Netflix has released the official trailer for KPop Demon Hunters, an animated action-musical from Sony Pictures Animation, directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans.
KPop Demon Hunters follows Rumi, Mira, and Zoey—K-pop idols by day, secret demon hunters by night—as they battle supernatural threats while maintaining their music careers. Their biggest challenge arrives in the form of a rival demon boy band, testing their strength and loyalty.
The film features a soundtrack crafted by top K-pop producers Teddy Park, 24, Danny Chung, Ido, Vince, Kush, and Dominsuk of TheBlackLabel. The original songs are performed by artists including Ejae, Rei Ami, Andrew Choi, Kevin Woo, Samuil Lee, Neckwav, and Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung of Twice.
'I have been a fan of these incredible artists and their work for many years,' said director Maggie Kang. 'It's a dream come true to have original songs written and produced by TheBlackLabel and to collaborate with members of Twice. It legitimises our film in the K-pop world.'
Co-director Chris Appelhans added, 'We have an amazing voice cast. Byung Hun Lee and Ahn Hyo-seop bring authentic K-drama emotion, while Arden, May, and Ji-young combine star charisma with the humour and depth of young women leading double lives.'
KPop Demon Hunters will premiere globally on June 20.

Netflix drops ‘The Waterfront', inspired by creator's real-life family drug ties

Netflix's new drama The Waterfront, which premiered on June 19, takes viewers deep into a coastal town torn apart by secrets, legacy, and survival—and it's rooted in real life. The eight-episode series comes from Kevin Williamson, the mind behind Scream, Dawson's Creek, and The Vampire Diaries. This time, Williamson delivers a raw, personal story inspired by his own father's descent into drug smuggling in the 1980s. The series stars Holt McCallany, Maria Bello, Melissa Benoist, and Jake Weary as members of the Buckley family, who were once-respected figures in the fictional town of Havenport, North Carolina. Once dominant in the local fishing industry, the Buckleys are now unraveling amid addiction, financial hardship, and long-buried betrayals. Behind the family's polished public image is a messy tangle of secrets and a willingness to do whatever it takes to maintain control—even if it means turning on one another. While the Buckleys are fictional, the emotional core of the story is deeply personal to Williamson. In recent interviews, the showrunner shared that his father, a fisherman by trade, began smuggling drugs during hard times to support the family. The consequences of that decision left a mark on Williamson's childhood and have stayed with him since. 'This is the story I've been circling for decades,' he said, referencing how the themes of loss, identity, and buried secrets have been present throughout his career—from slasher films like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer to coming-of-age dramas. The Waterfront offers a gritty, emotionally charged look at the cost of survival and legacy—with Williamson finally confronting a story he's been carrying most of his life.

Anna Camp and girlfriend Jade Whipkey make red carpet debut

Anna Camp and her girlfriend, Jade Whipkey made their first official public appearance as a couple on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of Bride Hard. The Pitch Perfect actress, 42, and Whipkey, 24, posed affectionately for photos, smiling and locking eyes as they attended the event together. Their red-carpet debut comes just a month after the couple confirmed their romance, following public sightings in Los Angeles where they were seen sharing a kiss. Camp's new relationship marks her first public romance since her 2019 split from actor Skylar Astin, her ex-husband of nearly three years and fellow Pitch Perfect co-star. Camp stars in Bride Hard, which also reunites her on-screen with Rebel Wilson. The action comedy blends romantic chaos and spy movie tropes, with Wilson in the lead role. Camp's appearance in the film is being met with excitement, especially as fans see her back alongside her former co-star. In addition to her film work, Camp recently made headlines for her appearance on the Netflix thriller You, where she played a dual role as twin sisters in the show's latest season—a turn that showcased her range beyond comedy. Jade Whipkey, a writer and creative, has largely kept a low profile, but her relationship with Camp has quickly gained attention as the pair continue to make waves both online and on the red carpet.

Ju Haknyeon disputes exit from THE BOYZ, says he never agreed to contract termination, agency responds

Ju Haknyeon has strongly denied claims that he has left K-pop group THE BOYZ, stating he never agreed to the termination of his exclusive contract. His agency, ONE HUNDRED, has now issued a formal response rejecting his accusations and defending its actions. Earlier this week, after news broke that he been kicked out of the group following a prostitution scandal with former Japanese adult actress Kirara Asuka, Ju Haknyeon addressed fans on Instagram, stating: 'I have never left the team and have never agreed to the termination of my exclusive contract.' He also challenged the media and his agency to present any proof of illegal activity following reports linking him to a meeting with th AV actress. Ju alleged the agency demanded ₩200 million KRW (around $145,000 USD) in compensation and pressured him to leave. 'I want to hold accountable the agency that unfairly kicked me out and insisted on terminating my contract without any basis,' he wrote. On June 20, ONE HUNDRED responded with a statement: 'We deeply regret the one-sided false claims made by Ju Haknyeon.' The agency explained the decision followed concerns that the situation would damage group promotions. They cited Article 6, Section 3 of his contract, stating the termination was due to 'acts that damage the dignity of the artist to the extent that cause interference with activities.' ONE HUNDRED said it considered the termination 'legitimate and reasonable' and warned: 'If he continues these claims, we will respond with strong legal actions.' The agency added that THE BOYZ will continue activities as scheduled, excluding Ju Haknyeon, and no further comments on the matter would be made.
