What have been the big stories in the West this week?
At the start of the week Bristol woke up to the news of a death at the half marathon event on the weekend.ITV West Country reported 28-year-old rugby player Jon Devereux, from Chester, died after after collapsing and falling ill at the Great Bristol Run.Bristol Live's article on the sudden closure of part of the Co-op car park in Westbury-on-Trym and some walls installed there also gained a lot of attention this week. Nearby residents are now calling for an investigation after the area was cordoned off with blue walls.The body found in the search for missing 16-year-old Athrun got a lot of reaction from ITV West Country and Bristol Live audiences. Searches had been ongoing in the West Shore area of Llandudno following the sighting of a body on Tuesday.Finally, news from The Dorset Echo, Somerset Live and ITV West Country on the temporary closure of Yeovil's maternity unit gained a lot of traction this week. In a statement the hospital trust told ITV West Country, it "cannot currently safely run the unit" or "safely provide care during labour and birth".

Man charged with rape after Nottingham city centre attack

A man has been charged with rape and sexual assault after an alleged attack in an alleyway in Nottingham city Healey, 43 and of no fixed address, has also been charged with administering a substance with intent to overpower someone and assault on an emergency Police were called to the scene in Canal Street at about 20:00 BST on Friday, with specially-trained officers supporting the victim, a 19-year-old Healey is expected to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Monday . Mystery as man found dead on major motorway with cops probing ‘unexplained' tragedy

A MAN has been found dead on a major motorway as police investigated the "unexplained" tragedy. Emergency crews rushed to the scene on the M90 northbound near the junction for Rosyth, Fife, around 8.15pm on June 21. The man was sadly pronounced dead not long after. Police had shut the motorway in both directions but it was later reopened at 10.45pm. Palestine Action member says potential ban ‘absurd'

A Palestine Action member has said the governments plans to proscribe the group, effectively branding them a terrorist organisation is "absurd." Saeed Taji Farouky said it "rips apart the very basic concepts of British democracy and the rule of law... something everyone should be terrified about." It is understood the home secretary is preparing a statement to put before Parliament on Monday, after Palestine Action activists broke into RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire and sprayed two planes with red paint. Farouky said Palestine Action's "whole reason for being is to break the material supply chain to genocide" and said Friday's incident was an "escalation in tactics because the genocide has escalated". Israel continues to deny allegations of genocide relating to the ongoing war in Gaza.
