OPEN// Tunisia asserts full support for Egypt's position, keenness to render emergency Arab summit successful
CAIRO, Feb 14 (MENA) - Tunisia's Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Mohamed Ben Ayad asserted his country's full support for Egypt's stance and keenness to render the emergency Arab summit, set for Cairo on February 27, successful.
The minister's remarks made during his meeting with Egyptian Ambassador to Tunisia Bassem Hassan at the premises of the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The two sides reviewed the two countries' firm stances rejecting the ideas related to the displacement of Palestinians from their lands.
They also expressed their outright rejection of any attempts to eliminate the Palestinian cause, stressing the necessity of adopting unified Arab stances during the current stage.
They also stressed the importance of maintaining the ceasefire agreement and accelerating reconstruction efforts.
In this regard, the Egyptian diplomat expressed Egypt's deep appreciation of Tunisia's stance and the strong and explicit statement issued by the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on February 11 to assert solidarity with Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan and the Tunisian and Arab stances towards the Palestinian rights.
He also reviewed the ongoing efforts and contacts to set the stage for the Cairo-hosted emergency Arab summit, considering it a perfect opportunity to demonstrate the Arab countries' unified positions.

Egypt on Monday condemned a terrorist bombing that targeted St. Elias Church in Damascus, an attack which Syrian authorities said killed 22 people and injured 59 others. He emphasised that the security of places of worship is a 'red line' and that all those involved in this act will be held accountable. The Syrian Ministry of Health confirmed the casualty figures from the attack, which occurred in the capital's Duwaila'a district. In a statement broadcast by Syria TV, the ministry noted that the injured had been transported to hospitals to receive necessary medical care and that their conditions were being continuously and directly monitored. Following the explosion, Internal Security Forces established a tight security cordon around the church. The measures included closing all roads leading to the site, as well as shuttering other churches in the nearby neighbourhoods of Bab Touma, Bab Sharqi, al-Qassaa, and Duwaila'a as a precaution against potential future attacks.

Egypt, China agree to boost economic ties, organise investment forum
Egypt and China have agreed to strengthen economic cooperation in key sectors such as electric vehicles, electronics, and artificial intelligence, and will coordinate to organise an investment promotion forum in Egypt, the Egyptian Investment Ministry said in a Monday statement. The agreement came during a meeting in Beijing between Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib and Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao. The two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in several fields, including electric cars, feeder industries, electronics, water desalination, solar panels, and artificial intelligence. They also agreed to collaborate on strengthening supply chains. Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao praised the bilateral trade volume, which has reached $17bn, affirming that China remains Egypt's largest trading partner. He highlighted successful investment cooperation in the TEDA-Suez zone, which has attracted significant Chinese investment, alongside major projects implemented by Chinese firms, including the Iconic Tower and Central Business District in the New Administrative Capital, the electric train, and renewable energy projects. Wang also stressed his keenness to enhance cooperation in e-commerce, infrastructure, and renewable energy. For his part, Minister El-Khatib emphasised the importance of maximising the strategic partnership through joint investments, particularly amid global economic fluctuations. He promoted Egypt's competitive advantages, including its strategic location and numerous trade agreements, which position it as an ideal hub for production and export for Chinese companies seeking access to regional and global markets. El-Khatib said he looked forward to an expected visit by the Chinese Premier to Egypt next month, which he said would be an opportunity to translate agreements into tangible projects. He also noted Egypt's commitment to improving its investment climate and adhering to World Trade Organization rules. During the meeting, El-Khatib reviewed the outcomes of the ninth session of the Egypt-China joint committee held last December and proposed that the tenth session be held in Egypt this year. He stressed the importance of increasing the trade volume to reflect the depth of the two countries' economic ties.
