Music festival halted after band member 'collapses on stage' in front of horrified crowd

Daily Mail5 hours ago

A music festival had to be halted tonight after a band member collapsed on stage in front of horrified fans.
British band The Christians were performing on the last night of On The Waterfront Festival in Liverpool when one of the members appeared to collapse.
Medics quickly rushed onto the stage at Liverpool Pier Head after lead singer Garry Christian shouted for help.
A privacy screen was put up on stage with a message on a large LED screen reading: 'We appreciate your patience and understanding. Medical staff are with the performer, and we will provide an update as soon as we can.'
The band's manager, Emma Bridget, gave an update over the speakers where she said it is believed he had suffered a cardiac arrest.
'We're really hoping he is going to make it. He didn't have a pulse, he's got one now, we think. Thank you so much,' the Liverpool Echo reported her as saying.
'I'm just so sorry because Garry loves Liverpool and he wanted to put on the show of his life and we're really devastated but thank you so much.'
The Christians were performing ahead of Grammy-winning Sting's Sunday night headline set which closes out the four-day event.
The former Police frontman was given the band's blessing to perform where he addressed the crowd to reveal The Christians' member was recovering in hospital.
'All of us are praying he's going to be fine. Our thoughts are with him,' the Englishman in New York hitmaker said, according to The Mirror.
The Christians had hours earlier posted on its Facebook page as the band was carrying out a 'soundcheck in a grey rainy On The Waterfront Liverpool'.
'But we won't let it dampen our excitement see you [sic],' they wrote.
The Christians was formed in the 1980s by Garry Christian and his brothers Roger and Russell. Roger died of a brain tumour in 1998, with Russell leaving the band in 2005.
Their self-titled debut album reached number two in the UK charts with their biggest hits
On The Waterfront Festival was founded in 2021 and last year saw 45,000 people attend.
The Wombats, and The Wolfe Toones were among the headliners to perform this year.

Lana del Rey celebrates birthday with alligator tour guide hubby… as she teams up with surprise singer for tour

Singer Lana del Rey celebrated her 40th birthday over the weekend, with her husband Jeremy Dufrene and a few in-laws. The Summertime Sadness singer shared new snaps on her Instagram on Saturday, one of which showed her holding a pair of white cakes, surrounded by Dufrene and several in-laws, weeks after her subtle tribute to Dufrene at the 2025 Met Gala. She was wearing a strapless camo top and matching shorts with white knee-high socks and shoes in the first snap. Her husband Dufrene was behind her, donning a Ford trucker's cap, a matching camo shirt, green shorts and white sneakers. She was surrounded by a number of unnamed in-laws in the post, one of whom she seemingly shares a birthday with. The singer also took to Instagram over the weekend to reveal some of the opening acts on her upcoming tour, including actress/singer Addison Rae. 'Just a couple in-laws and a baby. Thank you for sharing your birthday with me cancer queen Phoenix,' she began. 'I'm still convinced I gotta be 50/50 Gemini tho, that would explain all three Lil vibes I got going on all the time,' she added. 'So excited to see everybody starting tomorrow on tour and for all the folks joining us. Truly thank you thank you love you,' she concluded. Del Ray also shared another snap of her in the passenger seat of a vehicle, with a gold bracelet visible on her left wrist., which didn't include a caption. She also took to Instagram to announce three opening acts for her UK and Ireland Tour. Del Rey will be joined by the group London Grammar for her June 23 show at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, UK. She will be joined by Banks during a trio of shows in Glasgow at Hamden Park on June 26, Liverpool at Anfield Stadium on June 28 and Dublin, Ireland at Aviva Stadium on June 30. For her final two shows, she'll be joined by Addison Rae on July 3 and 4 for a pair of shows at London's iconic Wembley Stadium. Lana and Jeremy exchanged vows by the water in Des Allemandes, Louisiana, last year at the same bayou where he operates his popular swamp tours. Lana first shared a photo with Jeremy after taking one of his tours from Arthur's Airboat Tours in Des Allemands, Louisiana back in 2019. After their initial meeting, they reconnected earlier in 2024 before tying the knot in late September last year in what sources described as a 'whirlwind' romance. 'It's been kind of a whirlwind romance, but Lana's close friends hoped she would get married,' the source said. 'Jeremy is different from the men that Lana meets in the entertainment world. He's a great guy,' the source added. 'He's charming and charismatic in a Southern way, very much a gentleman and he treats Lana really well. She's an old soul,' the source continued.

Shaughna Phillips showcased her bump on Love Island AfterSun on Sunday, hours after announcing she is pregnant. The former islander, 31, who is also a mother to Lucia, two, looked radiant as she appeared as a special guest on the ITV 2 spin off show. To discuss her her happy news, the blonde beauty wore an elegant white wrap dress. Appearing alongside Demi Jones, Shaughna was congratulated by host Maya Jama after she revealed she is expecting her second child. Walking over to the two guests, Maya said: 'Hello, congratulations are in order, Shaughna!' The host continued: 'I mean amazing. Baby number two?' which the blonde beauty replied. 'two, here you go and busy!'. Taking to Instagram earlier on Sunday, Shaughna revealed she was expecting as she posted a video of herself taking a pregnancy test and showed off her growing bump. She also shared a sweet video of her daughter Lucia wearing a t-shirt saying 'Big Sis' and 'In my big sister era' to go with the announcement. Shaughna did not reveal who the father of her baby is as she wrote: 'Adding a little more love to our family…' Following the birth of her daughter Lucia in April 2023, Shaughna's boyfriend of four years, Billy Webb, 29, was sentenced to nine years in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply 4.5kg of cocaine worth at least £360,000. However Shaughna revealed in November that the father of her little girl had been released after serving only 12 months of his sentence and the family reunited to enjoy a Christmas grotto together. The blonde bombshell has been very open with her fans throughout the ordeal and previously revealed on her podcast Oh, Baby with Shaughna and Holly that she had struggled to come to terms with the situation. She said: 'It's the most gut-wrenching position to be in. Taking to Instagram on Sunday , Shaughna revealed she was expecting as she posted a video of herself taking a pregnancy test and showed off her growing bump 'And, I mean, before I even answer this question, I want to just put it out there that you can judge me all you want, but please don't let me know, because I feel like unless you've been in this position you can't really have an opinion on it. 'Because before I was in this position, before I had a baby, if you had asked me would I ever, ever take my child into a prison, the answer would be absolutely not. Anyone that does that is crazy. 'And then, lo and behold, I'm now in this position. And I think the thing is, we're always going to be co-parents. 'And I know that me and my dad had the best relationship ever, and to me, my dad is the best person in the world. 'And I don't want Lucia to think differently of her father. I would never, ever stop him from seeing her, ever.' Sharing an adorable video to her Instagram announcing he had been released, the reality star revealed that she and her partner had taken Lucia to see Santa and added she never thought this day would come. She captioned the clip: 'If you had told me this time last year, that me and Billy would be taking Lucia to see Santa next Christmas, I probably wouldn't have let myself believe you 'The best couple of days, this Christmas is going to be so special'. The star also revealed to MailOnline that she had struggled raising her daughter as a single mother. She said: 'Having a newborn baby, hormones are all over the place and I was just struggling' 'Anyone who's had kids they'll probably say that when they're a newborn it's easiest because they just lie there and need to be fed but as they get older and they can talk back and say no... It's exhausting.'

'I had the perfect life – I'd been with Tom since the age of 19 and had everything sorted. Then my world got flipped upside down and I think that teaches you how precious life is.' Kelsey announced the tragic loss of her third child, her first with boyfriend Will with a heartfelt poem, which she captioned: 'Phoenix Parker-Lindsay, you will forever be loved'. The poem read: 'The world grew quiet as you arrived, So loved, so longed for, yet not alive. Our precious boy, our angel light, Born with wings, took silent flight'. 'We named you Phoenix, brave and bright. A soul of love, of warmth and light Though we never heard you cry, You'll live in hearts that won't ask why. No breath you drew, no eyes to see, Still, you mean everything to me. You'll journey with us, softly near, In every sigh, in every tear.' Later taking to her Instagram Stories she wrote: 'Before I receive an influx of lovely messages and heartfelt wishes, I wanted to just say that I truly appreciate everything you are all going to say and share'. 'But with the news being so raw, I would really like to ensure that we as a family are given space and time to process this devastating and earth-shattering news'. Before adding: 'I love you all and thank you for your understanding and space. Love always, Kelsey, Will, and the Parker Family'. Later taking to her Stories she wrote: 'Before I receive an influx of lovely messages and heartfelt wishes, I wanted to just say that I truly appreciate everything you are all going to say and share' Fans and famous friends rushed to the comments to offer their condolences to Kelsey and Will The tragic news comes just days after Kelsey showed off her baby bump as she joined her eldest children at a screening of Disney Pixar's Elio in London. The TV personality also shared her appreciation for her boyfriend, Will, earlier this month, after previously revealing her third pregnancy was a 'happy accident'. Taking to Instagram she gushed she was 'full of gratitude' for her partner and thanked him for his help with her young children. Appreciation post. I know you're not a fan of being on my social media, but I can't help it—this moment deserves to be shared. 'We're just a month away from meeting our baby, and I'm so full of gratitude. Thank you for everything you do—for me and for the kids. 'We love and adore you more than words can say I can't wait to start this next chapter with you. 'Honestly, I think you're going to find the newborn stage a breeze after handling a 5 and 4-year-old!'. Kelsey was left devastated after husband Tom lost his battle with brain cancer, but found love again last year, meeting Kent tree surgeon Will on a night out and announced their romance in September. Kelsey revealed she has been getting a lot of hate online but her new partner has been very supportive and told her to 'block out the haters'. Speaking on ITV's Lorraine, in their first joint interview together in March, she explained: 'It's been three years, this is Tom's three year anniversary of his death and it's almost like people want me to feel guilty for moving on.' During the interview Kelsey asked Will: 'Does it stress you out that I get upset about trolls and people commenting on our relationship?' Will replied: 'Not really, I just tell you not to look at them don't I. There's bound to be some people sending nice messages but block out the haters.' Kelsey revealed she has been getting a lot of hate online but her new partner has been very supportive and told her to 'block out the haters' (Pictured with Tom and their kids 2020) She added: 'I'm always going to have guilt but what's so hard is that Tom's not here anymore so what do people want me to do?', 'Our house was full of so much sadness but now it's full of happiness, the kids deserve that more than anything. 'They've been through so much, I feel like we are taking the steps forward to heal but I just want other women to feel like it's OK to move on, it's not taking anything away from the love I had for Tom.' Kelsey also opened up about the impact meeting Will has had on her life and how trolls don't 'understand how she feels' because they are not in her shoes. She said how her new partner lives with her at the home she shared with Tom and the kids, remarking how he 'gradually moved in' when the time 'felt right'. Kelsey also revealed she has been bombarded with online abuse after confirming her pregnancy. She told The Sun: 'I think people think I should be sitting at home and dressed in black all day. I have two children (and another one on the way) that I have to get out of bed for. People are shocked I go to Tesco but I need to feed my kids.'
