The film also features actors like Lukman Avaran, Sandeep Pradeep, Ganapathi, Kottayam Nazeer, Shine Tom Chacko and Abu Salim in significant roles.
Alappuzha Gymkhana, the Malayalam sports drama film featuring Naslen in the titular role, emerged as a box-office success upon its release in April this year. Helmed by Khalid Rahman, the film minted Rs 44.25 crore, net in India, as per sacnilk.com, making it one of Mollywood's most profitable hits this year. Did you miss watching on the big screens? Well, need not worry are the film will be coming to the OTT platforms soon.
Following a successful theatrical run, the film is preparing for its digital debut. Several rumours have been circulating about which streaming giant has got the rights, with names like Amazon Prime and JioHotstar in the running.
Now, the film is released on the streaming giant SonyLIV in five languages: Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
The film also features Lukman Avaran, Sandeep Pradeep, Ganapathi, Kottayam Nazeer, Shine Tom Chacko and Abu Salim in significant roles.
It follows the story of five friends from Alappuzha who take up boxing to get college admission through the sports quota after failing their 12th-grade examinations. The story explores their friendship, relationships, and individual journeys as they navigate the world of boxing. While it incorporates elements of a sports drama, the film deviates from the typical underdog narrative, exploring the diverse motivations and approaches of the characters within the boxing world.
The screenplay of the film is written by Khalid Rahman and Sreeni Saseendran. It is backed by Khalid Rahman, Jobin George, Subeesh Kannanchery and Sameer Karat under Plan B Motion Pictures and Reelistic Studios.
Speaking about the making of the film, director Rahman earlier told OTTPlay, 'What I felt would be the most thrilling part of creating this film was having to bring in a group of young people and collaborate with them. It is not a boxing film centred on a particular actor or celebrity. There is a group of young actors who I could shape in any way I wanted. They would also devote their time and energy to the project, which was an advantage I noticed before making the film. And everything turned out well."
Apart from this, several other Malayalam films have also been released on OTT this week, including Thudarum, Pattth, Big Ben and Bromance among others.

ENG vs IND: Disciplined and fearless - Manjrekar lauds Jaiswal's maturity

India's opening session in the first Test against England witnessed a blend of promise and setbacks, with Yashasvi Jaiswal's disciplined approach drawing praise from former cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar. Speaking on JioHotstar, Manjrekar called Jaiswal a 'very organised modern-day player,' and said his solid knock was in line with the expectations he has set with past performances. 'This doesn't surprise me,' Manjrekar said. 'He was India's best batter on the Australia tour, and the only one to show consistency. His defensive game—playing close to the body, getting deep in the crease, and handling anything pitched up, especially from someone like Mitchell Starc—was outstanding. Once he's in, you'll see the big strokes come out too. He's got that Test match foundation and modern flair.' Manjrekar also highlighted that Jaiswal's style typifies the new generation of Indian batters. 'Among the top seven, you're going to see more players like him—compact, disciplined, and fearless. Sai Sudharsan would have shown the same had he not been dismissed early,' he added. Dasgupta: 'Unlucky break for Sudharsan, KL caught in two minds' Sharing insights into the dismissals of KL Rahul and debutant Sai Sudharsan, fellow JioStar expert Deep Dasgupta pointed to the fine margins of Test cricket. 'KL Rahul looked sublime while driving and defending. But the ball he got out to—he didn't commit fully. It was a slash, maybe half-hearted, as the ball began to swing late. He looked a touch indecisive.' On Sudharsan's brief outing, Dasgupta was sympathetic. 'You've got to feel for the young man. The England bowlers and think-tank got their plan spot on. They identified his trigger movement early and set a leg-slip and leg gully right away. It was clever, calculated, and shows their homework.' Stokes' field placements win admiration Both experts credited England captain Ben Stokes for his innovative field settings and tactical nous. Manjrekar particularly applauded the aggressive and unconventional setup used to target Sudharsan. 'It's fascinating how England spotted a vulnerability in Sai that most of us hadn't. Ben Stokes didn't hesitate—two leg slips, an odd square-leg fielder right behind the umpire. It was bold.' He added, 'This is what makes this series thrilling. Stokes gives England a competitive edge. Just having him as captain boosts their chances of winning by 20 per cent. He's a game-changer not just with bat or ball, but also with his leadership.' Sitaare Zameen Par box office Day 1: Aamir's film starts decent, earns Rs 11.5 crore

Aamir Khan's 'Sitaare Zameen Par', touted as the spiritual sequel to his 2007 classic 'Taare Zameen Par', released in theatres on June 20 to largely positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. Despite the favourable buzz, the sports drama had a modest start at the box office, collecting an estimated Rs 11.5 crore on its opening day, according to industry tracker 'Sitaare Zameen Par' couldn't surpass the Day 1 collection of Aamir's previous film, 'Laal Singh Chaddha', which earned Rs 11.7 crore on release day in 2022, despite ultimately underperforming in the long run with a lifetime collection of just Rs 60 crore. Comparatively, 'Taare Zameen Par' had opened to Rs 2 crore on Day 1 back in per Sacnilk, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' registered a 21.43 per cent occupancy in the Hindi belt, with night shows drawing the highest footfall. While the opening numbers may not be record-breaking, the film's strong word-of-mouth, compelling performances, and emotional storytelling could boost its performance over the weekend. Watch the trailer of Sitaare Zameen Par here: India Today rated the film 3.5 stars, praising its heartfelt simplicity and humour. An excerpt from the review reads: 'The beauty of 'Sitaare Zameen Par' lies in the fact that it isn't trying to be anything it's not. There are no hidden metaphors or layered messages to decode. It is what it is - not a flawless portrayal of emotion, but a story with its heart in the right place. And oh, when it makes you laugh, it really makes you laugh. It puts to shame all those so-called comedies built on crass humour and sexist jokes.'Alongside Aamir Khan, the film stars Genelia Deshmukh and marks the debut of ten fresh faces in Hindi cinema. With the weekend ahead, all eyes are on whether 'Sitaare Zameen Par' can turn its promising start into a box office Watch

" Meri Aadat Hai": Yashasvi Jaiswal Requests Shubman Gill To Warn Him Mid-Match. Reason Is...

India captain Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal both slammed centuries on an exciting opening day of Test cricket in Leeds, helping the visitors reach 359/3 at the close of play in the series-opener. Jaiswal (101) brought up his fifth Test hundred, before being dismissed right after Tea by England captain Ben Stokes. Gill, on the other hand, became the eighth Indian batter to score a century at Headingley, slamming an unbeaten 127 with the help of 16 fours and a solitary six. During their 129-run stand, Jaiswal requested Gill to stop him from taking risky singles, suggesting that he often charges down in excitement. This came after Jaiswal tried to take a quick single off Chris Woakes, only for Gill to reject his call. Even though Jaiswal seemed a bit agitated by Gill's call, he eventually realised his mistake and urged his partner to keep making such calls in case he gets too excited. "Mujhko bolte rehna. Meri adaat hai, aage jane ki (Please keep telling me 'no' for risky singles. I have a habit of charging down)," Jaiswal can be heard as saying in a viral video.
