Wales Under-20s signed off ahead of the World Rugby Junior Championship with a resounding 47-19 win over Italy at Cardiff Arms Park.Tries from Ioan Emanuel, Ioan Duggan along with Aidan Boshoff's brace and a Penalty try and Harri Ford's three conversions gave the hosts a 33-14 lead at the interval.Tries from Osian Darwin-Lewis and Duggan's second of the game – both successfully converted by Harri Wilde – saw Wales run out convincing winners.Head coach Richard Whiffin, who gave a run out to 29 players, names his squad on Tuesday for the tournament.It was Wales' last game before the head to the 2025 World Rugby Junior Championship which kicks off in Italy at the end of June.Wales' World Championship kicks off against Argentina on 29 June with games against France and Spain to follow.

Welshman Williams lays down Lions marker Tomos Williams laid down an early marker for a place in the Lions Test team after an impressive appearance off the bench against Argentina on Friday night. Williams replaced Alex Mitchell in the second half, injecting urgency and moments of class into the Lions play as they initially fought their way back into the match before succumbing to a 28-24 defeat. There were the usual deft touches and a real tempo to everything the Welshman did before a beautiful flat pass on the line sent Tadhg Beirne crashing over for a try. Sky Sports pundits Conor Murray and Sam Warburton were both impressed, picking out Williams as one of the players who really impressed on the night. Mitchell's service had been generally good in the first-half but his box kicking was loose at times. Evan Wood ready to make mark with Wales U20s at World Cup
The 20-year-old hooker will be a member of the 30-strong squad that will go up against Argentina, France and Spain in the group stages of the tournament in Italy. Wood, from Merthyr, was relieved to get the news from head coach Richard Whiffin that he made the cut after a very different call in 2024. 'I've been involved in the Six Nations for two years but was gutted to miss out on the World Cup last summer,' said the hooker, who featured on home soil at Pontypool Park in a warm-up fixture against England. 'I took some time to get over that and I really knuckled down this season because it was a main goal of mine to make the plane for Italy. It was amazing to get the good news and now I get to represent my country at a World Cup.' 'Everyone in the squad, whether starting, on the bench or prepping the team, is tight. We all understand our roles and everyone is pushing each other,' said Wood. 'That's probably why we got the best out of each other in the Six Nations and we'll need the same again because the boys who have been before say it's tough with games coming thick and fast. 'We will all have to be ready and prep well if we are to be a successful team.' Wood will sign off for age-grade rugby next month and then get ready for a first proper crack at SRC with Pooler after featuring on permit from Cardiff Met to cover for injured Dragons hooker Sam Scarfe. 'I played against Cardiff, Aberavon and Llandovery and enjoyed it, so I'm looking forward to getting back there,' he said. 'There was the opportunity to play in the SRC and I want to push myself at that level after playing for Cardiff Met. 'Pooler is a big club with great history, so it was a chance I couldn't turn down. I loved those few games and can't wait for next year.' Dragons prospect Scarfe is likely to be sent out for plenty more development in Torfaen next season but Wood, who played age-grade rugby for Cardiff, will push him hard for the 2 jersey. Player-coach Scott Matthews said: 'Evan made a real impact towards the tail end of last season filling in for the injured Sam Scarfe and was a stand-out performer in our home win against Cardiff. 'Evan is a competitor and drives the on-field energy very well. He's already fit right into our environment and will be a great asset for us.'

Aneurin Owen: I want to add X-factor to push on at Dragons
The Rodney Parade club had a nightmare season in which they won just two games and finished bottom of the United Rugby Championship. However, Owen battled until the very end and his wholehearted exploits, especially when senior teammates were dropping like flies, led to the centre being named as player of the season by the coaches. The 24-year-old from Newport played in 21 of 22 games, only sitting out the Challenge Cup defeat against Pau. He has grown into a leader for the Dragons and is one of the first names on the teamsheet, with his qualities meaning he has racked up 71 outings since his debut in 2020. Owen, who was called up by Wales four years ago, is developing nicely but wants to hit the next level in 2025/26. 'To play all those games was great and it helped me to work on my game,' said Owen. 'I worked really hard with Dan Lydiate on my defence, plus contact work on both sides of the ball. 'Probably the next bit of my game is to have more big moments – I feel I've got to a level of consistency but want to produce those key moments, maybe with a bit of X-factor.' 'Results and where we finished in the table meant it was tough but I genuinely love it every time that I put the jersey on,' said the centre. 'I just hope that what we went through helps us next season because there were an unprecedented amount of injuries and we just had to get on with it. 'Those were the cards that we were dealt and the boys that were fit just had to dig deep. It was great to see how the young players went because they really stepped up in some difficult places against quality teams. 'We definitely need to have a focus on getting our best 23s on the pitch throughout the season because if we do that then I don't doubt we will be in more games, get more wins and finish higher up the league.' It was a tough season but it did provide Owen with the chance to play alongside a pair of Wales legends – blindside Dan Lydiate, who is staying on as a coach, and centre Scott Williams. 'To play with Scott and Lyds after what they have achieved in their careers was incredible,' he said. 'To train with them, be around them and watch them was invaluable. 'I was then buzzing to actually play with Scott and be 12 and 13. He is someone that I grew up watching and he was class. 'Scott is an unbelievable player but even more than that, he is a great guy and added loads to the group.' Owen will be a midfield option next season along with Joe Westwood, Harri Ackerman and Fetuli Paea, with wingers Jared Rosser and Fine Inisi able to slot in at 13 if needed.
