Cairo, Egypt: In a significant move to establish a unified and actionable vision for Egypt's real estate and urban development sector, Cityscape Egypt 2025 has officially launched with the formation of a high-level steering committee. The committee convened its inaugural meeting on May 6 in the New Administrative Capital, bringing together senior government leaders to discuss investment strategies and opportunities across Egypt. This milestone sets the stage for a structured dialogue to align national priorities with market needs and define the strategic roadmap for the Egypt Real Estate Summit 2025, scheduled for September.
The committee will serve as the central decision-making body for the summit, ensuring it delivers policy-relevant outcomes to advance one of Egypt's most critical economic sectors. It is designed to foster long-term collaboration among ministries, regulators, investors, and developers, enabling cross-sector investment beyond just real estate.
With Egypt undertaking some of the region's most ambitious urban transformation projects, from next-generation smart cities to climate-resilient infrastructure, the committee plays a pivotal role in aligning the summit with Egypt Vision 2030. Its mission includes developing a cross-sector roadmap that integrates real estate with investment, infrastructure, tourism, and sustainability.
Committee members include:
Eng. Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director, Administrative Capital for Urban Development
Hossam Heiba, President, General Authority for FreeZones and Investment (GAFI)
Eng. Fathallah Fawzy, Chairman, MENA for Real Estate Consultancy
Shaimaa Shousha, General Manager – Strategic Department, Industrial Development Authority
Dr. Mohamed Raghad, Environment Department, Tourism Development Authority
The committee's first meeting focused on enhancing coordination between ministries and regulators and identifying investment opportunities across various real estate asset classes, including residential, commercial, industrial, and hospitality. Discussions focused on improving the investment climate, unlocking high-potential projects, and attracting both local and international capital.
Robier Daniel, Cityscape Exhibition Director, stated: 'Cityscape Egypt has always been more than a real estate event. It's a platform for strategic dialogue, investment partnerships, and sustainable urban transformation. With the formation of the steering committee, Cityscape Egypt 2025 is emerging as a driving force behind policy innovation and integrated growth. We're creating a space where public and private sector leaders converge to shape the cities of tomorrow and unlock Egypt's full development potential.'
Eng. Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of Administrative Capital for Urban Development, stated: 'The Egypt Real Estate Summit comes at a pivotal moment that aligns with the country's unprecedented boom in urban development. The summit is a strategic platform, guided by a high-level steering committee of public and private sector leaders to ensure that policy directions are aligned with national priorities. By bringing together decision-makers, investors, and urban development leaders, we contribute to creating effective synergy between the national vision and emerging investment opportunities, while reinforcing the New Capital's position as a hub for smart, sustainable growth and a magnet for investment at the heart of Egypt's future.'
Hossam Heiba, President of General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), commented: 'The Egypt Real Estate Summit 2025 offers a practical opportunity to translate the national investment strategy into tangible outcomes. Through the steering committee that brings all key stakeholders to the table, we are accelerating mechanisms to attract quality investments aligned with Egypt's economic shifts, particularly in infrastructure and urban development. This platform goes beyond showcasing opportunities; it provides an effective coordination tool between public and private sectors, strengthening Egypt's competitiveness as a regional destination for smart and sustainable investment.'

Lifesize Plans Dubai to complement sector growth through its integrated projected technology

Dubai, UAE – The UAE's construction sector has experienced a constant surge in recent years due to several factors, including strong government investments, economic diversification, and an increasing population all providing a strong positive impact on the country's real estate sector. The construction market size is expected to witness a compound annual growth rate of 4.26% as of this year to reach AED 193.38 by 2030, according to leading market intelligence and advisory firm 'Mordor Intelligence' [1]; this will contribute to the real estate sector as more developments are currently in the pipeline with the aim of being delivered by then. The construction sector's growth also fueled by various additional factors, including infrastructure development, particularly in transportation and renewable energy will more than ever require the support of new innovative technologies to help provide the best possible product to its customers. Dubai's proptech market, which is also aiming to double its sector value by 2030 [2], has been a major contributor to this surge through its cutting-edge technology bringing a new dimension to the sector from both a technical and design perspective. Lifesize Plans Dubai, a leading company in life-sized architectural projections worldwide, has been one of the key additions for the UAE's real estate sector since it entered the market in 2023. Providing an immersive, full-scale architectural visualization that is redefining the pre-construction experience, the company offers a market solution that aims to mitigate risk for buyers and facilitates a core client-centered service for developers and sellers. By integrating 'Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality' experiences, UAE residents are now able to toggle between finishes, floor plan variations, and alterations—all before a single structure is built. Georges Calas, CEO of Lifesize Plans Dubai commented: 'Witnessing the constant growth of the UAE's real estate sector and strong influx of investors coming in from all around the world, it was an easy decision for us to enter the market in 2023. As the sector continues to flourish, it becomes increasingly crucial to focus on the attention to detail for every square meter that it is being constructed not just from a design perspective, but to also help identify any potential problem before work even starts on the project. As the overall supply of both residential and commercial developments continue to increase, the proptech sector in parallel also becomes more of a necessity as opposed to a luxury when it comes to investors looking to buy their dream home and will soon become an essential tool for developers to incorporate in the years to come.' As the UAE continues to be a global destination for both investors and tourists alike, the construction and real estate sectors remain as two of its leading backbone industries when it comes to maintaining its continued prosperity. The growth of complementary sectors such as proptech to help provide the best possible product when it comes to infrastructure, design and quality will also be an increased focus for developers as the real estate market continues to grow and evolve. -Ends- About Lifesize Plans Dubai: Lifesize Plans Dubai is the UAE's premier provider of full-scale architectural plan projection and virtual walkthroughs. By combining physical-scale visualizations with immersive technology, the company bridges the gap between concept and construction—helping clients experience, evaluate, and enhance their projects before building begins.

Egypt-Turkey trade exchange approaches $9bln in 2024

Egypt - As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Turkish investments in Egypt, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty met with a group of Turkish business leaders in Istanbul on the sidelines of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation's ministerial meeting. During the meeting, Abdelatty underscored the growing economic ties between Egypt and Turkey, highlighting the significant progress in trade and investment cooperation. He announced that bilateral trade between the two countries reached nearly $9bn in 2024, with Turkey emerging as a key destination for Egyptian exports. Conversely, Egypt has become one of the leading African markets for Turkish goods. The Minister stressed the need for collaborative efforts from both governments and private sector stakeholders to achieve the target of raising bilateral trade to $15bn—a goal agreed upon by the political leaderships of both countries to deepen economic integration and serve shared interests. Abdelatty highlighted the importance of the Egypt-Türkiye free trade agreement, in force since 2005, as a key driver of trade growth. He also noted the potential to expand its scope and remove remaining barriers to trade to further enhance economic cooperation. Welcoming the rising volume of Turkish investments in Egypt, Abdelatty expressed Egypt's commitment to attracting more Turkish capital by leveraging its extensive network of trade agreements and the investor-friendly environment of the Suez Canal Economic Zone. He also pointed to the incentives and facilities available to foreign investors, affirming the government's resolve to address any challenges facing Turkish businesses. In this context, he cited the recent decision by the Egyptian Prime Minister to establish a dedicated unit to support Turkish investments and ensure smooth business operations in the country. © 2024 Daily News Egypt. Amazon exercises option to acquire direct stake in Valu

Image credit: Supplied Amazon has exercised its option to acquire a direct equity stake in Valu, the consumer finance arm of EFG Holding, following the company's listing on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX). The global e-commerce giant will now own approximately 3.95 per cent of Valu's share capital, executing the transaction through the EGX's block trade mechanism at a price of EGP 6.041 per share. The stake purchase is set to occur during the first trading session of Valu's shares, after receiving the necessary regulatory approvals. Read- The agreement stems from a 2022 deal in which Amazon invested $10m in global depositary receipts (GDRs) of EFG Holding. As part of that deal, Amazon secured the right to convert its investment into a 4.255 per cent stake in Valu, contingent on a qualified liquidity event — a milestone now met with Valu's public market debut. EFG Holding Group CEO Karim Awad hailed Amazon's decision as a strategic endorsement of EFG's capacity to build and scale innovative ventures in the region. 'We are proud to witness Amazon's decision to acquire a direct stake in Valu,' Awad said. 'This milestone underscores our commitment to delivering long-term value and highlights Valu's role in advancing financial inclusion and digital transformation in Egypt.' Valu CEO Walid Hassouna echoed the sentiment, emphasising the company's customer-centric approach and adaptability in a dynamic financial landscape. 'This milestone is a powerful testament to the resilience of our business model,' Hassouna said. 'We remain committed to empowering individuals and businesses through innovative financial solutions.' Maged El Ayouti, co-head of Investment Banking at EFG Hermes, credited the firm's advisory role in facilitating the Amazon transaction and guiding Valu's path to the public market. 'From securing Amazon's strategic investment to preparing for Valu's EGX debut, we're proud to support the company's transformative growth,' he said. Valu's listing on the EGX was formally completed on May 21, 2025, with shares becoming available for trading starting June 23, 2025. EFG Hermes acted as the sole financial advisor to both EFG Holding and Valu on the transaction.
