General Daily Insight for June 14, 2025
We can all stand to broaden our horizons today. The Moon starts out in Capricorn, where it will trine shocking Uranus in Taurus, energizing us to update our approaches to old problems. The Moon will then move into Aquarius at 7:02 am EDT, setting us up for a day of out-of-the-box thinking, as Aquarius energy never wants to do things by the established rulebook. While here, the Moon will conjoin extreme Pluto, so the urge to act out will only become stronger.
Aries
March 21 – April 19
This is no day to face all by yourself. This is emphasized by Luna leaping into your 11th House of Global Communities! Whether you're linking up with the usual crew or meeting fresh faces, you will be able to make the most of the energy on offer when you act as part of a team, rather than on your own. Don't be shy about taking the lead and rounding up the gang, since that doesn't mean you'll need to be the leader the whole time.
Taurus
April 20 – May 20
You can accomplish more than you may know, Taurus. This is a wonderful chance to sprint that much closer to your personal finish line as the Moon gallops into your 10th House of Career, setting you up for a time of success. If you're a little uncertain what that finish line is supposed to look like, then this transit can help you gain the required clarity to figure it out. A respected supervisor or other superior could provide some useful words of wisdom.
Gemini
May 21 – June 20
There's no time for small things today! Your horizons are becoming that much bigger as the Moon flies into your 9th House of Expansion for the next couple of days, inspiring you to look beyond what you know. The busy energy imbued in your sign is ready for you to discover all sorts of new things. You don't need to stay inside when you could be building bridges to faraway lands. Give yourself the gift of growth to achieve the best possible results.
Cancer
June 21 – July 22
Your personal bonds may need a little attention. The Moon is slipping into your 8th House of Shared Resources, centering your thoughts around the links between you and the important people in your life, be they financial, emotional, or physical. This isn't exactly light-hearted territory, so you may be faced with the more serious side of these topics. Still, something being solemn doesn't mean it won't be rewarding. There are a lot of benefits on offer if you're willing to pursue them.
Leo
July 23 – August 22
Focus on how you give and take today. The stars are honing in on your relationships as the Moon enters your 7th House of Partnerships, so it is vital to remember that these exist as a two-way street. If a specific person in your life has been taking more than they've been giving (this person could be you!), then take time to get things back on an even footing. The solution could be as simple as picking up the check at dinner.
Virgo
August 23 – September 22
One thing at a time is the best way to handle whatever's coming next. If possible, take some time to look around your life and figure out what needs to be improved. This process should be pretty smooth, thanks to the Moon entering your efficient 6th house. Your sign is particularly strong here, so a little effort can yield massive results. Don't worry — you don't need to entirely transform your life. Slow and steady will be the best way to build success.
Libra
September 23 – October 22
This is no time for playing it small. The universe is shining a lovely light on you as the Moon shimmies into your creative 5th house. This may embolden you to step out from the shadows and let the world see what you have to offer. Something you consider just a hobby or way to pass the time could turn out to be quite an eye-catching talent that wildly impresses other people, so don't keep your gifts hidden. You deserve a chance to be appreciated!
Scorpio
October 23 – November 21
Focusing on current family matters is wise. The Moon is settling down in your domestic 4th house, drawing your energy toward your abode. Regardless of whether that has you dealing with your relatives, roommates, or a matter around the house, it is a good time to try and clarify whatever's happening under your roof. If you've been flying through the world with barely a moment to spend on the couch, change up the program and make yourself at home — literally or metaphorically.
Sagittarius
November 22 – December 21
Hit the ground running, Sag! You'll want to keep up with the cosmic momentum as the Moon moves into your 3rd House of Communication for the next couple days. It also encourages you to get out and see what everyone is up to and how you can get involved. You don't need to completely throw your plans out the window and jump on any bandwagons, but it would still behoove you to check in with others. There could be some exciting opportunities on offer.
Capricorn
December 22 – January 19
You deserve a little treat. Your sign may tend to forego the simple pleasures in life because you're so focused on working your way up the mountain toward your particular goal. Seize the day by pausing to smell the roses as the Moon enters your luxurious 2nd house. This doesn't have to be an expensive indulgence or take up a lot of time — just check out from the rat race for a little while to remind yourself how sweet life can really be.
Aquarius
January 20 – February 18
Put yourself front and center, Aquarius. The Moon is entering your 1st House of Self-Expression today, giving you cosmic clearance to worry about other people another time. Turning your attention firmly onto yourself isn't selfish — it's responsible. If you don't take the time to check in with your needs and make sure they're being met, you risk impeding your daily life, let alone your ability to help anyone else in the future. Take note of anything that's out of whack and start addressing it.
Pisces
February 19 – March 20
Take a load off, Pisces. There is no need to race off your feet — after all, the Moon is sliding into your sleepy 12th house for the next couple of days, encouraging you to cocoon yourself for the time being. If you are still feeling productive, focus on wrapping up loose ends rather than beginning anything new. Just keep in mind that there's nothing wrong with taking it easy and giving yourself a personal holiday from reality. You deserve a little peace and quiet.

Summer Solstice 2025 horoscopes for every zodiac sign

All hail the longest day of the year as the Summer Solstice arrives on Jun 20, 2025, at 10:42 p.m. As daylight edges out darkness, the world blooms, pollen drifts and fruit ripens, we look forward to warmth and welcome the onset of Cancer season. 'The ancient Sumerians began planting during the Summer Solstice — a time that symbolizes new beginnings, when nothing is yet defined and everything is coming into being. Summer Solstice 2025 Today, the Summer Solstice is a time when we plant the seeds of things we want to grow,' Polina Arutiunian, an astrologer at Nebula, a spiritual guidance platform, told The Post. Arutiunian sheds light on the areas of our lives primed to flourish under the zenith of our favorite death star. Read for your sun and rising sign. 12 KseniaKrop – 'You may find yourself focusing more on your emotional state and domestic life, Aries. This is the perfect time to make changes in your home, reframe relationships with family members, or even alter your living situation,' said Arutiunian. She told The Post the sun's standstill could dredge up long-buried fears, experiences, and emotions for Aries folk. Trust that whatever comes up is looking to change form — for the brighter and better. 12 KseniaKrop – For the bull brigade, the Summer Solstice lights up your third house of language, cognition, expression, and exchange. 'The Summer Solstice may highlight new beginnings in communication, Taurus. For some of you, this transit could bring up heartfelt conversations that will mark the start of a new cycle,' said Arutiunian. She advises Taurus folk to avoid arguments on this day — and focus instead on olive branches and peaceful bedrock. 12 KseniaKrop – Happy Solstice Gemini! The peaking sun shines a light on your second house of wealth and worth, encouraging you to bring your finances and the feelings they are tied to out of the dark. You're advised to avoid spending when you're feeling low or risking it all when you're feeling lucky. When you're trying to decide on the necessity of a bet or purchase, consider this Swedish proverb. 'He who buys what he does not need, steals from himself.' 12 KseniaKrop – Happy return of the sun to you, Cancer! 'The Summer Solstice is your time to shine. All your actions could lead to a new beginning for the next six months, so make sure you approach every precipice with confidence. It's a great time to start a new project, take on new work, or make a change to your appearance,' said Arutiunian. 12 KseniaKrop – The Summer Solstice lends light to your twelfth house of the unconscious, Leo — the domain of dreams, dissolution, and ghosts. 'This is truly a magical time for you. Hidden feelings and wishes may arise, possibly even from the past. It's time for deep self-reflection to separate your true desires from illusions,' said Arutiunian. She notes that big cats can get big downloads from their dreams during the days surrounding the Solstice. Pay mind to what catches light when you power down. 12 KseniaKrop – Ahoy, Virgo! The sun stands still and ingresses into Cancer, illuminating your tenth house of community. Your future is coming into focus and fruition. 'You have all the opportunities to start something new, especially in collaborative work projects, within your team, or in friendships. The most beneficial practice for you will be writing down all your plans for the next six months – this is your way to start a new cycle,' said Arutiunian. 12 KseniaKrop – 'The peak of the Sun's energy fills your 10th house, Libra. You might notice a new beginning in your career, public image, or even feel like your ambitions are growing,' said Arutiunian. 'This is the time to focus your forces on a work promotion, new job, or even an opportunity to move abroad — dream boldly and manifest broadly.' 12 KseniaKrop – Scorpions will feel a surge of exploratory energy in their ninth house of ideals and horizons. 'You might feel some fundamental changes in what you believe, even if those changes seem small at first, Scorpio. The Sun highlights the importance of higher education, your views, and values, and may even challenge them through emotional situations,' said Arutiunian. To paraphrase Denis Waitley, we don't find fulfillment in the pursuit of happiness — but in the happiness of pursuit. 12 KseniaKrop – Happy Solstice to you, Sagittarius. The sun is shining in your shadowy eighth house of sex, death, resources, and regeneration. 'This transit may shift your focus to what needs to change, especially in your business, work projects, or partnerships. Don't be afraid to invite deeper transformations,' said Arutiunian. To spur your metamorphosis, I offer you the words of Leon C. Megginson: 'It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.' 12 KseniaKrop – Arutiunian says the Summer Solstice and the onset of Cancer season will deepen relationships for Capricorn folk. With the sun beaming into your seventh house of trusted partnership, you can magnetize what you want by acting like you deserve it fully and trust wholly that it is on its way to you. Whether you're looking to call in a partner or cement a commitment, now is the hour. 12 KseniaKrop – Happy solstice, Aquarius! The energy of the solstice encourages you to turn your attention to bodily health, daily routine, and habitual rituals. 'It's a good time to start a new discipline or system in your routine, or even take on a new responsibility, like caring for a pet,' said Arutiunian. Whatever you initiate on or around the solstice is imbued with the fire power of the sun at its peak, a solar boon that bolsters success. Get to it! 12 KseniaKrop – 'You may experience a beautiful new cycle forming in your life, Pisces, especially when it comes to love,' shared Arutiunian. 'It's a great time to start an artistic project, go public with a pursuit, or even begin planning for children if that's your wish.' Regardless of how creation takes form for you under the standstill sun, Pisces, you are poised for a bountiful ROI. Colleges need more comedy

We live in humorless times, and yet the need to laugh seems more vital than ever. Conversations on college campuses are tense right now, if they happen at all. I have taught on a university campus for close to two decades, but only recently have I started to give some consideration to comedy as a serious source of study. In 2020, when the pandemic hit and teaching went virtual, I struggled to keep my undergraduates engaged. COVID-19 crippled us to the core, and my students' minds were perpetually elsewhere. Eventually, they felt fatigued by doom and gloom. That's when I decided to test out some humor. Never a confident comedian, I initially felt awkward. However, the light-hearted laughter came with patience and time. Having learned from my stepson that many members of Gen Z appreciate puns, I started with verbal irony and progressed from there. Certain jokes didn't resonate — and they still don't — but I have learned over time to roll with the punches. Today, I weave humor into everything and, as an English professor, I find so many promising parallels between jokes and narratives. As the humanities increasingly becomes a target in our data-driven world of deliverables and returns on investment, the study and practice of humor has the potential to enhance and enrich higher education. Humor studies, an interdisciplinary field that extends from literature and writing to business and health care professions, has grown over the past decade or so. A Google Scholar search reveals that 2010 produced many pieces on pedagogy and comedy. Learning through laughter became a prevalent theme 15 years ago, but nothing that I can find considers humorous healing through higher education during our turbulent times on college campuses. Still, humor is a subject of widespread interest among both those in academia and the larger public. As the world welcomes Pope Leo, I came across a New York Times opinion piece by his predecessor titled 'There is Faith in Humor.' Pope Francis argues that laughter is central to living, just as humor humanizes us. The piece also emphasizes the centrality of comedy to Catholic faith, interfaith conversations and social justice. Humor and comedy take courage, of course, and also coincide with creative and critical thinking. Amidst concerns about campus censorship, the study of humor is central to both the liberal arts and pre-professional programs. Students come to my classes believing that serious literature is dry and grim, but my message to them is that deep learning can come from a serious examination of funny narratives and situations. This idea often resonates not only with English majors, but with future business leaders and health care professionals who see laughter as crucial to lifelong learning and their future careers. Allison Beard's 2014 Harvard Business Review piece 'Leading with Humor' convincingly argues that a sense of humor in managers and directors can go a long way to diffusing conflict and leading with conviction. Humor is also tied to human survival, even during the darkest days. Holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl writes in 'Man's Search for Meaning' that 'humor was another of the soul's weapons in the fight for self-preservation.' Although Aristotle distinguishes the two in 'The Poetics,' one of the earliest works of literary criticism in the Western tradition, the ancient Greek thinker claims that comedy is never very far from tragedy. Steve Allen, the first host of 'The Tonight Show,' said that 'comedy is tragedy plus time.' Though it may seem challenging, today's times are appropriate for humor. In this age of artificial intelligence, humor humanizes our writing and teaching. Context is crucial, of course, as is sensitivity to language. The next generation of learners can certainly benefit from this focus on lifelong learning through laughter, which in many ways is the freest form of expression. Cara Erdheim Kilgallen is an author and associate professor of English at Sacred Heart University.
