EXCLUSIVE Met terror cop winner of bravest officer in England award after he stopped a Samurai sword attack is suspended after being charged with sexual assault
A Met Police counter terror firearms officer once named the bravest officer in England and Wales has been suspended after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at a train station.
Sergeant Stephen Brown, 47, is claimed to have sexually touched the woman without her consent at Biggleswade Railway Station on November 29 2019.
The force said: 'We are aware that a serving Met officer has been charged with sexual assault following an alleged incident in November 2019. He is currently suspended.'
Brown was previously the recipient of a national bravery award in 2014 after he tackled a samurai sword-wielding attacker.
The knifeman repeatedly lunged at him with the weapon until the officer moved inside its arc and struck him with his metal baton.
Ahla Timofei, then 26, dropped the sword and Sgt Brown leapt on top of him, holding him down until colleagues arrived.
When they searched his rucksack they found a terrifying arsenal of weapons including a crossbow, mallet, machete and gas masks.
Brown was named the overall winner of the Police Bravery Awards at a ceremony in Central London, recieving the award from then-head of the Met Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe.
Ex-Prime Minister Theresa May lauded the officer, saying his actions were 'a powerful reminder of the commitment and courage that police officers bring to their role'.
Brown, of Sandy, Central Bedfordshire, appeared at Stevenage Magistrates Court in November, when he entered a plea of not guilty.
He is set to appear at St Albans Crown court in September.
British Transport Police, who charged Brown, said: 'Stephen Brown, aged 47, of Sandy, Bedfordshire, will appear at St Albans Crown Court on Monday 1 September charged with sexual assault.
'The charge relates to an incident that took place at Biggleswade station on 29 November 2019.'
The dramatic confrontation involving Sgt Brown took place when he was called to an attack on a woman in Holloway Road, North London.

Witnesses heard the victim's screams after Timofei set upon her with his sword, severing her thumb and leaving her with wounds to her face, arms and legs.
As his partner gave first aid to the bleeding 22-year-old Italian woman, Sgt Brown confronted the sword-wielding maniac alone.
Describing what happened, Sgt Brown said: 'I was running full pelt at him and he turned around and raised the sword straight up in the air.
'He swung downwards and the sword missed my neck by about a foot. I stepped back and said 'put the sword down', but he didn't listen and took a few more swings.
'After spraying him he went to scratch his eye and I thought, I've got to do this now. I rushed in and he raised his sword again but I hit his arm as many times as I could and managed to jump on top of him and the cavalry arrived.
'I could see in his eyes he wanted to kill me. I wasn't going to see Christmas: I thought my luck had run out.'
Sgt Brown was guided to the swordman by a passer-by who saw the original attack and followed him while on the phone to a police operator.
The officer said: 'I have no doubt that he wasn't going to stop until he killed someone that night. I also have no doubt that any cop would have done the same.
'I'm not a hero: the real hero is the member of the public who went above and beyond and followed him, having seen what he had done.'
Timofei, 26, was later found guilty of attempted murder and affray and a judge ordered that he spend the rest of his life in a secure mental health unit.
Then-Home Secretary Theresa May said: 'The actions of Sgt Stephen Brown are a powerful reminder of the commitment and courage that police officers bring to their role.
'He put his own life in danger to defuse a terrifying situation. His intervention protected the public and may well have saved the lives of others.
'We should reflect on the bravery shown by all the officers nominated, and that displayed by all police officers in the course of their duties each day.'
Steve White, chair of the Police Federation of England and Wales, added: 'I am constantly humbled and amazed by the selfless acts of bravery carried out by police officers on a day to day basis.
'For every act of courage and bravery recognised in the Police Bravery Awards there are hundreds more that occur in our communities every day that go unrecognised.'

"Individuals who act in this way can expect to be investigated and where there is sufficient evidence prosecuted and banned from attending games."Dunbar was also given a 12-month community order and instructed to carry out 200 hours unpaid work, increased from 150 hours due to the racial element, the Crown Prosecution Service was also ordered to attend 10 rehabilitation days and pay costs of £85.

I thought this Government of Gaslighters had reached its apogee of untruth with Darren Jones's suggestion that most of the illegal migrants crossing the Channel were ' women, children and babies '. When it was pointed out to the Chief Secretary to the Treasury that the Home Office's own figures showed the crossings since January 2025 comprised 81 per cent adult men, he later conceded he 'could have been clearer'. 'I was telling a story about a visit I had to the border security command where I was shown a number of dinghies which did have women, babies and children in them', he insisted, prompting understandable cries of 'liar' on social media. But he's not the only Labourite who has been taking the public for fools. They're all at it. This week, Leader of the Commons Lucy Powell told the chamber, with a straight face: 'We never ruled out returning to the issue of a national inquiry [on grooming gangs].' Yes, that's the same Lucy Powell who accused Tim Montgomerie, the founder of the ConservativeHome website, of peddling 'dog whistle' politics on Radio 4's Any Questions, merely for asking whether she had seen a recent Channel 4 documentary on the scandal. 'Oh, we want to blow that little trumpet now do we', she sneered. 'Let's get that dog whistle out shall we'. Powell's fib came after Home Secretary Yvette Cooper performed a politically expedient u-turn and announced there would, in fact, be a judge-led national inquiry into the rape gangs scandal – having spent the previous year saying we didn't need one. Had the Government admitted it had got it wrong, and changed its mind, it would have been fine. But instead a succession of MPs insisted that they had always wanted a judge-led statutory inquiry and that it was all Kemi Badenoch's fault that the Conservatives hadn't already held one – even though Sir Keir Starmer had suggested that she would be 'jumping on a far-Right bandwagon' for doing so. Such is the utter hypocrisy of Labour's position that Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, of 'Tory scum' fame, called for the issue to be depoliticised, yet when asked by Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp if she would apologise for the Prime Minister's 'far-Right' slur, attacked the opposition for its inaction. Natalie Fleet, the Labour MP for Bolsover, herself a sexual abuse survivor, then took to the airwaves to attack the Conservatives for failing to do enough, while completely failing to mention all the Labour councillors and MPs who covered it up for fear of inflaming 'community relations'. When Telford MP Shaun Davies was the town's council leader, he opposed a local grooming gang inquiry. In 2016, he wrote to the home secretary and prime minister along with nine other local authority figures, saying: 'We do not feel at this time that a further inquiry is necessary.' Yet in a statement to The Telegraph this week, his spokesman insisted: 'To suggest Shaun Davies attempted to obstruct a local inquiry would be completely incorrect.' Do these people think we are as stupid as they are? And they wonder why trust in politics is at an all time low. Jess Phillips is the kind of self-righteous political narcissist who insists that anyone who disagrees with her is a gaslighter. Yet she too has taken this form of psychological manipulation to new heights with the claim, on Newsnight, that she had 'never turned a blind eye' to what was going on. The Minister for Safeguarding and Violence Against Women and Girls, who nearly lost her Birmingham Yardley seat to a pro-Palestinian Workers Party opponent at the last general election, rejected Oldham Council's request for national support for the inquiry. She repeatedly refused to acknowledge the racially motivated nature of the crimes and criticised the Conservative MP Katie Lam for raising the ethnicity of the perpetrators and yet told the BBC: 'I would never shy away from calling a problem what it is'. (She also once compared the Cologne sex attacks to 'a typical night out in Birmingham'). These were precisely the politicians who would regularly accuse Boris Johnson of being a liar. Maybe he was economically with the truth. But this Labour government has reached plumbed new depths of dishonesty that make Partygate look like, well, a piece of cake. I've checked the Labour Party Manifesto 2024 (preferable to sleeping pills if you're struggling to bed down in this heat), and there is no mention in there of either assisted dying or changing the abortion laws. Yet both have been ramraided through Parliament without the public even being consulted. So much for Starmer's pledge, on the steps of Downing Street almost a year ago, that: 'My government will serve you.' When he promised a 'return of politics to public service,' I don't think anyone thought it would mean bunging his union buddies huge payrises while the private sector, which employs 83 per cent of the total workforce, is shafted by Rachel Reeves's Budget. That was the biggest deceit of them all, that Labour wouldn't tax 'working people'. In fact, the £25 billion increase to employers' National Insurance contributions has done exactly that. When Rishi Sunak tried to do the same in 2021, the Chancellor personally lambasted the plan as a 'jobs tax'. She's another Labour politician who thinks we haven't kept the receipts. It's as insulting to the electorate as her continual claim that rising inflation and unemployment, combined with record business closures and a millionaires' exodus is absolutely nothing to do with her and all down to Donald Trump. This is weapons' grade gaslighting. Similarly, we are all supposed to believe that she reversed the cuts to the winter fuel allowance because 'the economy is doing better', even though we learnt this week that the UK has suffered the second highest fall in wealth of any major economy. Growth is down, retail sales are down, hirings are down – and despite what they say, it's all of Labour's making. Need we even get started on Starmer's hollow claim that he is 'standing up for Britain's interests' when he can't even seem to decide whether the murderous mullahs of Iran should have nuclear weapons that could wipe out western civilization? Yet again, he's being egged on by his bestie Lord Hermer, who gaslit the electorate by insisting it was a good deal that we paid £30 billion to give away the Chagos Islands to China-backed Mauritius. We're supposed to believe he's a cuddly respecter of human rights…who likens Tories and Reform to Nazis. And these inadequates seriously expect us to believe they are capable of running the country? That's the biggest con of them all.

Adam Abdul-Hamid: How this mummy's boy grew up to be accused of the shocking gang rape that has horrified Australia - as more vile details of teenage girl's alleged ordeal emerge
Growing up with his Lebanese immigrant family in social housing in western Sydney, Adam Abdul-Hamid showed every sign of embracing the Aussie dream. Now the 19-year-old barber is accused of the shocking gang rape of a teenage girl. Abdul-Hamid - along with three other teens, aged 14, 16 and 17 at the time, who Daily Mail Australia can't name due to their age - is alleged to have assaulted and terrorised the victim in her car over a six-hour period on December 15. In total, the four face 64 sickening charges over the alleged attack, including multiple counts of rape and sexual assault, with the 16-year-old alone accused of raping her nine times during the ordeal. Dramatic police footage showed Abdul-Hamid being arrested at his Heckenberg home on Tuesday, while his family protested and swore. One of Abdul-Hamid's sisters screamed at police, 'don't sexual assault me', as she jostled with the officers. Detectives arrested the 17-year-old man, now aged 18, at a Sadleir property, also in Sydney's southwest, on the same day. The two other alleged offenders, a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old boy (who was 14 at the time), were arrested on December 20 and are also remanded in custody. Abdul-Hamid, described as a 'quiet' presence in the suburban cul-de-sac where he lived for years, has had an active online presence since he was about nine years old. Videos he posted to social media as a youngster showed him dancing, lip-syncing and kicking a footy, sometimes wearing his Sadleir Public School uniform or a Canterbury Bulldogs jersey. On one of his accounts, he proudly displayed a photo of himself hugging his mother tightly. As the self-described 'soulja of Allah' grew older, the content he shared changed to photos of him doing wheelies on a dirt bike on the streets of Sydney's west, working out, or showing off his physique with his hair tied up in his distinctive ponytail. Last year he started working as a barber at Blurry Blends Barbershop, a business apparently registered in his sister's name. The shop was located on Norfolk St in Liverpool, at the shopping centre where police say his alleged victim's ordeal began later that year. Social media accounts for the business have been scrubbed since Abdul-Hamid's arrest on Tuesday. In the December 15 incident, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly approached by a 16-year-old boy at 5.30pm at a shopping centre in Liverpool, 31km southwest of Sydney's CBD. The 'charismatic' 16-year-old allegedly followed the girl to her car and she reluctantly let him inside before he began sexually assaulting her,' police allege. A short time later, the male asked to be driven 5km to Wheat Park in Sadleir, to which the victim agreed on the understanding he would get out of the car when they arrived. At the park, two other males entered the car, and they also allegedly sexually assaulted the girl. A fourth male then arrived in another vehicle, and the alleged sexual assault continued as the girl was driven around 'erratically', with one of the alleged attackers at the wheel. The six-hour ordeal ended about 11.30pm when the males departed and left the girl in her car. The teenager immediately contacted a friend who took her to Liverpool Police Station to report the attack. 'It beggars belief that in this day and age men would think to act this way towards a girl,' said Sex Crime Squad commander Detective Superintendent Jayne Doherty. 'The four of them [allegedly] acted together, creating fear on the victim, degrading her, whilst the others offended against her, and at times, there was more than one person offending against this poor young girl,' she added. 'They haven't stopped at any point during that six hours and said, "This is wrong" to any of their co-offenders. 'That's the difficult part to come to terms with - that four people could act together and keep going at that type of offending over such a long time.' Abdul-Hamid was listed to appear for the first time at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday morning. His solicitor Muhammad Tehseldar made no application for bail but said he would be making a release order application for Abdul-Hamid in coming days. Outside court, Mr Tehseldar said Abdul-Hamid maintained his innocence and it would be inappropriate to make any further comment. The case was adjourned to Campbelltown Local Court on August 13.
