President Sisi signs law amending some provisions of House of Representative Law
CAIRO, June 10 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi signed Law no. 85 of 2025, amending some provisions of the House of Representatives Law no. 46 of 2014, and Law no. 174 of 2020 regarding the division of electoral constituencies for the House of Representatives elections.
The amendments stipulate that Egypt is to be divided into a number of constituencies designated for individual candidacy (individual-seat system) and four constituencies designated for the party-list system.
As for the party-list system, it includes a four list-based constituencies; two constituencies are allocated 40 seats each and two constituencies are allocated 102 seats each.
Regarding requirements for electoral lists: each list must include the exact number of candidates matching the number of seats required in that constituency and an equal number of substitute candidates.
With regard to the 40-seat list, it must include at least three Christian candidates, two candidates who are workers or farmers, two youth candidates, one candidate with a disability, one candidate from Egyptians residing abroad, at least 20 women, whether or not they belong to the above categories.
Regarding the 102-seat list, it must include at least nine Christian candidates, six candidates who are workers or farmers, six youth candidates, three candidates with disabilities, three candidates from Egyptians residing abroad and at least 51 women, whether or not they belong to the above categories.
Concerning the individual candidacy (individual-seat system), candidates running in individual constituencies must submit a written nomination request to the Election Oversight Committee at the Primary Court in the governorate they wish to represent.
They submit their nomination within a period set by the National Elections Authority, the body responsible for managing and supervising the electoral process, which must not be less than five days from the date of the candidate nomination window opens. (MENA)

ISTANBUL, June 21 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a meeting on Saturday with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit hosted in Istanbul.
