Two youngsters put for a midnight ride on a Ducati Scrambler lost their lives after the bike broke through an iron guardrail and plunged into a seven-foot-deep pit dug for the construction of an underpass on the Taj Highway near Char Murti roundabout in Greater Noida on Tuesday, reported TOI.The police said that the rider was speeding and may have lost control of the bike. Sandbags placed beyond the safety rails could not break their fall.Ankur Singh (28) had picked up his friend, Kashish (25) at around around 2.30 am from her flat in 14th Avenue society, about 2.4km from Gaur Chowk, minutes before the crash.They were likely headed to Singh's apartment in Panchsheel Green 2, which is in Greater Noida West.The police received a call in the early hours of Tuesday and rushed a team Bisrakh to the spot. "It appears the bike smashed into a safety railing of the underpass site and fell into the pit," a senior officer told TOI.The officer is that it is likely that the two landed on construction materials and machinery left at the site and suffered severe injuries. They were rushed to District Hospital in Sector 39, but died on the way."Both had died by the time they were brought to the hospital," District Hospital CMS Renu Aggarwal said.Both the victims were not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, police said. With no eyewitnesses at that hour, investigators are relying on CCTV footage and forensic examination of the crash site.The motorcycle, a premium model priced at Rs 9 lakh, was left largely undamaged, they said.Both Singh and Kashish were employed in private companies. The police could not reach Singh's family on Tuesday. Kashish's family members, on the other hand, were on their way to Noida from Allahabad.Police say the investigation is ongoing, and they are working to determine the precise sequence of events leading to the crash.Greater Noida Authority additional CEO Prerna Singh told TOI that there are diversions and barricades in place around the Char Murti roundabout for the construction of the underpass."It appears the bike was speeding. We have ordered immediate reinforcement of safety measures at the site, including the installation of reflective tapes, stronger barriers, and better lighting. "A coordination meeting with the traffic police will be convened soon to ensure personnel are present at the site during night hours," she said.The under-construction underpass at the Char Murti roundabout, also known as Gaur Chowk, is part of a major infrastructure project to ease traffic congestion in Greater Noida West.The 700-metre, six-lane underpass on the Taj Highway is designed to help commuters from Surajpur bypass the roundabout and directly connect to Gaur City and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.The traffic in the area was temporarily stopped even as the construction continued. Key sections of the carriageway have been blocked due to digging at the main intersection, forcing vehicles to take detours via service lanes and U-turns.

Thane Anti-Corruption Bureau nabs CIDCO clerk taking Rs 1.5 lakh bribe for processing retired employee's dues
THANE: A junior clerk working with the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) was caught red-handed by the Thane unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh on behalf of his two senior colleagues for processing and clearing dues of a retired employee. The complainant recently retired from CIDCO in Navi Mumbai and was entitled to receive dues, including gratuity and interest, from the govt-owned organisation. However, to approve the disbursement of that amount, the employee needed to complete certain formalities, for which he approached the junior clerk, identified as Narendra Hire, for assistance. Much to the shock of the retired employee, the junior clerk allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 4.5 lakh to assist with the formalities required for the disbursement of the amount. "The clerk demanded Rs 3 lakh on behalf of a senior administrative personnel, another Rs 1 lakh for the departmental inquiry officer to ensure freedom from any departmental inquiry required before clearance of the disbursal. In addition, the clerk sought Rs 50,000 for himself — totalling Rs 4.5 lakh," informed an ACB official. Irked by this demand, the complainant approached the Thane unit of the ACB, which initially ascertained the allegations and, upon verification, laid a trap on June 20 for the clerk. Hire was caught red-handed while accepting ₹1.5 lakh from the complainant. A case is now registered against him.

"Mera baap chor hai...": Bihar Dy CM Samrat Chowdhary compares Amitabh Bachchan's film dailogue with RJD's fodder scam
Patna (Bihar) [India], June 21 (ANI): Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Saturday took a dig at the Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav, drawing parallels between the fodder scam and the iconic Bollywood film 'Deewar' starring Amitabh Bachchan. There is a famous dialogue in the film, where Amitabh Bachchan confronts with Shashi Kapoor, with the harsh reality of their father's criminal past - 'Mera baap chor hai,' the Bihar DY CM draws similarities with Tejashwi's father Lalu Prasad Yadav. Samrat Chaudhary highlighted the iconic dialogue, 'mera baap chor hai' (my father is thief) is written in the hands of Amitabh Bachchan. He said Tejashwi Yadav will also have to write the same phrase on his hands. 'Fodder was stolen in Bihar. There is a film of Amitabh Bachchan in which 'mera baap chor hai' is written on his hand. Tejashwi Yadav will also have to write the same', Samrat Chowdhary said. Lalu Prasad Yadav was convicted by a special CBI court in 2017. Former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was found guilty of illegal withdrawals of Rs 139.35 crore from the Doranda treasury by a special CBI court in Jharkhand's Ranchi. The 900-crore fodder scam cases first cropped up in 1996 and charge-sheet was filed against Lalu Yadav by CBI in 1997. The trial began in 2002 in the special CBI court at Ranchi. In 2013, he was convicted in the 1st fodder scam case and sentenced to 5 years imprisonment along with Rs 25 lakh fine. In 2017, the CBI court had convicted Lalu Yadav and 15 others and the current one is for the 2nd of six fodder scam cases. The 2nd case pertains to embezzling of about Rs 89 lakh from the Deoghar Treasury in the 1991-94 period. Significantly, Lalu Yadav and 7 others were sentenced with 3.5 years imprisonment along with a fine of 5 lakhs each. Earlier, Bihar Deputy CMs Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha took part in the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations in Patna. Vijay Sinha hailed Yoga and said that it has been accepted by 176 countries of the world. Sinha stated that Yoga makes the body 'pure' and 'healthy' and connects with humanity.
