'Only Lean Teams Remaining': Intel Stock (NASDAQ:INTC) Slips as Intel Outsources Marketing

Imagine my surprise to discover that, last year, almost to the day, I made the joke that I was about to make here today. There, I pointed out a Dilbert strip that noted that cutting 'marcom', or marketing / communications, is part of a 'death spiral' for businesses. Chip stock Intel (INTC) decided to let history repeat itself nearly 11 months later by outsourcing its marketing department altogether. Intel shares dropped similarly to what happened the last time they cut marketing, and lost modestly in Friday afternoon's trading. Confident Investing Starts Here: Easily unpack a company's performance with TipRanks' new KPI Data for smart investment decisions Receive undervalued, market resilient stocks right to your inbox with TipRanks' Smart Value Newsletter Back in August 2024, Intel was planning to cut its marketing department as part of a move to cut costs, a move that has only expanded with the arrival of CEO Lip-Bu Tan. And now, the cuts continue, as Intel moves its marketing operations to Accenture (ACN). As it turns out, Intel will be turning to a combination of Accenture and artificial intelligence (AI) to do the job. Worse, Intel believes that Accenture will '…do a better job connecting with customers than Intel's own marketing organization has,' reports suggest, which is absolutely not a phrase you want on your resume. The result? 'The transition of our marketing and operations functions will result in significant changes to team structures, including potential headcount reductions, with only lean teams remaining,' noted a statement from Intel. There is also a possibility that some elements of Intel's marketing will be obliged to train their replacements. Another Price Cut As bad as the news was for Intel's marketing operations, it did get better for Intel's customer base. Reports noted that Intel had once again cut prices on the Core Ultra 7 265KF processor. This is the second such cut in as many months, reports note. The processor is now not only priced at its lowest level ever, but is now 40% cheaper than it was when it first hit shelves. The downside, for those considering a processor buy, is that the F variants—of which this is one—does not include a graphics processing unit (GPU) included. Thus, those using this processor will need a separate graphics card to go with it. Still, with that kind of price cut, a better graphics card could be added to the list for about the same price, and potentially, some savings as well. Is Intel a Buy, Hold or Sell? Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Hold consensus rating on INTC stock based on one Buy, 26 Holds and four Sells assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. After a 30.88% loss in its share price over the past year, the average INTC price target of $21.30 per share implies 0.35% upside potential. Art on the Street returns to downtown Guelph for 23rd year with new mural festival

Nearly a hundred artists lined Quebec Street in downtown Guelph for Art of the Street. July 16, 2016 Downtown Guelph's signature open-air art fair returns this weekend, bringing with it a day full of creativity, community and colour — and a brand-new mural festival. Art on the Street, now in its 23rd year, takes over Quebec Street on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will feature a mix of ceramics, textiles, paintings, photography, jewelry and more — all presented directly by the artists. 'Art on the Street is the heartbeat of summer in downtown Guelph,' said Sam Jewell, event co-organizer, in a media release. 'It's more than just a celebration of visual art — it's a celebration of the people who create it, and the community that supports them.' This year's featured poster artist is Heejung Shin, whose work will appear in promotional materials throughout the city. New for 2025 is the launch of the Guelph Mural Festival, running concurrently from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Five muralists will create large-scale artworks live on-site in the parking lot between RBC and The Bookshelf. Once completed, the murals will be installed throughout downtown Guelph. The day also includes a range of family-friendly activities. The Children's Art Factory will host a Mini Makers Market at Simply Wonderful Toys, where young creators can sell their handmade goods in lemonade-stand-style booths. The Guelph Public Library will run outdoor art activities and offer sign-ups for its Summer Reading Club from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Over in St. George's Square, Play with Clay will lead hands-on pottery activities. The Suzuki String School of Guelph will be on-site with their popular musical 'petting zoo' for kids. Art on the Street is co-presented by the Downtown Guelph Business Association and has grown into Guelph's largest outdoor art exhibition and sale since it began in 2003.

The UK Is Investigating Amazon (AMZN) for Not Paying Its Suppliers on Time

E-commerce giant Amazon (AMZN) is being investigated by the UK's grocery regulator, the Groceries Code Adjudicator (GCA), for not paying its suppliers on time. This would violate Article 5 of the UK's Groceries Supply Code of Practice, which says that retailers must pay suppliers 'within a reasonable time' after receiving their invoice. If Amazon is found to have breached the code, it could face a fine of up to 1% of its annual grocery turnover in the UK. Confident Investing Starts Here: Easily unpack a company's performance with TipRanks' new KPI Data for smart investment decisions Receive undervalued, market resilient stocks right to your inbox with TipRanks' Smart Value Newsletter The GCA said that it had been monitoring Amazon's actions after warning the company last year to fix its practices. After reviewing more evidence, the regulator decided to launch a formal investigation focused specifically on Amazon's compliance with the payment timing rule. The GCA is responsible for making sure large grocery retailers treat their suppliers fairly, and this move suggests Amazon hasn't done enough to address previous concerns. While Amazon's grocery operations are smaller in the UK than in other markets, they are still significant. Estimates suggest that Amazon has between 1.6% and 3% of the UK grocery market, compared to Tesco's 29%. Amazon doesn't break out UK grocery sales in its earnings reports, but the Competition and Markets Authority requires companies with over £1 billion in UK grocery turnover to follow the Groceries Code, which implies that Amazon exceeds that threshold. Following news of the investigation, Amazon's stock opened lower on Friday and continued to trade in the red for a third straight session. What Is the Price Target for AMZN Stock? Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Strong Buy consensus rating on Amazon stock based on 46 Buys and one Hold assigned in the past three months. Furthermore, the average AMZN stock price target of $241.64 implies 15% upside potential from current levels. See more AMZN analyst ratings
