Exciting Kaitlyn Chen News Features Paige Bueckers Twist

Exciting Kaitlyn Chen News Features Paige Bueckers Twist originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Kaitlyn Chen is finally getting her shot at the WNBA, and it couldn't come at a better time for her. On Sunday, the Golden State Valkyries signed Chen to a contract amid their need for more players. It comes after a number of their players — such as Janelle Salaun, Julie Vanloo, Cecilia Zandalasini and Temi Fagbenle — took a temporary leave to join their respective nations for EuroBasket 2025. Advertisement According to the Valkyries, the 23-year-old guard will be immediately available to play when they return to action on Tuesday. What many fans quickly noticed about the announcement, however, was the team that the Valkyries will be facing in Chen's first game: the Dallas Wings. The Wings have Paige Bueckers, whom they drafted No. 1 overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft. The star guard was also teammates with Chen with the UConn Huskies, and they both won the national championship together this past college basketball season. With that said, fans couldn't help but get excited about Chen's signing and the timing of her first game with the Valkyries. "Chen vs Paige, going to be so fun to watch," a commenter wrote. Another excited supporter said, "[Expletive] Kaitlyn!!! And we get our K&P reunion." Advertisement "Against Dallas. Lol," a follower noted, clearly seeing the Chen-Bueckers connection. A fan remarked, "Nat thinks she's slick. She wants her to guard Paige." "Yay!! Her and Paige get to reunite.. so happy for her and the Valks," a social media user shared. A sixth poster gushed, "JUST IN TIME FOR A UCONN REUNION." Former UConn Huskies players Paige Bueckers, Aubrey Griffin and Kaitlyn Chen. Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images It remains to be seen how much playing time Kaitlyn Chen will get and if she will have the chance to guard Paige Bueckers. One thing is certain, though: the Wings-Valkyries showdown is a must-watch with its UConn storyline. WNBA Team Turns Heads With Kaitlyn Chen Announcement

WNBA Team Turns Heads With Kaitlyn Chen Announcement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. When Kaitlyn Chen was cut by the Golden State Valkyries before the 2025 WNBA season started and no other team picked her up, it seemed like it would take some time before she got another crack at the league. Advertisement Furthermore, after news surfaced that she was joining the 3XBA — a 3-on-3 women's basketball league — hopes diminished that she would be seen wearing a WNBA uniform any time soon. As it turns out, though, fans didn't need to wait for long to see the former UConn Huskies guard and one-time NCAA champion in the top professional women's basketball league in the U.S. On Sunday, the Valkyries announced that they had signed Chen to a contract and that she would be available to play as soon as their next game against the Dallas Wings on Tuesday. "Roster Update: The Golden State Valkyries have signed guard Kaitlyn Chen," the Valkyries announced. Advertisement "Chen will join the team immediately and be available against Dallas on Tuesday." Kaitlyn Chen's signing comes amid the Valkyries' need for more players following the temporary departures of Janelle Salaun, Julie Vanloo, Cecilia Zandalasini and Temi Fagbenle for EuroBasket 2025. The international competition starts June 18 and lasts until June 29. Regardless of the reason for her signing, Chen's return to Golden State was welcomed by a large number of fans. "This makes me very happy. Congrats Kaitlyn!" a commenter wrote. Another one echoed a similar sentiment, noting, "oh my gosh this makes me so happy!!!" Advertisement "Yesssss!!!! Just when I didn't think I could love you guys any more," a fan said. A follower remarked, "UConn championship Chen activated." "This is great news I hope she comes back on fire," a supporter shared. A sixth fan admitted, "This is healing." Golden State Valkyries guard Kaitlyn Chen (2) before the game against the Los Angeles Terada-Imagn Images When the Valkyries waived Chen — whom they selected No. 30 overall in the draft — several supporters blasted Golden State for not giving her a chance and even accused the team of using her only for publicity. Now, the 23-year-old guard is getting an opportunity to prove herself. Chen should have enough chances to show the Valkyries that she can make an impact at the highest level. Including the Wings game, Golden State has six outings until the end of the EuroBasket — although some Valkyries players on leave could return sooner depending on how far their respective teams go in the tournament.
