Karuppu is the title of Tamil superstar Suriya's upcoming film with director RJ Balaji, the makers announced on Friday (June 20) with a title-look poster. The news was announced on the occassion of Balaji's 40th birthday.
The poster features a silhouette of a sickle-wielding Suriya standing before what appears to be a Karuppusamy temple. The poster hints at a raw and rustic mass action entertainer on cards.
Karuppu stars actor Trisha as the female lead, marking a reunion with Suriya after nearly two decades. The cast of the film also features Swasika, Indrans, Sshivada, Anagha Maya Ravi, Yogi Babu, Natty, and Supreeth Reddy among others
With music scored by Sai Abhyankkar of 'Katchi Sera' and 'Aasa Kooda' fame, the film has cinematography by GK Vishnu and editing by R Kalaivanan. Anbariv and Vikram Mor have served as the action choreographers.
Produced by SR Prabu and SR Prakash Babu of Dream Warrior Pictures, Karuppu is currently in its final leg of shooting. According to a press release, the makers are eyeing a release in theatres on a festival day.

Directed by H. Vinoth and backed by KVN Productions, the film, a magnum opus, has triggered huge expectations as it's the final act of one of Tamil cinema's most bankable stars. The film is being looked upon as a tribute to Vijay's extraordinary journey, both on-screen and beyond. Releasing just ahead of Makar Sankranti and Pongal (January 14, 2026), Jana Nayagan is expected to set the cash registers ringing at the box office. Already, the film has been garnering a lot of attention with its first-look poster setting the Internet on fire. The film has a talented cast and an exceptionally gifted technical crew. Pooja Hegde plays the female lead in this film, which will also feature a host of stars including actors Mamitha Baiju, Bollywood star Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj, director Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani and Narain. On the technical front, the film will have cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan and music by one of India's top music directors, Anirudh.
