Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari garnered immense praise for her performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. However, despite the show's success, the actress revealed that she didn't get any work for a year and is yet to sign a new film or a show. In a recent interview, Aditi addressed the challenges that women continue to face in the entertainment industry.
While speaking to Lilly Singh, Aditi acknowledged the love and appreciation she received for Heeramandi and said, 'For example, after Heeramandi, it was wonderful. I got so much love, so much appreciation. So much everything. Have I signed my next show/film? No. I haven't. I'm still waiting.' She added, 'I got a lot from it. But yeah, I am still waiting.' Aditi further agreed with Lily's observation that how stories around women are often treated as exceptions rather than the norm and said, 'It is, yes. You are absolutely correct.'
The actress went on to reveal that despite Heeramandi's success, she hasn't received any new project. 'For example, after Heeramandi, it was wonderful. I got so much love, so much appreciation. So much everything. Have I signed my next show/film? No. I haven't. I'm still waiting.' She added, 'I got a lot from it. But yeah, I am still waiting.' Aditi said.
When asked Aditi whether it will be easy to create shows like Heeramandi, again, Aditi firmly denied and said, 'No, I don't think so. I hope so. I hope there will be a change.' She hopes rather than emphasising on gender roles, the power of storytelling captivates attention.
Along with Aditi, Heeramandi starred an ensemble cast including, Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sharmin Segal, and Taha Shah Badussha. Created by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the show premiered on Netflix on May 1, 2024.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Aditi will be next seen in Imtiaz Ali's O Saathi Re , starring Avinash Tiwary. She also has a family entertainer titled Parivarik ManuRanjan in her pipeline, alongside Pankaj Tripathi.

No hero or villain, in this psycho thriller, heroine dies, climax gives goosebumps, has 7.6 IMDb rating; Movie is…, actors are…
Here's a psychological thriller that will leave you stunned and completely shake your mind. What makes it even more intriguing is its IMDb rating of 7.6. The film doesn't feature a typical hero but stars three top leading actresses. Its biggest highlight is the climax – a shocking twist that will stay with you long after the film ends. The movie is written and directed by Prasanth Varma (in his feature debut). It is produced by Nani and Prashanti Tipirneni under their maiden production house Wall Poster Cinema. The name of this Telugu film is Awe. It tells the story of a girl named Kali, played by pan-India actress Kajal Aggarwal. Kali suffers from multiple personality disorder and experiences memory loss. The film begins with a man who builds a time travel machine and wants to go back in time to meet his parents, whom he never got the chance to know. Parallelly, there is a woman named Mira (played by Regina Cassandra), who is a drug addict. Mira works at a restaurant and, along with her boyfriend Sugar, plots to steal money from a wealthy investor. One day, she finds a necklace inside a tree at the restaurant and keeps it for herself. Awe shows different and surprising stories of characters named Moksh, Radha, Meera, Krish, Naal, Shiv, Yogi and Parvati. But in the climax, it is revealed that all these were mere dark imaginations. These characters represent the different dark phases of her life. When she feels burdened by her illness, she commits suicide to end these imaginary characters. This film also features Nithya Menon in an important role. Apart from this, Murali Sharma of 'Golmaal' also has a special role. The film can be watched on Netflix.
