Major UK holiday resort launching £1 day passes for kids

Daily Mail29-04-2025

A major UK holiday resort has relaunched its popular £1 day passes for children - but families will need to be quick as the bargain deal is only available for a limited time.
This April and May, Butlin's is offering day passes on selected dates to all three of its resorts: Bognor Regis, Minehead and Skegness.
For just £1, toddlers, children and teens under 15 can enjoy an action-packed day out, where they can watch a range of incredible live shows, hop on unlimited fairground rides, whiz down water slides or take a dip in pools at Splash Waterworld, and more.
Between 29 April and 22 May and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, up to four children aged between 2 to 14 can visit for £1 each with one full paying adult pass, starting from £15.
Butlin's' incredible offer is back by popular demand following the launch of its £1 day pass in March, which saw a 30 per cent increase of day visitors across all three parks.
The Bognor Regis and Minehead resorts are open to day visitors from 10am to 8pm, while the Skegness resort is open until 6pm.
Throughout the day, little ones can be entertained with a packed schedule of live shows in the Skyline Pavilion, all included in the day pass.
Kids can show off their best moves with Peppa Pig herself in Peppa Pig's Dance Party or snap selfies with pre-historic predators at the brand-new Dino Expo.
Other live shows and entertainment include the all-year-round pantomime, Snow White and Her Magnificent Friends, the showstopping Animals and Mythical Beasts or The Butlin's Party Show hosted by Mister Maker.
For those looking to cool off in the midweek during warmer days, Splash Waterworld pools provide water-based fun for all at its three resorts.
Overflowing with rides, slides and flumes, as well as a dedicated tots pool, these can all be enjoyed during guests' two-hour swim slot, also included in the day pass.
Pass holders can also hop on unlimited fairground rides throughout the day, which includes a variety of family favourite rides, as well as tots-sized fairground rides at the Little Stars Fairground.
And as if the shows, pool and fairground weren't enough activities included in the pass, kids in Minehead and Skegness have the opportunity to explore the all-new £2.5 million SKYPARK, a modern playground children of all abilities can enjoy.
Meanwhile, Bognor Regis day visitors can bounce, climb and play in the brand-new £1.8mil Skyline Gang Soft Play.
At eight metres high and covering 3,000 square feet, the new space is filled across four storeys with climbing challenges, slides, log ramps, cargo nets and more, plus a multi-sensory space for babies.
What's more, for the same incredible price of £1, kids can enjoy a delicious meal from the kids' menu, available daily from 12 to 3pm in selected restaurants on resorts.

All action-packed day passes can be pre-booked online now on Butlins' website.
For guests who wish to extend their visit with a four-night Showtime Term-Time Midweek break, breaks start from £123 (£31 pp).
It comes as Chessington World of Adventures has announced it will be home to the first and only Paw Patrol-themed land.
The new multi-million pound land will be Chessington's largest attraction for preschoolers.
Set across 1.4 acres, it will feature four thrilling rides - including an entry-level 'My first rollercoaster' - as well as play areas, and interactive character 'meet and greet' events.

Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Instagram user Katy Birkelbach showed her followers the switch up she made on her children's sandpit Credit: instagram Instagram user Katy Birkelbach amassed a whopping 15.3 million views for her DIY alternative to an at-home sandbox. She decided to substitue the sand to avoid her children trekking it through her home. And while she said her replacement is "so much better than sand", other parents were quick to point out a potential hazard. Katy showed her audience how she used corn kernels to fill the pit for her toddler son and baby daughter. She showed footage of the children playing in the corn, with her son even using his toy trucks to scoop up the kernels. Instagram users voiced their concerns over the "dangerous" move in the comments section. "I worry about them putting the corn up their nose or in their ears," wrote one parent. "Also the choking hazard possibility has me so stressed," added another viewer. "Huge chocking hazard! I've seen some really sad stories! Also attracts bees," pointed out a third person. "OMG, if the baby puts that in her mouth she's going to choke," agreed another follower. Mums issue stark warning about 'dark Peppa Pig' videos going viral on YouTube set out to target and terrify your kids "Bad bad idea, if the baby puts it in to the mouth she can choke. You must be more clever than this," said one parent. "Isn't that a major choking hazard? I prefer to take the sand over corn," commented another person. One follower shared an additional way the corn could prove hazardour for children. "In the Balkans that was considered a punishment, kneeling on corn, hurts like hell," they said. Other viewers pointed out additional issues with the unique play set-up. How to survive six weeks of school summer holidays IF you are struggling with the six week summer holidays, you've come to the right place... BATTLING BOREDOM: Despite hours of activities and playdates, if your kids are already complaining there's nothing to do, parenting expert Liat Hughes Joshi says: 'Don't feel you have to organise every second of the holidays. Kids benefit from boredom and learn to make their own fun. 'Boredom can trigger creative and imaginative play but you need to encourage kids to get used to not being told how to spend their time. 'Ride out the pleas of boredom. Counter it with comments such as, 'What do you think you could do?' and maybe have a list of 'I'm bored' activity ideas on the fridge.' SCREEN OVERLOAD: It's tempting during the holidays to rely on a digital babysitter but don't let them gawp their whole summer away in front of a screen. Liat says: 'It's unfair to expect older kids to power down but it's important to set some ground rules. 'Set family tech rules together. If you're often distracted by your phone, follow the rules too. Maybe tell the kids they aren't allowed any screen time until they've done set chores, some exercise, or a board game. 'Are there times when you'd like to ban screens completely? Perhaps during dinner or when they have friends over to visit. 'Tech is a battleground for parents, but you have to set boundaries. Stand firm and be prepared to be unpopular.' TOO MUCH TOGETHERNESS: You love your kids, but being with them 24/7 can be exhausting. Do not feel guilty if you need a bit of downtime. Liat says: 'If you're juggling work and household tasks as well as occupying the kids, it's normal to start feeling overwhelmed or jaded and in need of some peace. 'If you can't afford or don't want to send your kids to all-day camps, look for free kids' workshops so you can get on with jobs or have a break for a couple of hours. 'Seeking a spell of quiet every now and then doesn't make you a bad parent — in fact it will probably make you more positive and enthusiastic when you are with the kids.' SCHEDULING CONFLICT: Schedules can go out the window during holidays, but late nights and early mornings can mean tired and unhappy children. Dr Tamara Bugembe, paediatrician and founder of says: 'Children get grumpy, test boundaries and become challenging when routines are broken. 'Sticking to some kind of routine during the holidays is a good idea. 'We release hormones at different times of the day and when regular meal times and bed times are broken, it causes dips and peaks in mood. 'Holidays are about having fun but an early night once or twice a week will make everyone happier.' EXCESS ENERGY: Make sure kids get out in the fresh air to tire them out — and make them healthier and happier. Dr Bugembe says: 'Sunshine also tops up vital vitamin D levels which helps improve bone strength and energy levels in children. Our levels run low in winter so let the kids stock up in warmer weather. 'Letting them run around in shorts and a T-shirt is the best way to top up. Make sure they're wearing sun cream, get outside and have fun. 'Encourage them to try healthy habits such as cycling and walking. They'll hopefully get hooked and want to carry them on when the weather gets colder.' "I was just thinking the squirrels would go nutsss!" wrote one Instagram user. "This is cute, but the rodents it would attract," said another concerned person. And another viewer simply pointed out how the corn would limi the fun of a sandpit. "'I don't want to build sandcastles anyway,' said no kid ever," they wrote.

Stephen Mulhern leaves lucrative £1,000,000 presenting gig after 3 years

Stephen Mulhern has wrapped up a lucrative £1,000,000 deal. Since starting his career at CITV hosting the children's TV show Finger Tips from 2001 from 2004, he's since gone on to present Britain's Got More Talent, Catchphrase, In for a Penny, Deal or No Deal and Dancing on Ice. However earlier this year the ice skating show, which first launched in 2006, was pulled by ITV. A few months on Stephen, 48, has confirmed he's stepping away from another major project. Starting when he was a child, Stephen began public magic performances at 11-years-old, performing at Butlin's Minehead during family holidays. He was also a Redcoat for two years. Over the past three years he's also returned to the seaside resort chain, performing at Minehead, Bognor Regis and Skegness. However, after he carries out a series of sell-out shows the summer, he won't be continuing his contract. A source previously explained: 'Stephen has been a massive hit with holidaymakers. He began his career as a Redcoat and has kept families brilliantly entertained.' In a statement to Metro, his representatives added: 'Stephen has absolutely loved being part of the Butlins family – performing his stage shows in front of thousands of holiday makers across the country and the relationship with Butlins remains hugely positive. 'This change allows Stephen to explore new opportunities in the family holiday space – something he's incredibly passionate about.' Stephen's final show – Out of this World – will celebrate his 25 year-career in showbiz with 'new illusions, new games, and new shenanigans'. Speaking ahead of the shows, he spoke about his love for performing at the resort. 'The answer is simple. Butlin's gave me my very first break into the entertainment industry. I was a Redcoat in Minehead for two years and I've never looked back,' he said. 'I owe a lot to Butlin's and that's why I love coming back and performing here.' In the past year, Stephen has faced the axing of two of his programmes – Dancing on Ice and In for a Penny. However, he will soon be back with new seasons of Catchphrase, Deal or No Deal, You Bet and the travel show, The Accidental Tourist. That series will see him pushed out of his comfort zone, travelling Asia under the guidance of Ant and Dec. Speaking about the upcoming release to the Daily Mirror, Stephen explained how difficult the experience was at times. 'No one's ever seen me cry on the telly, but it was quite nice to not be behind a format, I've never done that. You're going to see behind the razzle-dazzle if you like'. 'They film and they film, and they film and they just get everything. I think what you're going to see is a lot of emotion. You'll see me totally out of my comfort zone. More Trending 'My dad had just passed away, so that's the only thing. I'm gutted that he didn't see it,' he added. After his father Christopher died in November, one of the presenters' spokespeople explained how Stephen had been facing 'an incredibly tough time over the past few weeks'. Not long after he was rushed to hospital after collapsing in a Pizza Express, but fans were reassured he was 'recovering' soon after.
