Over the last couple of weeks, the NBA rumor mill has been on fire with news and speculation surrounding Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant.
At this point, it seems to be a foregone conclusion that Durant will be playing elsewhere during the 2025-26 season. While there is a chance that could change, the Suns seem motivated to trade Durant and the 36-year-old superstar seems to want a new place to play.
With that being said, Phoenix will still need to find a trade that it likes and Durant will need to be willing to play with and stay with that team.

Photo byCurrently, the most likely destinations that Durant would like to play for are the Miami Heat, Houston Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs. However, the Suns are not liking the trade offers they're receiving from those teams.

There is one team that Phoenix does seem interested in working with.
That team is none other than the Minnesota Timberwolves, but there is one problem. Durant has been very clear that he's not interested in playing for the Timberwolves.
Despite his lack of current interest in Minnesota, the Suns are reportedly trying to direct him towards having interest in playing for the Timberwolves. Minnesota has been in the Western Conference Finals in each of the last two years.
According to a report from NBA insider Sam Amick, Phoenix would like Durant to open up to a trade to the Timberwolves.
"(They Suns) clearly don't like what they're hearing from San Antonio, Houston and Miami. Kevin has made it clear in different conversations that, at times anyway, that he was really focused on the Spurs. They're not showing a ton of incentive to get a deal done," Amick said.
"Phase two, to me, of these talks is that the Suns clearly like what they could possibly get out of Minnesota, but the Wolves are not gonna play that game at all unless they are confident that Kevin wants to come. Phoenix is almost trying to nudge him in that direction. ... I still feel like we're a little ways away."

Durant would be a huge step towards contention for any team that acquires him. He's still one of the best scorers in the NBA.
During the 2024-25 season with the Suns, he averaged 26.6 points, six rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game, while shooting 52.7 percent overall and 43 percent from three-point range.
It will be interesting to see what the coming days and possibly weeks have in store when it comes to Durant. For now, the talks are ongoing with no clear direction.

Brooklyn Nets jersey history No. 20 - Randy Mahaffey (1968-69)

The Brooklyn Nets have 52 jersey numbers worn by over 600 different players over the course of their history since the franchise was founded in 1967 as a charter member of the American Basketball Association (ABA), when the team was known as the "New Jersey Americans". Since then, that league has been absorbed by the NBA with the team that would later become the New York Nets and New Jersey Nets before settling on the name by which they are known today, bringing their rich player and jersey history with them to the league of today. To commemorate the players who played for the Nets over the decades wearing those 52 different jersey numbers, Nets Wire is covering the entire history of the franchise's jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. The 21st of those 52 different numbers is jersey No. 20, which has has had a total of 28 players wear the number in the history of the team. The second of those players wearing No. 20 played in the (then) New York (now, Brooklyn) Nets era, forward alum Randy Mahaffey. After ending his college career at Clemson, Mahaffey was picked up with the 16th overall selection of the 1967 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. The LaGrange, Georgia native would play parts of the first two seasons of his pro career with the ABA's (defunct) Kentucky Colonels instead, however, coming to an end when he was dealt to New York in 1968. His stay with the team would span just 48 games before he would be dealt again, this time to the (also defunct) Carolina Cougars in 1969. During his time suiting up for the Nets, Mahaffey wore only jersey No. 20 and put up 13.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game. All stats and data courtesy of Basketball Reference.

Golden State Warriors jersey history - No. 15 - Phil Chenier (1981)

The Golden State Warriors have had over 600 players don the more than 60 jersey numbers used by their players over the more than 75 years of existence the team has enjoyed in its rich and storied history. Founded in 1946 during the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- a precursor league of the NBA) era, the team has called home the cities of Philadelphia, San Francisco, Oakland, and even San Diego. To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Warriors Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. For this article, we begin with the 15th of 27 players who wore the No. 15 jersey for the Warriors. That player would be Golden State guard alum Phil Chenier. After ending his college career at Cal, Chenier was picked up with the fourth overall selection of 1971 Supplemental Hardship draft by the (then) Baltimore Bullets (now, Washington Wizards). The Berkeley, California native would play the first nine seasons of his pro career with the Bullets, and also played for Indiana Pacers before signing with the Golden State Warriors for the last stop of his NBA career in 1981, just nine games. During his time suiting up for the Warriors, Chenier wore only jersey No. 15 and put up 3.2 points per game. All stats and data courtesy of Basketball Reference.

Former ESPN host unleashes scathing Stephen A. Smith attack

Former ESPN host Jason Fitz didn't like Stephen A. Smith's comments about Memphis — and called him out for it. Fitz, who worked on ESPN's digital side and the radio, claimed that Smith is often unprepared during an appearance during an appearance on 92.9 ESPN in Memphis on Tuesday following the 'First Take' host's controversial comments on the Tennessee city. Smith said on the show that while Memphis is a great sports town some NBA starts don't feel safe there., 'But there's an element there where cats like Jimmy Butler and others don't feel it's the safest environment. I'm talking to the local authorities in Memphis,' Smith said. 'You've got to clean some of that stuff up because it's dissuasive to NBA players. They have talked about it. I know. They've told me.' Fitz responded by calling out Smith's preparedness. 'Stephen A. is one of the least prepared people I've ever worked with in my entire career,' Fitz said. 3 Jason Fitz attends the Allstate Party at the Playoff, hosted by ESPN & CFP on January 7, 2023 in Los Angeles, California. Getty Images for ESPN & CFP Fitz mentioned how he often worked 80-hour weeks during his final fall with the network before being laid off in 2023, questioning how Smith would have time to generate informed opinions on Memphis. 'Now, Stephen A. is busier than I ever was. We see him making content 24/7,' Fitz said. 'So, I guess my question to people in Memphis is: how much Memphis do you think he's actually absorbed? And I mean all of it. Memphis culture, Memphis basketball. 3 Stephen A. That's all he knows. He is so separated from actual reality. What does he know?' Fitz also claimed that Smith 'eats and breathes stereotypes,' while also saying that he likely has not watched a Grizzlies game in years. 'Stephen A. walks and talks and lives and eats and breathes stereotypes,' Fitz said. 'That's all he knows… Frankly, he has to talk about the city of Memphis because my guy hasn't watched a single Memphis basketball game in probably three years.' 3 Memphis Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane (22) shoots the ball past Oklahoma City Thunder guard Isaiah Joe (11) during the first half in Game 4 of an NBA first-round playoff series Saturday, April 26, 2025, in Memphis, Tenn. AP 'Stephen A. has a staff and info group that feeds him information so that he can have somewhat informed opinions, and they're usually not because he works too hard to actually watch any games,' added Fitz. Memphis Mayor Paul Young extended Smith an invitation to the city, and the ESPN personality accepted. 'Deeply appreciate your words and the sentiments that came with them,' Smith wrote on X on Thursday. 'Progress is what life is all about and when it comes to Memphis -where some dear friends of mine reside − I wish for nothing less. The people deserve nothing less. 'So with that said, I accept your invitation to come to your city, as your guest. Let's make it happen. I'm looking forward to it.'
