Lilavati Trust files ₹1,000 crore defamation suit against HDFC Bank CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan over ‘malicious' statement
In a fresh twist in the HDFC Bank vs Lilavati Trust row, the Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust (LKMM Trust) has filed a ₹ 1,000 crore civil defamation lawsuit against HDFC Bank MD and CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan. The Lilavati Trust has accused the HDFC Bank CEO of making a series of 'malicious, false and defamatory' statements against it and its permanent trustee, Prashant Mehta. 'The Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust (LKMM Trust) has filed a ₹ 1,000 crore civil defamation lawsuit against Mr. Sashidhar Jagdishan, Managing Director & CEO of HDFC Bank, over a series of malicious, false, and defamatory statements made against the Trust and its Permanent Trustee, Mr. Prashant Mehta,' the Trust said in a statement. The Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai is overseen by the Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust. The Trust accused Jagdishan of undertaking a 'coordinated campaign to malign its reputation and obstruct its operations as a public charitable institution'. In addition to the ₹ 1,000 crore defamation suit, the Lilavati Trust has also filed a criminal complaint before the Metropolitan Magistrate of Girgaon, Maharashtra. The magistrate has issued a notice to HDFC Bank CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan, its spokesperson, and the corporate communication head. The Trust said that the criminal complaint and subsequent notice mark 'a significant step in holding the HDFC CEO accountable for what the Trust alleges is a deliberate and sustained smear campaign'. The Lilavati Trust said its actions were not retaliatory, 'but are in response to a sustained effort to discredit a respected charitable institution and its founding family without any supporting documentation or conclusive evidence from HDFC Bank to validate its claims'. Denying HDFC Bank's allegations, it said, 'The Trust and Prashant Mehta are not connected to the affairs of Splendour Gems in any manner whatsoever as fraudulently espoused by the CEO of HDFC.' Earlier this week, HDFC Bank CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan moved the Bombay High Court, seeking the quashing of an FIR filed by the Lilavati Trust. The FIR stems from a magistrate court's order, directing the police to investigate the charges of alleged financial fraud. The Lilavati Trust has alleged in the complaint that of the ₹ 14.42 crore misappropriated by its trustees, ₹ 2.05 crore was received by Jagdishan. It also claimed that the offer of ₹ 1.5 crore disguised as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to hospital staff shows the intent to destroy evidence and obstruct justice.

Have 4 wives, owns 38 private jets, 300 cars, 52 golden boats and..., he is world's richest king, his name is..., not richer than Mukesh Ambani, Adani
Have 4 wives, owns 38 private jets, 300 cars, 52 golden boats and..., this is world's richest king, his name is..., not richer than Mukesh Ambani, Adani There are many billionaires across the world, but very few live as richly and royally as King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand, also known as King Rama X. According to The Business Standard , he is believed to be the richest king in the world, with an estimated wealth of around Rs 3.7 lakh crore (which is about 43 billion US dollars). Where does his wealth come from King Vajiralongkorn didn't make his money like most businesspeople. His wealth comes from centuries of royal inheritance, and it grew even more after his father, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, passed away in 2016. Since then, he has made major investments in some of Thailand's biggest companies and owns a lot of valuable land and buildings. In fact he owns more than 17,000 properties in Bangkok alone which makes him one of the largest landowners in Thailand. These include hotels, old palaces, and commercial buildings, many of which earn large amounts of rent. A life of extreme luxury King Vajiralongkorn lives a life of true royal luxury. His collection includes: Over 300 luxury cars 38 private jets A fleet of 52 golden boats used for special royal events These boats are not for travel, but part of grand traditional ceremonies, showing the rich culture of Thailand's royal family. A royal with military training Born in 1952, he is the only son of King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit. Raised from an early age to take over the throne, he was given elite military training abroad, where he studied in the United Kingdom and then at the University of New South Wales in Australia, graduating in military studies. He also had pilot training and served with the Royal Thai Army, where he saw action in counter-insurgency campaigns during the politically charged 1970s. A controversial figure Even though his personal life has been full of headlines, he has been married four times and often attracts media attention. Out of the four, three of them ended in divorce and have been the subject of tabloid headlines. He also remains an important and powerful figure in Thailand. He represents both the rich royal tradition and the modern face of the monarchy. Meanwhile, in India… India's richest people are well-known business tycoons. As of May 2025, Mukesh Ambani is the richest Indian, with a net worth of about 92.5 billion dollars. Gautam Adani is second with 56.3 billion dollars, with businesses in ports, energy, and infrastructure. But even compared to these corporate giants, King Vajiralongkorn stands out—not just for his huge fortune, but for a lifestyle filled with palaces, private jets, golden boats, and royal ceremonies that few others in the world can match.

As US weighs Iran strike, Pakistan tries to recast itself as anti-terror ally — and India is watching closely
New Delhi: India is watching closely as Pakistan tries to reinvent itself as a victim of terrorism and is seeking to find a place as a key actor against extremism and a possible ally to the US in the conflict with several accounts, the meeting between Pakistani Field Marshal Asim Munir and US President Donald Trump lasted almost three hours, extending beyond the one hour allocated, and included key US administration advisors for West growing conflict in the region - with the attack on Iranian nuclear facilities by Israel overshadowing other issues and increasingly pointing towards a US intervention - has placed Pakistan in an advantageous position that it will try to leverage, people tracking the situation the core of Pakistani moves, sources feel, is an attempt to rebrand itself from a fountainhead of terrorism to a victim that is seeking Western help to counter outfits that present threats to the West. This is an old plot that Pakistan has successfully played against the West in the past before the discovery of Osama Bin Laden at Abbottabad and the subsequent distancing of the US administration and pulling back of military aid. A renewed attempt is being made, with the Iran crisis coming at a particularly fortunate time for Pakistan as the US looks for allies who can pressurise Tehran and provide support in case American forces decide to enter the battlefield. Sources said Pakistan has managed to find some success in getting to Washington DC by exploiting the gap in the Pentagon that exists due to the structuring of its military commands across the world. The US Central Command (CENTCOM), which deals with Pakistan, is at the centre of action right now due to the troubles in West Asia. The Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) which deals with India and China was earlier more central to decision-making and planning in Washington DC. Its views of Pakistan as a close partner of China, increasingly dependent on Beijing for military equipment, training and intelligence, were a counter to the CENTCOM's motives of using Pakistani support for anti-terror operations in its area of said Pakistan is likely to use the situation to play the US against China, though in the long term it will remain dependent on Beijing for weapons, training and funding. The worry is, that in the short run, Pakistan may bargain to get access to US equipment and technology in the garb of fighting terror. It has been seen in the past, including when India attacked terror camps in Balakot in 2019, that equipment provided to Pakistan to fight terrorism were used against at stake for India will be the partnership with the US that has been growing in the military sphere and includes plans to co-develop cutting edge weapon systems. India has been increasing its dependence on the US for critical defence equipment, including engines for indigenous LCAs, maritime surveillance equipment and satellite difference is that while India is seeking technology and equipment from the US to counter an increasingly aggressive China, Pakistan may try to seek the same against India, in the garb of fighting terrorism.
