Prefer Indian toys over Labudu
Toysare the ultimate fascination for every kid and sometimes to every person no matter one's age. There is no doubt that we all had a fascination for soft toys, especially dolls, which are among the most adorable parts of our childhood memories. From Barbie to traditional cloth doll of every region, soft toys are among the sweetest delights for many of us, and our children. But these days the world, as well as the internet, is obsessed with possessing the cute Chinese dolls named Labubu. Made by Pop Mart International, they are priced between Rs 3, 000 and a whopping Rs 1.50 lakh in India. Although the doll has been rolling in the Chinese market since 2015, it peaked due to K-Pop star Lisa, who fuelled their popularity, by showing it as her collection. Incidentally, from Hollywood stars like Rihanna and Justin Bieber to Bollywood actors like Annaya Pandey, many from the world of cinema are all obsessed with Labubu. Pop Mart International minted millions by selling the miniature fashion-sensation dolls. To the avant-garde marketing tactics, Pop Mart International uses blind box selling strategies for their life-sized dolls branded as luxury collectibles. In an unfortunate development, its rising popularity and heavy export orders have been directly sponging the potential revenue of Indian toy industry to China. This is more so because many Indians are taking pride in owning Labubu. Earlier on, Chinese products shattered Indian toy industry by introducing cheap toys or exclusive luxury collections. Instead of supporting state-of-the-art home grown toys like Thanjavur dolls, Channapatna dolls or Kondapalli dolls, many of us are getting influenced by the viral social media trends and going in for a Labubu doll in our drawing room. Luxury obsession with Indian dolls could help turn the tide and fortunes of our local toys' makers. All we need is to love Indian toys as much as we do the new sensation Labubu. We need to support Indian toys startups and local makers and boost the economic conditions of the Indian toy industry, which is facing severe challenges from Labubu and other luxury toys collectibles of foreign brands. Like 'Make in India', we should also promote Indian workmanship. Kirti Wadhawan,Kanpur Nagar (UP)

Meet actor whose debut film was superhit, than delivered 7 flops in a row, later made a comeback with Rs 400 crore hit, his name is..., film is...
This actor entered the world of cinema with dreams of becoming a leading hero, but fate had different plans. Despite giving his best, he faced one failure after another, 11 films that couldn't win the audience. Just when his career seemed to be slipping into oblivion, a multi-starrer film came his way, not as the hero, but as the antagonist. Ironically, it was the dark shade of the villain's role that illuminated his talent. That performance not only won hearts but also resurrected his journey in Bollywood, proving, 'you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.' Bollywood Actor Arjun Kapoor Here we are talking about Arjun Kapoor, who began his career with the hit film 'Ishaqzaade' in 2012. Despite a strong start, several of his subsequent films, such as 'Aurangzeb' and 'Finding Fanny', struggled at the box office, with only 'Gunday' and 'Two States' performing moderately well. After experiencing 7 consecutive flops, he revitalized his career by taking on a villain role in 'Singham Again'. This shift shows that embracing darker characters can lead to a successful comeback. However, his list of unsuccessful films includes 'Finding Fanny', 'Tevar', 'Mubarakan', 'Namaste England', 'India's Most Wanted', 'Panipat', 'Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar', and 'Half Girlfriend', which was average. Other films like 'Ki & Ka', 'Kuttey', 'Ek Villain Returns', and 'Lady Killer' also contributed to the decline of Arjun Kapoor's career. Arjun Kapoor as an Antagonist Following this period, Arjun Kapoor decided to portray a villain on the big screen. His performance in Rohit Shetty's action thriller 'Singham Again' garnered significant attention. In the movie, he excelled in the role of the villain Danger Lanka, providing tough competition to Ajay Devgn's iconic character Bajirao Singham. Released in 2024, the action-thriller marked a turning point, making Arjun Kapoor a star once more. The film also featured other prominent actors, including Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Ranveer Singh. The total earnings of the film worldwide reached Rs 400 crore. Arjun Kapoor's Recently Released Film Arjun Kapoor's film 'Mere Husband Ki Biwi' was released in 2025. Alongside him, Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh played lead roles. Unfortunately, the movie received mixed reviews from critics, and the audience did not respond well to the story. As a result, it flopped at the box office. Made at a cost of Rs 60 crore, 'Mere Husband Ki Biwi' underperformed upon release. According to a report from Bollywood Hungama, the film earned Rs 9.38 crore in India, with total worldwide earnings of Rs 12.73 crore. The verdict for Arjun Kapoor's 'Mere Husband Ki Biwi' is a flop.

Watch: 'DSP' Mohammed Siraj On Duty, Inspects England Player's Bat In Leeds
Last Updated: 'DSP' Mohammed Siraj was captured inspecting Ollie Pope's bat during Day 2 of the Headingley Test. Indian fast-bowler Mohammed Siraj brought back the 'DSP' jokes on Sunday by 'inspecting' England batter Ollie Pope's bat during the first Test between India and England at Headingley. In a video posted by Star Sports on X, Pope's Gray-Nicolls can be seen leaning on the stumps during a drinks break on the second day of the Test. Siraj walked towards it, picked it up, took his guard and then checked it again before putting it back where it was. Watch the hilarious clip here: Telangana state police force gave Siraj an honorary position of Deputy Superintendent of Police in October 2024, recognizing his achievements as a cricketer — a news that sparked several cricket memes. The humor has spilled to the cricket field, too, with crowds during IPL often chanting, 'DSP' when he's involved. Siraj's off-day at Headingley Pope troubled India with that bat on Saturday. The number three batter scored a quick 131-ball century with 13 fours to carry his bat at stumps. With support from Ben Duckett's 62 and Joe Root's 28, England ended the day solidly at 209/3, 262 runs behind India's first innings score of 471. The visitors were not up to it from the start. A bit too aggressive batting in the lower order led to a collapse and what looked like a certain 500-plus score fell well short. Then, they had good bowling conditions at the start of the second innings but took just one wicket, before allowing a 122-run stand between Pope and Duckett. All three wickets were taken by Bumrah (he could've had more if not for dropped catches and no-balls) in his 13 overs as other bowlers looked toothless and inconsistent. Siraj bowled the most overs, 14, and showed heart and precision in some spells but lacked overall impact, making India look over-reliant on Bumrah again. As the second senior pacer, he'd want to put up a better show on Sunday as India aim to restrict England and take a first-innings lead. First Published: June 22, 2025, 08:11 IST
