Recent success has Florida Gators surging in latest Baseball America's rankings
The Florida baseball program started its 2025 Southeastern Conference schedule by winning just one of its first 12 games this spring. However, the tides have turned of late and the Gators are surging back up the standings with one more weekend left in the regular season.
Since that 1-11, Kevin O'Sullivan's squad has gone 12-3 with series wins against the Texas Longhorns, South Carolina Gamecocks, Arkansas Razorbacks, Mississippi State Bulldogs and Missouri Tigers. The final straw that snapped Florida into action was a three-game sweep in Gainesville at the hands of the Vanderbilt Commodores ahead of that 15-game turnaround.
As a result of the recent success, the Gators are now ranked 13th in Baseball America's top 25 rankings, put together by Peter Flaherty and Jacob Rudner — up from No. 22 in the previous rankings.
What Baseball America says about Florida
"Florida bounced back from its midweek loss to South Florida with a statement road series win at then-No. 2 Texas in which it bookended the weekend with a pair of victories," they begin.
"Eight different Gators hitters drove in at least one run, but their pitching was the biggest bright spot this weekend. In Sunday's series-clinching win, freshman Aidan King was sensational and collected nine strikeouts across seven shutout innings," they continue.
"After appearing to be dead in the water in early April, Florida is potentially a series win over No. 16 Alabama away from hosting."

Based on application, the sports shotgun market has been categorized into competition and hunting. The demand for shotguns in competition applications is steadily increasing due to a combination of rising global participation in shooting sports, institutional support, and continuous innovation in firearm technology. More countries are investing in Olympic and national-level shooting programs, leading to a growing number of athletes taking part in disciplines such as trap, skeet, sporting clays, and 3-gun competitions. This is further supported by increased government funding, the establishment of sports shooting federations, and the development of training infrastructure, which collectively create a structured environment for competitive shooting. The proliferation of private shooting clubs, training academies, and regional tournaments has also expanded access to the sport, encouraging both professional and amateur shooters to invest in high-performance competition shotguns. Additionally, firearm manufacturers are introducing advanced models with features such as reduced recoil, enhanced balance, adjustable stocks, and precision trigger mechanisms tailored to the needs of competitive shooters. The growing popularity of dynamic shooting events like 3-gun competitions, where speed and reliability are critical, has further fueled demand for semi-automatic and tactical shotguns. Enhanced media coverage and sponsorships have improved the visibility and appeal of shooting sports, particularly among younger demographics, contributing to a broader consumer base. It delivers consistent shot patterns and sufficient range, making it ideal for disciplines like trap, skeet, sporting clays, and 3-gun competitions. Its widespread availability, variety of ammunition options, and compatibility with most competition-grade shotguns make it the standard choice for both amateur and professional shooters.
