The son of iconic singer Cher, Elijah Blue Allman, sparked concern in disturbing footage as he appeared to be in a "zombie-like" state in soaring Californian heat
Shocking footage of Cher's son appearing "zombie-like" in intense heat has emerged. The disturbing scenes show Elijah Blue Allman being spoken to by law enforcement officers.
The footage came shortly before he was rushed to hospital high on drugs. He was seen receiving medical care after he was found by a friend standing 'statue still' in a garden. He is said to have appeared to be in a 'foggy, zombie-like' state during the ordeal.
According to witnesses from the area, the 48-year-old was badly sunburned and had swollen hands and feet. He was seen standing still in the 104F (40C) heat in California.
Footage of the incident was obtained by the Sun. The publication said police searched an AirBnb property, reportedly owned by his friend and Matthew Perry's ex Kayti Edwards, after he was taken to hospital. In the images, it appeared as though heroin and white fentanyl powder was visible across a side-table. There was also rolled up paper visible.
A "Danger" sign was later stuck to the property by they San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. The notice pinned to the front window explained "evidence of fentanyl" had been discovered. There was also Ring doorbell footage of Elijah looking unsteady on his feet.
Speaking of the situation and Elijah's condition, a friend told The Sun: "Kayti found him just standing there, unresponsive in her front yard, getting badly sunburned.
"He was blinking his eyes rapidly, but didn't acknowledge her at all. His hands and feet were also swollen, with scabs turning black, an affect of the drugs, that was what most concerned Kayti."
The insider claimed Elijah had been staying at the property for over a week after reaching out to his friend. "She met with him and took him out for dinner with her family and he stayed at a house she rents out, but she grew more and more worried about his odd behaviour," they added.
In a statement given to The Sun, pal Kayti said: 'Elijah and I have been close since we were teens. Although the whole thing that happened was really scary for me it could have been a lot worsened I am glad he's in a safe spot getting better.'
Earlier in the week, news of Elijah's hospitalisation was revealed. According to TMZ at the time, Elijah, who iconic singer Cher shares with the late Gregg Allman, is "very lucky to have survived."
An insider told the publication: "Cher is focusing on "doing everything she can to get him the help he needs". They added: "Just like any mother, Cher's only concern right now is for her son's well-being, and she's doing everything she can to get him the help he needs."
Elijah has a history of substance abuse. Two years ago his mum filed for a conservatorship to control his access to his money. The singer had previously claimed he was "substantially unable to manage his own financial resources due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues."
