June 17 (UPI) -- MyPillow CEO and conservative political activist Mike Lindell defamed a former employee of Denver's Dominion Voting Systems, a federal jury found on Monday.
After a two-week trial, a federal jury is requiring Lindell to pay Eric Coomer roughly $2.3 million, according to David Beller, one of Coomer's lawyers.
Coomer's attorney Charles Caine said, "We're thrilled with the verdict."
During Coomer's time as a former director of product strategy and security at Dominion, a manufacturer of voting machines, Lindell claimed -- without any evidence -- that Coomer had flipped votes to prevent President Trump from winning re-election.
The jury found three statements that met requirements of defamation. Two were made by Lindell and one was made by someone else at a FrankSpeech event. That broadcast platform is now known as LindellTV.
"I mean, you are disgusting, and you are treasonous. You are a traitor to the United States of America," said Lindell, according to court filings.
"Eric Coomer, you are a criminal. Eric Coomer, your lawyers better look out. I'm not putting up with this," the far-right Trump supporter said in an interview. "You've been a part of the biggest crime this world has ever seen."
Coomer then sued Lindell, saying the harassment from him and others put an end to his 15-year career in the industry. And Coomer said Lindell's harassment led to "death threats," as well.
"Mike Lindell not only hurt Eric Coomer with his baseless lies -- he hurt the American people and the democratic process," Beller said in a statement. "Dr. Coomer is now one step closer to putting his life back together."
After the verdict, Lindell stressed that his company is not liable for defamation. He said in the jury's finding that he will continue to claim that voting machine companies steal elections.
"It's a huge breakthrough about free speech, our First Amendment rights," he said.

Kremlin warns that other nations ready to give Iran nukes: ‘Dangerous escalation has begun'

Moscow warned Sunday that several nations are prepared to supply Tehran with nuclear weapons, as Russia and China condemned America's attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. Dmitry Medvedev, who serves as deputy head of Russian President Vladimir Putin's Security Council, claimed Saturday's US airstrike — the first to use 15-ton GBU-57 'bunker-buster' bombs in combat — only caused minimal damage to Tehran's nuclear sites, including the fortified Fordow enrichment plant. Medvedev, who did not specify which countries are ready to arm Tehran, reiterated that the attacks would not stop Russia's ally in the Middle East from acquiring nuclear weapons. 5 Russian President Vladimir Putin's Security Council warned that several nations are ready to arm Iran with nuclear weapons after America's attack on Tehran's nuclear sites. AP The statement comes as Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said he will be traveling to Moscow to meet with Putin to discuss countermeasures. 'We enjoy a strategic partnership, and we always consult with each other and coordinate our positions,' Araghchi told Russian media. Russia's Foreign Ministry described the American airstrike in Iran as 'a gross violation of international law, the UN Charter, and UN Security Council resolutions. 'It is already clear that a dangerous escalation has begun, fraught with further undermining of regional and global security,' the ministry said in a statement. 5 Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi (center) was expected to meet with Russian officials Sunday to discuss the American attack. But Chinese officials also said their country is committed to keep the fighting from escalating, with Beijing calling for a cease-fire. 'China is willing to work with the international community to pool efforts together and uphold justice, and contribute to the work for restoring peace and stability in the Middle East,' the ministry said in a statement. 5 China is calling on a cease-fire in the Middle East while facing demands from the West to stop Iran from shutting down the Strait of Hormuz shipping route. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday called on Beijing to make sure Iran keeps the oil port open, noting that the bulk of China's oil comes from the Strait. 'It will have some impact on us,' Rubio told CBS News' 'Face the Nation' of the possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz. 'It will have a lot more impact on the rest of the world,' he added, calling the move 'economic suicide' for Iran. With Post wires

Trump goes nuclear on Republican after Iran war powers slapdown, vows to back primary foe: ‘MAGA doesn't want him'

President Trump unleashed his fury on libertarian-leaning Rep. Thomas Massie and vowed to prop up a primary challenge after the Kentuckian co-introduced a measure to rein in his war powers. Trump, who has long been vexed by Massie (R-Ky.) in the past on a host of issues, ripped him as a 'pathetic loser' during a fiery Truth Social screed. 'Massie is weak, ineffective, and votes 'NO' on virtually everything put before him (Rand Paul, Jr.), no matter how good something may be,' Trump fumed on Truth Social Sunday. 'Massie should drop his fake act and start putting America First, but he doesn't know how to get there — he doesn't have a clue!' he added. 'MAGA should drop this pathetic LOSER, Tom Massie, like the plague!' 'The good news is that we will have a wonderful American Patriot running against him in the Republican Primary, and I'll be out in Kentucky campaigning really hard.' 3 Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie has drawn President Trump's ire in the past. CBS/Face the Nation 3 President Trump had warned Iran that he would deal with its nuclear program the easy way or the hard way. AP Massie voted last month against the House version of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which is intended to be the president's signature legislative achievement of the year and possibly his second term. The two have butted heads repeatedly in the past. In 2020, Massie opposed a $2 trillion emergency COVID-19 relief measure intended to avert a steep recession, drawing Trump's wrath. Last week, Massie banded together with Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) in rolling out a War Powers Resolution to rein in Trump's ability to strike Iran. That measure has seemingly gained more steam in Congress in the wake of Trump's strikes against Tehran's Natanz, Isfahan and Fordow nuclear facilities. Massie quickly dubbed the move unconstitutional. Massie joined Khanna for an interview on CBS' 'Face the Nation' Sunday to promote that measure. 'I represent part of the coalition that elected President Trump. We were tired of endless wars in the Middle East, and tired of wars in Eastern Europe,' Massie said on the program. 'They should have called us all back,' he went on. 'And, frankly, we should have debated this war powers resolution that Ro Khanna and I offered, instead of staying on vacation and doing fundraisers, and saying, 'Oh, well, the President's got this under control, we're going to cede our constitutional authority.'' 3 Operation Midnight Hammer was intended to wipe out Iran's nuclear capabilities. Getty Images Trump has been adamant that the strikes against Iran were necessary and has long contended that the theocratic regime cannot be permitted to obtain a nuclear weapon. 'MAGA is not about lazy, grandstanding, nonproductive politicians, of which Thomas Massie is definitely one,' Trump further fumed. 'He's a simple minded 'grandstander' who thinks it's good politics for Iran to have the highest level Nuclear weapon, while at the same time yelling 'DEATH TO AMERICA' at every chance they get,' Trump continued. 'Iran has killed and maimed thousands of Americans.' Massie's office didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. Earlier this month, Trump had lashed out at Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) over his opposition to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Like his fellow Kentuckian Massie, Paul raised concerns about the megabill's impact on the debt. The duo has a knack for voting against big-ticket GOP items and criticizing US involvement in foreign entanglements.

Rubio: ‘No planned military operations' against Iran unless they attack Americans

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Sunday that the United States currently has no military operation planned against Iran but left the door open for future strikes if it does not demonstrate a meaningful effort to make peace. 'We have other targets that we could hit, but we achieved our objective,' Rubio said in an interview on CBS News's 'Face the Nation.' 'The primary targets we were interested in are the ones that were struck [last night] in devastating fashion,' Rubio continued. 'And we've achieved that objective.' Rubio made clear that the U.S. would retaliate if Iran attacked Americans 'or American interests.' 'There are no planned military operations right now against Iran, unless — unless — they mess around and they attack Americans or American interests. Then they're going to have a problem,' he said. Rubio said he would not 'broadcast what those problems are' but stressed U.S. capabilities to carry out sophisticated attacks. 'Know this: The United States flew halfway around the world, right into the heart of Iran, over their most sensitive locations — these things got rocked — and then we left. And we were out of their airspace, we were over the ocean before they figured out what had happened,' Rubio said. 'And there are plenty of other targets — We don't want to do that. That's not our preference. We want peace deals with them, and that's up to them to decide,' he continued. Trump announced Saturday evening that U.S. forces bombed three Iranian nuclear sites and said to Iran, in a social media post, 'NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!' The bombs targeted three nuclear sites in Natanz, Esfahan and Fordow, located inside a mountain. Six 'bunker buster' bombs were reportedly dropped on Fordow, while more than two dozen Tomahawk missiles were launched at the other two sites. The bombings put the U.S. directly in Iran's crosshairs for retaliation and made it an active participant in the Mideast war, which Israel launched with airstrikes against Iran on June 13.
