We're racing at Zwartkops this weekend as the journey in the Toyota GR Cup Challenge continues
After three rounds, the Toyota Gazoo GR Cup Challenge moves to its 'home' base at Zwartkops Raceway outside Pretoria for the fourth installment of the National Extreme Festival this weekend.
It's been almost six weeks since we first set eyes on our new GR Yaris' with its slick eight-speed Direct Automatic Transmission (DAT) at the Aldo Scribante Circuit in Gqeberha, and I must say, I've missed being behind the wheel of the pink-liveried Independent Media and IOL car #60, affectionately dubbed Tinkerbell by the rest of the Media Challenge racers.
Gazoo HQ
Zwartkops is also the headquarters of Toyota Gazoo Racing South Africa (TGRSA) which brings with it the added pressure of performing in front of some of their executives, VIP guests, friends and family.
As we head into the weekend I'm a lot less nervous than I was at the beginning of the season. Our race craft has improved significantly but you're still behind the wheel of a race car alongside 19 other GR Corollas driven by dealers and GR 86s piloted by GR Academy drivers so anything can happen, especially since most of us call Zwartkops our home circuit.
There's a difference though between driving around the track at a launch with an instructor next to you as opposed to donning a race suit and then going hell for leather and side by side in a race.

Ashwell Prince: Winning as a diverse team means everything to South Africa
REAL SUCCESS Ashwell Prince celebrated South Africa's World Test Championship win, highlighting the profound significance of diversity and unity in the team's historic success. Picture: Michael Sherman/IOL Image: Michael Sherman/IOL The Proteas victory in the World Test Championship (WTC) as a truly diverse team was the most special moment of South Africa batting coach Ashwell Prince's career. That's quite a statement for the gritty left-handed batsman that played 119 games for South Africa across all three formats. The majority of those matches came in the 66 Tests where Prince scored 11 centuries and as many 50s. Since transitioning into coaching, harnessing all the available talent became one of the keys for Prince. That's why when the Proteas beat Australia in the WTC final at the home of Lord's led by Temba Bavuma and featuring Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi and Keshav Maharaj it was a moment of unadulterated pride for Prince. And it's exactly something that I mentioned to my team back then that I want to achieve. But if you achieve that at provincial level or franchise level, the Titans are not going to be happy about that. I'm talking about winning as a diverse team,' said Prince. 'Other provinces won't be happy about that because that's one province winning. But when you achieve that as the country, this is exactly what it is about. And so, to have the opportunity to be a part of that, it's truly special. It's a special occasion for all of us and for the country.' As the batting coach, it would be expected that Prince's role would always be quite technical for his willow warriors, but he explained how his strategy for their run-chase in the fourth innings was purely a mental approach.

Marco Jansen: My role is making the ball swing and talk for Proteas
MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN Marco Jansen (picturerd) discusses his role in leading the Proteas bowling attack alongside Kagiso Rabada, emphasising their strategic approach to exploiting bowling conditions and his awe of Rabada's prowess. Picture: Michael Sherman/IOL Image: Michael Sherman/IOL While it's difficult not to be awestruck at times with Kagiso Rabada bowling at the other end, Marco Jansen is in no doubt about his job of leading the Proteas bowling attack. Jansen was speaking as South Africa received a hero's welcome on Wednesday, after the Proteas beat Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) final at Lord's, in London, over the weekend. The tall left-arm quick once again proved the perfect foil for Rabada as the pair claimed eight wickets together in the first innings as Australia were bowled out for 212. That set the tone, and despite a match that ebbed and flowed throughout the contest, the Proteas ultimately emerged convincing five-wicket victors to claim their first piece of major ICC glory (not counting the 1998 Champions Trophy). Bowling with Rabada though, is still sometimes a surreal experience, the 26-year-old explained. 'That guy is good, hey. Every time he gets a wicket, I just... There are a couple of moments or times where he took wickets where I just sort of stood back, sort of like taking in the whole scene, what's happening and stuff like that, reminding me when I was in school, seeing him on TV doing similar things and then sort of snapping out of it in an instant and starting celebrating. 'I think to myself, this is unbelievable. But also at the same time, remembering or telling myself that I also have a job to do. 'I can't just take everything in and just be there and go along for the ride if that makes sense.'

You don't go there to get personal accolades, you go there to win
ALL FOR THE TEAM Aiden Markram's refused to take credit despite his match-winning century as he and Temba Bavuma's gritty 66 powered South Africa to a historic World Test Championship victory over Australia at Lord's. Picture: Michael Sherman/IOL Image: Michael Sherman/IOL Though he scored a match-winning hundred, Aiden Markram was reluctant to take credit for his side's victory in the World Test Championship (WTC) final over the weekend. South Africa clinched the WTC final at Lord's on Saturday, beating Australia by five wickets at the home of cricket. Captain Temba Bavuma formed part of the match-winning partnership with Markram in the fourth innings, as the Proteas emerged emphatic winners. Markram scored a sensational 136 and Bavuma made an invaluable 66 batting with an injured hamstring at the other end, as the pair shared a pivotal 147-run stand for the third wicket in pursuit of 282 for victory. Next Stay Close ✕ Markram Reflects on WTC Triumph: A Proud Moment for South African Cricket 'It's huge [winning the WTC]. It is one of the coolest things I've certainly ever done in my life. We as a team are incredibly proud of it,' said Markram. 'To contribute obviously adds to that feeling of course, but ultimately it was about coming back as a winner, as a champion. 'That was always the focus, that was never going to change. The personal performance, like I said, helps, but that's not why we went there. You didn't go there to get man of the match, you go there to win the game of cricket for South Africa.' When Bavuma went down injured early in his knock, Markram revealed what transpired between the pair of them when it was unclear if the skipper should continue.
