction, trials, and delivery of the vessels, in addition to Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and In-Service Support (ISS). EDGE will also provide the ammunition for the vessels, further demonstrating its end-to-end capability offering. Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), EDGE Group's naval arm and the UAE's leading shipbuilder, has been selected as the build subcontractor for the programme. Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO, EDGE, said: 'This agreement with Kuwait is hugely significant both in scale and strategic importance. It deepens long-term defence ties between our nations, brings a proven class of advanced vessels into regional service, and reinforces EDGE's position as a trusted international partner. It also reflects the pace of industrial and engineering progress we've achieved in just a few years, and our ability to design, build, and deliver complex naval platforms at scale. The Falaj 3-class missile boat has also been selected by the UAE Navy, with the first vessel, Altaf, formally commissioned into service in February 2025. This operational deployment reflects the vessel's proven capability and performance in regional waters. With the latest agreement, these advanced 62-metre vessels are tailored to meet Kuwait's operational requirements, offering high performance, advanced combat systems, and enhanced capabilities for littoral defence operations.

IHC makes strong mark at MIITE with $1.52bn deals

IHC, a global investment company focused on building dynamic value networks, made an impactful presence at the Make it in the Emirates (MIITE) Forum 2025 announcing 30+ strategic deals and 12 new products, factory expansions and facility launches worth AED5.6 billion ($1.52 billion). MITTE was hosted by the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology in Abu Dhabi last week. Over four days, IHC gathered over 25 group companies under its pavilion, establishing itself as a hub of strategic deal-making and industrial leadership, with over 30 major announcements and active engagement across 27 panel sessions driving forward the UAE's future-focused agenda. Reinforcing its role as a catalyst for national progress, IHC and its group companies contributed to over AED5.6 billion in industry commitments (projected value over the next 5 years) through MoU signings, product launches, factory expansions, and new facilities. In parallel, IHC and its subsidiaries forged 107 new potential partnerships, particularly in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), Industry 4.0, data centers, and energy transition technologies. IHC leveraged its presence at MIITE 2025 to unveil transformative technologies and announce strategic collaborations across its priority sectors. A headline initiative was the launch of the UAE's first marketplace for AI, built in the Emirates, featuring SAIF (Smart Artificial Intelligence Facilitator)—world's first AI agent designed to accelerate developer access to GPUs and large language models. Clean energy and sustainability were central to IHC's agenda this year. EPointZero, the decarbonization platform of 2PointZero, signed a landmark 1 GWh battery storage deal with Enercap by Apex Energy—one of the largest energy storage transactions globally this year. In a complementary move, Enercap also partnered with ROX Motor to power its next-generation electric vehicles with locally developed supercapacitor systems, advancing the UAE's EV manufacturing ecosystem and accelerating the transition to a circular, low-carbon economy. Aldar became the region's first developer to adopt hydrogen-based steel rebars from Emsteel, which will be used in building Abu Dhabi's first net-zero carbon mosque—marking a milestone in sustainable construction and material innovation. Further reinforcing its climate strategy, EPointZero and International Resources Holding (IRH), a mine-to-market platform under the IHC Group, signed an agreement to drive full decarbonization across IRH's global mining operations—advancing IHC's commitment to sustainable industrial transformation at scale. Further underscoring the UAE's industrial self-reliance and technological ambition, Orbitworks—the nation's next-generation satellite manufacturing venture—unveiled Altair, a 10-satellite, AI-enabled Earth observation constellation that will be assembled and integrated in Abu Dhabi.
