Gerik bus crash: Cops record statement of teacher over offensive remarks

IPOH: Police have recorded the statement of a male teacher who allegedly posted offensive remarks on social media related to the fatal crash involving 15 Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students in Gerik on June 9.
Manjung police chief ACP Hasbullah Abd Rahman said the teacher came to the Manjung District Police Headquarters at 10 am to provide his statement, which lasted about three hours.
'We will refer the case to the Deputy Public Prosecutor after the investigation paper is completed,' he told Bernama when contacted today.
The case is classified under Section 504 of the Penal Code, which deals with intentional insult with an intent to provoke a breach of peace, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities or network services.
Hasbullah was reported as saying that police received a report on June 11 regarding the post, which was made from a Facebook account under the name 'Khalid Yunus.'

"Following intelligence gathering and public tip-off, the 35-year-old suspect was arrested in Puchong, Selangor, on June 17. Police also seized a black bag, a silver-black air pistol bearing the inscription Pietro Beretta Gardone V.T., a speed loader, and 30 ball-bearing bullets. The suspect has been remanded for seven days until June 23 to assist in the investigation under Section 33 of the Arms Act 1960 and Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief. Fatal Meru shooting: Cops probing secret society link

KLANG: Police are reviewing several closed-circuit television (CCTV) recordings near the scene of yesterday's fatal shooting in Meru as part of their ongoing investigation into the case. Klang Utara police chief Assistant Commissioner S Vijaya Rao said while there is CCTV footage from the area, the recordings have so far not been helpful in identifying the suspect. "Some footage has already been reviewed, and other nearby CCTV recordings are still being examined," he said when contacted today.
