Great Britain's Alfie Hewett beat Gustavo Fernandez 4-6 6-4 6-7 (12-10) to reach the French Open wheelchair singles final.Second seed Hewett had not dropped a set in his first two matches but had to come from behind to get beyond Argentina's Fernandez in two hours and 46 minutes.Hewett is a 10-time Grand Slam singles champion and has won the French Open title three times.The 27-year-old faces world number one Tokito Oda in the final after the Japanese star beat Martin De La Puente 6-4 6-4.Hewett was also due to play alongside fellow Briton Gordon Reid in the men's wheelchair doubles final on Friday but that match has been moved to Saturday.The British duo - who are five-time defending champions in Paris - will face Oda and France's Stephane Houdet for the title.

June 21 (Reuters) - Bordeaux Begles booked their place in this season's Top 14 final after a hat-trick of tries from hooker Maxime Lamothe helped seal a 39-24 win over Toulon on Saturday, setting up a showdown with champions Toulouse. The decider in Paris next Saturday is a repeat of last year's one-sided final in which Toulouse romped to a 59-3 victory. Toulouse are seeking a third successive Top 14 title, and record-extending 24th championship overall, while Bordeaux, winners of the European Champions Cup this season, are bidding for their first. After Bordeaux and Toulon traded early penalties, the former took the lead when a driving maul was brought to a halt. They worked the ball through the phases before centre Nicolas Depoortere spotted a gap in the defence and dotted down. Bordeaux extended their advantage with a second score as Lamothe burst through several tackles and powered his way over the tryline. Toulon hit back just before the break to make the halftime score 15-10 when centre Leicester Fainga'Anuku profited from a line-break by flyhalf Paolo Garbisi to run in a simple try. When Lamothe bagged his second try early in the second period, however, diving in under the posts after being fed by Yoram Moefana, the momentum swung Bordeaux's way again. Toulon's cause was not helped by a yellow card shown to lock Matthias Halagahu for a delivered knock-down, and when winger Damian Penaud and Lamothe added two more scores in quick succession the game was over as a contest. Winger Setariki Tuicuvu and prop Beka Gigashvili managed a consolation tries for Toulon, but it was too little too late for the four-times champions.

Injured Ruud pulls out of Wimbledon
June 21 (Reuters) - Norway's Casper Ruud has pulled out of Wimbledon as he is still struggling to recover from a knee injury, his management told local media on Saturday. The world No. 16 and two-time French Open finalist suffered a shock second-round exit at the claycourt major last month, losing to unseeded Nuno Borges of Portugal. Afterwards he said he had been struggling with a knee injury for some time and he has not been in action on the men's tour since, withdrawing from the grasscourt event in Mallorca. "He's back on the court, and things are going well, but it looks like playing best-of-five sets is unfortunately a bit too soon. Gstaad will be next for Casper now," manager Tina Falster told NTB. Ruud's best showing at Wimbledon is three second-round appearances. Wimbledon starts on June 30, while the Swiss Open in Gstaad begins on July 14.
