Spilt Milk: Australian festival locked in for 2025 following cancellation

7NEWS01-05-2025

Australia's biggest single-day touring festival Spilt Milk is officially locked in for 2025, with dates and locations revealed on Thursday.
The announcement comes after the festival's social media teased an imminent return for weeks.
The event will kick off in Ballarat on December 6 and then come to Perth's Claremont Showground on December 7.
Canberra will see all the action on December 13 and the Gold Coast on December 14.
Festivalgoers will wait with bated breath until the line-up is announced in the coming days.
In the past the festival has attracted headliners such as Aussie producer and DJ Dom Dolla, Post Malone, Lorde, Flume, Khalid, FISHER, Peach PRC, Latto and Steve Lacy.
The festival did not go ahead in 2024 and no reason was given for the cancellation.
However, in November a spin-off event of the festival called Spilt Milk House Party entertained hundreds of music lovers at Kings Park.
Troye Sivan and Glass Animals headlined while other acts like G Flip, Sycco and Artemas performed during the afternoon.

What to Watch: Stranded On Honeymoon Island, Joh: Last King Of Queensland, The Bear, Ironheart & Squid Game

Let's face it, our attention spans are getting shorter and shorter, and in this stacked TV landscape, it's taking increasingly wild reality formats to gain — and hold — our interest. Enter: Stranded On Honeymoon Island! As formats go, this one's an absolute doozy. It sees 12 Aussie singles paired up after a speed-dating event and packed off to marry one another. Not long after saying 'I do' they are turfed overboard (still in their wedding attire) from a boat floating somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, and must swim to a deserted tropical island — their home for the next 21 days! Yep — they are literally 'stranded on Honeymoon Island' . . . get it? 'Laying bare their past, stripping away emotional baggage and facing their fears head-on with nothing left to lose, they're about to take the biggest leap of their lives,' says an official release. Sign us up! Every few days a mysterious crate washes ashore, containing news from home, memories and games designed to help connect the couples with each other and the others also doing the experiment on nearby islands. They gather at Couples Cove regularly to discuss how things are going, and you know the tea will be spilt. If you've read this far and aren't immediately excited for this 'Survivor meets MAFS' concept, then this show is most definitely not for you. But for the rest of us — see you on the island! This feature-length doco sees actor Richard Roxburgh bring to life one of Australia's most controversial leaders. His dramatised scenes, directed by Kriv Stenders, are woven throughout the film, which takes a look at the divisive politician's life and time in office. Roxburgh gives a stunning performance, and for anyone with even a passing interest in this controversial figure, there will be much to absorb. Bjelke-Petersen is a towering presence in Aussie political history. One for history buffs and politics junkies alike. Based on the Marvel character of the same name, this miniseries is the 14th TV iteration of a comic book character from the Cinematic Universe — keeping up? This one's all about MIT student Riri Williams, who returns to Chicago after the events chronicled in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Dominique Thorne reprises her role from that film, and this is all about how her character gets mixed up with Parker Robbins/The Hood. If you are a Marvel fan, you'll know what that means. One for fans. The clock is ticking for Carmy and the crew to make things work at The Bear. But as we check back in with them for a fourth season, things are on a knife edge. If you've seen the trailers you'll know that Uncle Jimmy is turning the screws on them financially, and they'll need to band together to weather the storm. But is that even possible? There is a LOT of water under that particular bridge. I'm fascinated to see where they take us this season — here's hoping it isn't the show's last. To say this series has been a worldwide hit would be doing it a gross disservice — it's been nothing short of a global phenomenon. This third season is its last, and fans are eagerly awaiting the series drop (all episodes land at once), to find out how the disturbing story ends. Something tells us it's going to be nothing short of epic as Gi-hun (Player 456, played by Lee Jung-jae) and Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) square off one final time. This one's big — do not miss it.

Aussie woman's shocking find in her Chinese takeaway

An Australian woman got more than she bargained for when she found an unsual item at the bottom of her Chinese takeaway. TikTokker Shraddha, or shraddyvibes, posted a video to the social media platform detailing the story of how she ended up getting $50 back from her meal from the bizarre find. After eating a portion of the meal, the Adelaide woman kept picking away at the stir fry until she noticed something was off. 'The container was feeling a little bit weird... at the bottom of the container was a working phone,' she explained. 'I pressed on the screen and it said the screen was (too hot), it was still working.' She had come away with a meal and a new phone from the takeaway, a bizarre find to say the least. After the gross realisation, she decided to get to the bottom of it and gave the restaurant a buzz. If you'd like to view this content, please adjust your . 'Apparently the chef put the phone down in the takeaway container, and because it was black... it just blended in with the container. 'Then someone else had grabbed the container and put the hotpot on top.' The TikTokker drove back to the establishment and was greeted by apologetic staff — and a cheeky refund. Luckily she lived close by to the restaurant and didn't need to heat up the food, otherwise it could of ended in a disaster. Despite the mishap, the woman elected not to name and shame the restaurant saying, 'mistakes happen'. Viewers also found humour in the incident. 'Dinner with a side of phone ! 😂,' one person commented. 'This has to be an original experience 🤣💯,' another wrote.

Simon Baker shocks as the Aussie actor attends major film festival in open-toe Birkenstocks

Simon Baker has popped up in Italy, where he attended an exclusive media event looking every part the quintessential casual Australian. The Aussie A-lister attended the Filming Italy Sardegna Festival at Forte Village in Cagliari, Sardinia alongside other Hollywood Talent on Thursday. The film and television event, now in its 8th edition, will present more than 70 films, which are either Italian or world premieres, until Sunday, with the aim of spotlighting Italian and international cinema and supporting talent. Baker is set to receive the Filming Italy Excellence Award. The 55-year-old looked dapper as posed with the festival's General Director, Tiziana Rocca, and Twilight star, actress Ashley Greene. Baker donned his signature glasses, which he paired with a pair of jeans, a belt, and a light-coloured shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. However, it was the Boy Swallows Universe star's choice of footwear that baffled fans. Baker opted for a pair of moss-green Birkenstock slides instead of dress shoes for the occasion. The actor proudly paraded his unique style as Tiziana stood beside him and pointed to the famed Australian. A close-up shot of his shoes showed that they appeared slightly worse for wear but were still in good condition. "I love his simplicity," one fan wrote on Instagram. "He looks great," another person said. Baker traded the Hollywood lights for a country getaway in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, near where he grew up, in 2016. The laid-back celebrity in April championed the "beautiful frankness" of Down Under after having immersed himself in many parts of the world. "Once you start to assimilate back into our culture, you also realise there's a beautiful frankness to Australians that is priceless," he told Esquire Australia. "There's no flowery way of putting things; it's just direct. "And that level of authenticity is grounding. It's like a cosy blanket. It's very comfortable and familiar for me." The actor, who rose to fame as consultant Patrick Jane in The Mentalist from 2008 to 2015, broke his silence in April on the status of The Devil Wears Prada 2 and whether he'll reprise his role in the upcoming sequel. Baker played the elusive Christian Thompson in the 2006 hit and revealed to he's unlikely to make a comeback. "I haven't got the call up yet," he said. "So I don't know- probably not, no." It comes as there has been no word on whether Anne Hathaway's character, Andy Sachs, will return ahead of the sequel next May. The follow-up is expected to explore Miranda Priestly (played by Meryl Streep) grappling with the decline of the magazine industry while former assistant Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt) returns for a dramatic showdown.
