Dundee's Finlay McKillop leaves ITV's 99 To Beat after rule-break
A Dundee actor has 'controversially' been eliminated from an ITV gameshow after breaking the rules.
Saturday night TV viewers have been watching former High School of Dundee pupil Finlay McKillop compete in 99 To Beat, which has been compared to Netflix hit Squid Game.
The weekly gameshow sees 100 contestants whittled down by playing 'stupidly simple games', with the last person standing winning £25,000.
It is hosted by soap star brothers Ryan and Adam Thomas.
Finlay's departure coincides with the third night at Perth Theatre of Restless Natives: The Musical, in which he plays the lead role of Will.
Tonight's edition of 99 To Beat began with the remaining 26 contestants being told their numbers would be halved by the end.
One of these casualties would be Finlay, who came a cropper on the programme's third – and suitably unusual – test.
Each contestant was tasked with getting a tin can over the finish line using a ball inside a drooping sock attached to their midriff.
It was a challenge of balance, technique and patience, as each contestant had to use their core to direct a pouch dangling between their legs.
The slowest person to finish would be eliminated.

Finlay was confident he could progress further.
The 26-year-old, who has 4.5 million likes on TikTok, said: 'I am an actor and in my industry you have to be a competitive person.
'I have in my head what I'm going to do.
'If it goes wrong, there is a plan B.
'We will have to see.'
But Finlay had made little progress even after 18 of the remaining contestants had completed the challenge.
The only rival still on the course was Kent radio presenter Robin Nixon, the oldest contestant at 63.
But he was tantalisingly close to the finishing line and only a miracle could save Finlay.
'It's not going to plan so I have to change my tactics,' Finlay said afterwards.
Suddenly, he propelled the ball at speed past the finishing line to leave Robin seemingly out of the game.
Just as it looked as though Finlay had made a great escape, a buzzer sounded.
A voice said: 'There has been a rule break.
'Finlay, you used your hand to move the ball.
'Please return to the start
'Robin, you go back to where you were.'
This decision effectively eliminated Finlay because Robin only needed a few nudges to pass the finish line.
After the inevitable was confirmed, one of the presenters said: 'A controversial night on ITV for Finlay.'
Finlay said afterwards: 'If I have broken the rules then I start again.
'I can't complain about that.
'I gave it a good whack but it wasn't to be.
'I usually like my beans in cans but I'm off them now!'
The defeat last summer appears not to have harmed Finlay's acting career.
Finlay, who now lives in London, is currently in Scotland playing the lead role of Will in Restless Natives: The Musical.
He was upbeat as he signed off from the show.
'Back to the singing and acting,' he said.
'I've had my fun with the silly challenges.
'Get me to the West End!'
Tickets are available for Restless Natives, which runs at Perth Theatre until May 10, and the Macrobert Arts Centre in Stirling from May 14 to May 17.

Legendary BBC presenter quietly bows out after almost 50 years of TV hosting
BBC and ITV sports presenting icon Steve Ryder gave his last broadcast on Sunday as he presented the British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park for ITV4 Sports presenter Steve Ryder has announced his retirement from broadcasting after an impressive 48-year career. The 75-year-old covered major sporting fixtures for both the BBC and ITV over the course of his time on the air. On Sunday, the star was broadcasting from the British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park in Cheshire when he revealed he would be hanging up his microphone. He was covering the event for ITV4 when he announced the news of his departure from the screen. A montage of clips was then shared showing drivers including Lando Norris, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Jenson Button and David Coulthard all bidding farewell to the broadcaster. Over the years, he has hosted Sportsnight and Sports Personality of the Year, as well as the BBC's coverage of every Olympic Games between 1988 and 2004. He departed the BBC in 2005 and joined ITV where he presented coverage of Formula One, as well as the football and rugby World Cups. His final appearance proved to be a muted exit, but he has previously explained why he decided the time had come to quit. He told the Daily Mail: "The biggest emotion as you get into the last two minutes of something like that is, 'For God's sake, don't c**k it up.' Simon Cowell sparks concern with outfit choice during London bike ride
Simon Cowell has baffled everyone with his bike-riding attire. The talent show judge was spotted by fans cruising around South London amid the heatwave, which has seen temperatures reach their hottest of the year thus far. But despite the 34°C blaze, which has seen health alerts issued across the country, Simon appeared to be dressing for a totally different season. Captured by TikTok user @plus44unrulyfluffy, the X Factor mogul cycled in Wandsworth wearing some weather-appropriate white shorts and a totally not weather-appropriate, erm, puffer jacket. The BGT judge completed his cycling look with his signature black shades. And he seemed more than happy to pause his ride for a chat with the group who just happened to be sitting in their car, window rolled down. Totally elated at the unexpected encounter, one guy behind the camera is heard declaring: 'Yes, Simon!' 'Are you really on your bike? I can't believe it,' a girl screamed. 'Why are you like this?', she asked him, to which Simon smiled: 'What?' 'On your bike, are you not scared?', she quizzed. 'Well, I got lost, but it is quicker,' Simon replied. He now rides with confidence; however, it took Simon a while to get back to leisurely cycling after an accident in 2020. The America's Got Talent judge broke his back in August that year after he fell off an electric bike that he was testing at his home in California. He required intense surgery, which included having a metal rod inserted into his back to stabilise it. Then, in 2022, Simon, who is a proud dad to 11-year-old Eric, suffered a second serious crash, after which he admitted he was 'lucky to survive'. Just 18 months after his first incident, Simon went over on the road near his west London home, having made a sharp turn around a corner in wet conditions and felt the bike go 'out from under' him. He was sent crashing to the ground, having been going at a speed of around 20mph. More Trending Simon was rushed to hospital and suffered a broken arm, a badly bruised cheek, and possible concussion. Thankfully, it did not lessen his love for riding, as, when asked if he would be giving up the hobby, he said in an interview later on: 'I'm still gonna stay on my bike. I'm obsessed with these things.' The ordeals also gave Simon a new outlook, as he later shared to The Sun that he 'was so close to living the rest of [his] life in a wheelchair.' 'It gives you a completely different outlook on life. In a positive way,' he said. 'It hurt—trust me—when it happened, but good things happened off the back of it.' Got a story?
