Who is Brendan Paul? Sean ‘Diddy' Combs' alleged ‘drug mule' testifies under immunity
As Sean 'Diddy' Combs' high-profile federal trial nears a turning point, former Syracuse basketball player Brendan Paul, described as the rapper's alleged 'drug mule,' took the stand Friday under an immunity agreement. He offered crucial testimony for the prosecution, according to a Fox News report. Paul, who was previously charged with felony cocaine possession (later dropped), was named in a 2024 civil suit by music producer Rodney 'Lil Rod' Jones.
Jones had accused Diddy of running a network involving sex trafficking, drugs, and weapons. Paul was alleged to have procured and distributed drugs and firearms on behalf of the rapper.
In court, Paul's testimony was expected to help prosecutors establish the predicate felonies required for racketeering charges under RICO laws. The Fox News report quoted criminal Nicole Blank Backer saying Paul is a witness to tie together the drugs allegedly used at Diddy's parties to control and coerce women.
Combs has been charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
As per the report, prosecutors alleged that Diddy ran an exploitative 'enterprise' where drugs and escorts were used to manipulate and abuse women during so-called 'freak off' parties.
One of the most harrowing testimonies came from the musician's ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, who detailed regular use of ecstasy, cocaine, ketamine, mushrooms, and GHB (the 'date rape' drug) during the 'freak-off' sessions. Cassie testified that these substances helped her disassociate from the traumatic sexual experiences she endured.
Another ex, identified only as 'Jane', said she was coerced into having sex with male escorts while Diddy watched. She claimed she felt trapped by financial dependence, as he paid her rent through what she dubbed as a 'love contract'. As per Fox News, Jane described physical violence, including being kicked, punched, and put in a chokehold. She also testified about being forced to take drugs before sex.

A Fox News report stated that Diddy's lawyer, Teny Geragos, tried to discredit the witnesses by pointing out their ongoing financial ties to the rapper. However, prosecutors claimed that each testimony showed a bigger picture of a system of abuse.
The report added that Paul is the fifth witness given immunity, and his testimony came as prosecutors got ready to end their case by the end of the week.
Diddy's legal team has changed its approach and now plans to present its defense in two to five days, a significant cut from the previously expected two weeks, the report stated.
Legal experts told the publication that while each account might not seem damaging on its own, the combined effect could back up the government's RICO charges. Becker, reportedly, said that each witness added a layer to the case, as together they form a web beneath Diddy which shapes the image of an organized criminal enterprise.
Brendan Paul is a former Syracuse basketball player who allegedly procured drugs for Diddy. He is testifying under immunity in the federal case.
Diddy is charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution under a federal indictment unsealed in September 2024.
Prosecutors believe Paul's insider knowledge can help prove predicate felonies, such as drug distribution, required to sustain the RICO charges.
The prosecution is expected to rest its case soon. Diddy's defense team plans to present its case within the next five days.

Ex-assistant to Sean 'Diddy' Combs says job included buying drugs, setting up sex parties
* Ex-assistant to Sean 'Diddy' Combs says job included buying drugs, setting up sex parties Brendan Paul testifies about hip-hop mogul's drug use * Paul says he bought Combs drugs but was not a 'drug mule' * Combs' defense says sexual activities were consensual By Luc Cohen NEW YORK, - Sean 'Diddy' Combs' former personal assistant testified on Friday at the hip-hop mogul's sex trafficking trial that he often bought drugs for his boss and set up hotel rooms for sex parties known as "wild king nights." Prosecutors hope the testimony by Brendan Paul, who worked for Combs from late 2022 through March 2024, will help them prove their racketeering conspiracy charge against Combs. Prosecutors say Combs used his businesses' resources to coerce women into ecstasy-fueled sexual performances with male sex workers. Combs, 55, has pleaded not guilty to all five criminal counts. His lawyers call the sexual activity consensual. The Bad Boy Records founder, a former billionaire who elevated hip-hop in American culture, could face life in prison if convicted. Prosecutors are winding down their case after six weeks, with defense witnesses expected to testify next week. Paul, testifying under immunity from prosecutors, said he bought Combs about $4,200 of marijuana and hundreds of dollars of ketamine during his employment. Jurors saw a text message in which Paul asked Combs' security staff to be reimbursed for his drug purchases. They also saw a Feb. 14, 2024 text message in which Combs wrote "You get me zans," which Paul said was a request to procure Xanax without a prescription. Paul said Combs ultimately obtained Xanax elsewhere, and used cocaine and ecstasy in his presence. Under cross-examination by defense lawyer Brian Steel, Paul said procuring drugs was a minor part of his job, and he thought the drugs were solely for Combs' personal use. "You were not some drug mule?" Steel asked. "Absolutely not," Paul said. Paul also said that before three or four "wild king nights," he stocked hotel rooms with lubricant, baby oil, liquor and a Gucci pouch filled with hard drugs. When Combs was done, Paul said he would put on gloves and clean up to avoid being billed by hotels for damage. Paul said he was charged with cocaine possession after being arrested on March 25, 2024, at Miami-Opa Locka airport in Florida while traveling to the Bahamas with Combs and other staffers. He said he put the cocaine in his bag after finding it while cleaning Combs' room that day, but forgot about it and did not tell law enforcement where it came from. Asked by prosecutor Christy Slavik why he kept silent, Paul said, "Loyalty." Paul said the cocaine charge was dropped. Delhi Court Allows Extradition Of Man For Trial In Rape Case In Scotland
New Delhi: A Delhi Court has allowed the extradition of a fugitive to stand trial in Scotland for sexual assault, rape and communicating indecently. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Pranav Joshi was hearing the matter over the Centre's December 2024 order appointing and requesting the court to inquire into the extradition request by determining whether a prima facie case was made out against the fugitive criminal (FC) Naijil Paul. In an order dated June 9, the court said, "Union of India is requested to extradite the FC Naijil Paul to the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for standing trial of the indictment charges against the FC before the High Court of Judiciary at Glasgow, Scotland through diplomatic channel." Till formalities of extradition were complete, Paul would remain in Tihar prison, it added. To avoid criminal prosecution in the UK, Paul fled to India but was arrested from Kochi in Kerala and brought to the national capital. According to the Centre's order, the United Kingdom government submitted a request for Paul's extradition, who was "wanted to stand trial in connection with the offences allegedly committed in Scotland" for sexual assault, communicating indecently among other offences. "Similar conduct under Indian laws amount to offence under Section 63 (rape), Section 74 (sexual assault), Section 75 (sexual harassment), Section 79 (word, gesture to act to outrage the modesty of a woman) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita which are punishable with more than one year imprisonment," it said.
