Emirates and Uber team up; offering cheaper rides and flights

Two of the world's biggest travel and transport brands have joined forces to offer more rewards to travellers.
A new strategic partnership between Emirates and Uber means more rewards for frequent riders and flyers.
When you book an Uber ride, you'll soon be able to earn Skywards miles in select markets across Emirates' global network. And with the Skywards programme, you can get cheaper flight tickets with both Emirates and flydubai (plus a bunch of other amazing perks in Dubai).
You'll also be able to get vouchers for Uber rides when booking flights with Emirates, which will allow your plane ticket to take you further and offer a smoother connection from the airport.
Users of the ride-hailing app will also be able to spend Skywards miles on rides in the UAE.

The Memorandum of Understanding between the two brands looks like it will offer up plenty of rewards for Dubai residents and tourists alike.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates' deputy president and CCO, says that the link-up will provide a lot of opportunities to customers of both brands.
He said: 'Emirates is excited to join forces with Uber as part of our commitment to delivering seamless travel experiences.
'In the months ahead, we'll closely work together to leverage our combined capabilities in travel and technology to expand planning options, create more connected end-to-end journeys across our network, and introduce exciting new benefits for our Skywards members.
'We look forward to a successful partnership and the valuable opportunities it will create for our customers.'

The two brands will work on the specifics of what's on offer to customers on both platforms in the coming months.
Anabel Diaz Calderon, Vice President and Head of EMEA Mobility at Uber, says it will redefine the travel experience.

Emirates announces new daily flight to popular European destination

We might just be stepping into summer, but if you're already planning your holidays for the rest of the year, then there's a new flight you need to know about. Emirates has just announced it will be adding a new daily service to the Spanish city of Barcelona to keep up with demand. India's Delhivery unveils short-haul cargo service rivalling Uber, Porter

June 20 (Reuters) - Indian courier delivery firm Delhivery ( opens new tab launched its short-haul parcel transport service in two locations on Friday, ramping up competition in a market dominated by the likes of Uber (UBER.N), opens new tab and Kedaara Capital-backed, opens new tab Porter. Near-distance parcel delivery - often within city limits - has grown increasingly popular, following the success of quick-commerce delivery services, where everything from milk to mobile phones is delivered within 10 minutes. Currently, Uber, Swiggy ride-hailing app Rapido and Porter are among firms that ferry parcels from one area of a city to another. Delhivery's service is currently live only in the national capital region and the southern IT hub of Bengaluru, but the company aims to rapidly expand to other key metro cities, MD and CEO Sahil Barua said in a statement. Third-party logistics firms, including Delhivery, have been looking for options to diversify as their mainstay long-haul freight businesses battle intense competition from in-house logistics arms of e-commerce giants such as Amazon (AMZN.O), opens new tab and Walmart (WMT.N), opens new tab-backed Flipkart.
