India PR Distribution
New Delhi [India], June 20: Doctor of Economics and Professor at Complutense University of Madrid, Juan A. de Castro de Arespacochaga, emphasised the special significance of the session "Shaping a New Platform for Global Growth" that opened SPIEF-2025. This session set the tone for the forum's business program and the future economic agenda of global development. The expert shared his observations on the forum's sidelines in St. Petersburg from June 18 to 21.
"This was a key session because we had a truly open dialogue about the future. Of course, I think this will be important for Russia, BRICS, and those countries that today represent the global majority. These are countries that will become the leading seven states by 2050. Undoubtedly, this is important for Russia, but it's also important for the whole world. I was in Russia in 2023 and have come back now. Both then and now, I notice optimism, dynamics, and development here. And all the businesspeople and leaders here see this too," noted Juan A. de Castro de Arespacochaga.
According to the expert, the discussion that took place and the entire SPIEF-2025 will become a powerful impulse for the economic growth of Global South countries.
Tiago Rudiger, CEO of Tanssi Foundation, emphasised that the results of the National Centre "Russia" Open Dialogue, which played a special role in forming the forum's agenda, were the foundation of the session "Shaping a New Platform for Global Growth. " He added that without the large-scale event of NC "Russia," the substantive start of the SPIEF-2025 business block would not have taken place.
"I believe that the Open Dialogue several months ago in Moscow was an amazing event. It gave me great pleasure to participate in it and become part of such a large-scale event. The event was brilliantly organised, and the discussions on various issues and spheres proved productive. It was a diverse and open dialogue--exactly as it should be. The event featured a wide geography of participants and an extensive range of topics," shared the expert from Brazil.
SPIEF-2025 will take place in St. Petersburg from June 18 to 21. Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin moderated the session "Shaping a New Platform for Global Growth." At the session organised by NC "Russia," participants discussed the report on the results of the Open Dialogue prepared by the Centre for Cross-Industry Expertise "Third Rome."

National Conference may approach Supreme Court over J-K statehood delay: Former CM Farooq Abdullah
Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 21 (ANI): Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah on Saturday cautioned that his party may be left with no choice but to approach the Supreme Court if the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir continues to be delayed. Speaking to reporters, Abdullah said, 'It's been eight months (since the J&K government was formed). I am hopeful that when statehood is restored here, we will also get (administrative) powers... Our stand is that we are waiting (for J&K statehood). But if there are delays, we will have no option but to go to the Supreme Court,' His remarks come at a time when the NC continues to push for the restoration of both statehood and the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, which was revoked by the Centre in August 2019 through the abrogation of Article 370. The move had also led to the bifurcation of the former state into two Union Territories--Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. The NC's renewed warning follows a meeting of its Working Committee held at the party headquarters in Srinagar under the chairmanship of Farooq Abdullah. The committee adopted seven resolutions covering key political, security, and civil rights issues, with the demand for restoration of special status and statehood being central. 'The Working Committee unanimously reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir's special status. The Committee reiterated that this is central to the aspirations and dignity of the people and must be addressed without further delay. We will continue to fight for its restoration,' the resolution read. The party also reiterated its call for the restoration of full statehood, pointing to commitments made both in Parliament and by the Supreme Court. 'The Working Committee also urged the Government of India to restore full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir immediately, as promised on the floor of Parliament, repeatedly echoed in the public domain, and also committed by the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court,' the NC said. Meanwhile, on a separate issue, Farooq Abdullah voiced concern over the escalating tensions in the Middle East, urging all parties to exercise restraint. 'I pray that God gives wisdom to Iran and Israel both. Trump should talk about peace. This conflict can only be solved with peace,' he said, underscoring the need for diplomatic solutions amid rising hostilities. (ANI)

L-G's office undermining democratic governance in J&K: NC Jammu chief
National Conference's (NC) provincial president Rattan Lal Gupta expressed "serious concern" on Saturday (June 21, 2025) over the interference of the Lieutenant Governor's office in the functioning of the democratically elected government in Jammu and Kashmir. He described the situation as "undemocratic, unconstitutional and deeply troubling" for the people of the Union Territory. Interacting with senior party functionaries at the Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, Mr. Gupta urged the BJP-led Centre to immediately intervene and ensure that constitutional norms are upheld in letter and spirit. "The Business Rules must be sent back to the elected government without any further delay and the L-G's office should step back from managing the departments falling under the government's domain. The will of the people cannot be held hostage to bureaucratic overreach," he said. "India is a democratic country where governments are elected by people and their mandate must be respected," the NC leader added. "The people of Jammu and Kashmir have chosen their representatives with the hope that, as assured by the prime minister and the (Union) home minister, full statehood would be restored and the democratic machinery would function smoothly. "But, unfortunately, eight months have passed and the Centre has miserably failed to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, and the L-G's office has still not sent back the Business Rules to the elected government," he said. Mr. Gupta said that although the home department, including law and order, remains under the L-G's exclusive control, the rest of the departments are under the government. "Yet, the L-G's office continues to meddle in day-to-day governance, creating a dual power structure that is causing institutional confusion and administrative chaos," he said. Mr. Gupta said if the government, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, does something in the larger public interest, the L-G's office must appreciate that, but "it thinks otherwise". "Such actions are sending a wrong message that the people's mandate is being undermined and disrespected," he said, adding that such overreach is further alienating the public, especially in a region already grappling with administrative chaos. "Jammu and Kashmir is a border state. Instead of enabling the elected government to function freely and deliver governance, the L-G's office is acting otherwise," he said.
