Princess Catherine breaks from tradition in latest Father's Day tribute post to Prince William following doctored photo scandal
The Prince and Princess of Wales have released two new photos of Prince William with their three children to mark Father's Day, and royal fans quickly noticed a break from tradition.
The first photo shows the 42-year-old heir to the throne smiling proudly as he wraps his arms around Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven, who are dressed in coordinating outfits.
"Happy Father's Day, Papa (before and after!) We love you! G, C & L," the caption reads, with a second black and white "after" image showing William being affectionately swarmed by his laughing children in a field of daffodils in Norfolk.
Both images were taken by British photographer and videographer Josh Shinner- a noteworthy change given that in previous years, it's typically Princess Catherine herself who captures and shares such personal family moments.
Last year's Father's Day post featured a candid beach photo taken by the Princess, again at Norfolk, near the Waleses' beloved Sandringham Estate.
A keen amateur photographer, Catherine has long been known for documenting family milestones, including birthdays and special occasions.
But this year's decision to enlist a professional follows a storm of scrutiny over the Princess' infamous 2024 Mother's Day post.
That image, which showed Catherine with her three children and was taken by Prince William, was pulled by several major photo agencies amid allegations of manipulation.
Meta also flagged the photo for its "alterations" and it remains blurred on the Walses' Instagram account.
Among the issues raised were an apparent mismatch in Princess Charlotte's sleeve cuff and a misaligned zipper on the Princess of Wales' jacket.
At the time, Catherine issued a rare personal statement acknowledging she had edited the image.
"Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing," she said.
"I apologise for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother's Day. C."
She didn't go into detail about which tools she used or what changes were made- but the controversy came during a deeply private and difficult time for the 43-year-old mother-of-three.
In January, she had undergone major abdominal surgery, and weeks after the photo blunder, she revealed in a video message that she was battling cancer.
"William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately, for the sake of our young family," Catherine said at the time.
"As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment, but most importantly, it has taken time for us to explain to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them and to reassure them that I'm going to be okay."
In September, she confirmed she had completed her chemotherapy in a heartwarming video, showing her spending time outdoors at Norfolk with William and the children.
"Despite all that has gone before I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life," she said.

Indy Clinton hires private investigator to complete dossier on trolls leaving hurtful comments on her social media
Indy Clinton has revealed she has hired a private investigator to get the private details of those people leaving hurtful or 'troll' comments on her popular social media accounts. The mother-of-three, who has 650,000 Instagram followers, confirmed the move via a video. 'How it feels receiving a 64-page report from my PI after an extensive three-month investigation on all my ladies (mothers) who have continuously bullied, defamed and trolled me and my family for months n months and even years,' she wrote. Clinton looked pleased with herself as she danced around in the clip, including completing a number of jubilant twirls. Clinton divided opinion with the move, being praised by some of Australia's biggest names. 'Think I might do this too. You are not anonymous trolls,' AFL WAG Rebecca Judd wrote. 'Queen sh*t,' Perth influencer, Em Davies, added. 'This. I found out who my troll was too - it was one of my clients. Blew my mind that most 'trolls' are people we know,' Felicity Morgan wrote. Trolling remains a grey area when it comes to the law. However, if the harassment passes the legal threshold for adult abuse, it can be reported to the eSafety commissioner. The harassment could also contravene existing defamation or harassment laws. Other followers were less sympathetic. 'So, you got a PI because people troll you. Yet, you're the one that puts up all the ridiculous things you do. Exploiting your children and husband then you complain because people make harsh comments. Yet, it's never affected you enough to stop posting. You just found a new angle to get attention,' one person wrote. 'Have fun with that. Trolling isn't illegal,' another wrote. 'Your weird,' another added. Clinton spoke to The Daily Telegraph about her decision to hire a private investigator. 'Some of the defamatory things which have been said about me in recent years are extremely distressing,' Clinton began. 'I will use my platform and my voice to not only spread awareness but to make an impact.' Clinton then spoke about the toll trolling has taken on her. 'Lives are being taken,' she said. 'For me - a few months ago - what I endured was life or death.'

JK Rowling reveals honest thoughts on Harry Potter TV series
Harry Potter author JK Rowling has given her approval of the hotly anticipated HBO MAX TV series adaptation after reading scripts for the first couple of episodes. The British writer became one of the most famous novelists on the planet in the late 90s upon rolling out the first of seven spellbinding books, and eight subsequent film releases, with several other fantastical stories to her name. Following the blockbuster success of the film series, Rowling joined HBO Max in 2023 as an executive producer, but not a full-time screenwriter. However, she was glowing her praise of the early scripts. 'I read the first two episodes of the forthcoming HBO Harry Potter series and they are SO, SO, SO GOOD!' she told fans on X at the weekend. If you'd like to view this content, please adjust your . To find out more about how we use cookies, please see our Cookie Guide. One fan asked Rowling to clarify her role, puzzled that she wasn't more closely involved in the writing process, considering her unmatched credentials. 'So you are not doing the writing for this show?' the X user asked. 'No, but I've worked closely with the extremely talented writers,' Rowling confirmed. The author has become a highly controversial figure online due to her very public transgender views and condemnation of 'woke' culture. Somewhat ironically, devout fans of the series have questioned the choice of creators to update the ethnicity of certain characters in a deviation from previous depictions. Some even argue that the 'race swapping' creates racial undertones where they may not have existed before. 'Race-swapping Snape changes the entire dynamic- and not in a good way. James bullies... a black guy. Lily rejects... a black guy. Snape being black injects racism into the story,' one user said. Other fans did offer support for the adaptation after devoting their childhoods to the fictional wizarding world. 'I am childishly excited for this series. This will be my 5-year-old Potter that she grows up with,' one fan wrote. 'I'm soooooo excited!!' another said. In May, the series revealed a new crop of emerging actors would play the three key roles, with Dominic McLaughlin to play Harry Potter, Alastair Stout cast as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton to star as Hermione Granger. The characters were previously played by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. HBO auditioned more than 32,000 children in pursuit of their Harry, with key figures outlining just how extensive the search for the key roles had been. 'The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen,' showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer and director Mark Mylod said in a statement. 'We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It's been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.' Filming is expected to begin in the European summer of 2025, with a likely premiere hitting screens in 2027.

Don't miss out on the headlines from Music. Followed categories will be added to My News. Miley Cyrus has been slammed for being rude 'rude' and disrespectful' after seemingly ignoring fans at a meet-and-greet in the UK over the weekend. The singer was at the Rough Trade East music store and bar in London to meet fans and promote her new album, Something Beautiful. Joining her was British supermodel Naomi Campbell, who features on the album on the funk-pop track, Every Girl You've Ever Loved. X SUBSCRIBER ONLY In a clip now going viral, Cyrus barely interacts with a fan who approach the table with her album in hand, nor does the singer look at the camera for a photo. Cmon Miley,' one fan tweeted on X, as another commented, 'Oh that's just disrespectful.' Miley Cyrus called been out for her 'rude' behaviour at a fan meet-and-greet in London. If you can't give your attention to fans, then don't agree to autograph sessions where pictures are also offered,' another wrote, as one noted, 'I'm pretty sure people paid to see them so if you're going to charge at least be polite and give them the time they paid for.' 'Ew that's effed she prob waited hours for that rudeness,' yet another agreed. Cyrus was joined by British supermodel Naomi Campbell, who also appeared to ignore fans at the event. Picture: X Other users came to Cyrus' defence, calling for understanding as fan meet-and-greets are no walk in the park. 'It is rude. but they see 100s of not 1000s of people. To try and sit there and talk to each and every one of them is a bit much. Not trying to defend their actions or anything, just sayin,' one wrote. 'They have hundreds of fans to meet. I don't blame them for not giving one on one attention to each one,' wrote another. In a photo with another fan, Cyrus doesn't even look at the camera. Picture: X Earlier this month, the Hannah Montana star was unexpectedly heckled by fans at a Q&A session at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York on June 6. The pop star was at the event to promote her upcoming musical film, Something Beautiful, which is released in line with her album of the same name. In videos posted online, Cyrus was in the middle of answering a question when a disgruntled fan shouted from the audience, 'We thought this was a concert. We paid $800.' 'Are you actually going to sing?' yelled another. 'Miley, sing The Climb!' Cyrus was heckled by fans at the Tribeca Film Festival in early June.
