‘Showed Pakistan its ‘1,000 cuts' policy will not succeed': In J-K, Rajnath Singh says Operation Sindoor was a warning

Describing Operation Sindoor as a 'natural progression' of the 2016 surgical strike and the 2019 air strike, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday warned Pakistan that any terror attack on Indian soil will have 'very serious consequences' for it. Addressing troops at the Northern Command Headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur on the occasion of International Yoga Day, Singh said, 'We have shown Pakistan through Operation Sindoor that its 'thousand cuts' policy against India is not going to succeed. India is fully prepared for any type of action against terrorism.' The terror attack in Pahalgam was not just an incident of terrorism, but the social and communal unity was also targeted from across the border, he pointed out. 'We not only foiled their plans, but also retaliated, bringing Pakistan to its knees, and only thereafter was Operation Sindoor suspended by us,' he said. Singh emphasised that Operation Sindoor 'was not only a retaliation' to the Pahalgam terror attack. 'We conveyed to Pakistan through it that continuing terrorist attacks against India will not be tolerated…that its result is going to be from bad to worse,' Singh added. Following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, India had carried out Operation Sindoor on the intervening night of May 6 and 7, destroying terror infrastructure at various places in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Recalling the contributions made by Army officers Major Somnath Sharma and Brigadier Mohammad Usman, Rajnath Singh said, 'Pakistan wants to weaken India from inside, but should not forget that while Major Somnath Sharma gave his life for the unity and integrity of India, bravehearts like Brigadier Usman too have sacrificed their lives for the country.' Flanked by Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Singh said that Yoga means 'uniting' and one should take it in its real sense. 'Yoga means uniting all sections of society with the culture and soul of India,' he said, adding that leaving any section would mean breaking the unity and security of India. Singh urged people to perform yoga and strive for unity in thought and society as well.

'I won't get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the war between India and Pakistan': Trump does it again

US President Donald Trump on Sunday repeated his claim that he helped stop a war between India and Pakistan but said he will never receive a Nobel Peace Prize for it. In a post on Truth Social, Trump listed a series of diplomatic efforts he claims credit for, while criticising the Nobel committee for ignoring them. 'I won't get a Nobel Peace Prize for this, I won't get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the war between India and Pakistan,' Trump wrote, referencing recent tensions between the two countries following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Skal I på bilferie til sommer? Scandlines Læs mere Undo India had carried out targeted strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in the early hours of May 7. In response, Pakistan launched attempted strikes on Indian military positions on May 8, 9, and 10. The exchange ended on May 10 following a understanding reached after direct military-level talks between the two sides. Live Events Despite India's official stance and PM Modi's confrontation with him that the ceasefire was the outcome of Director General of Military Operations (DGMO)-level dialogue, Trump claimed the de-escalation followed American diplomatic engagement. He has repeated the claim several times, stating the U.S. urged both sides to end hostilities and promised enhanced trade ties in return. The US President claimed that he will never be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize, even as he he arranged a peace treaty between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Rwanda like he did for othere nations. I won't get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the War between Serbia and Kosovo, I won't get a Nobel Peace Prize for keeping Peace between Egypt and Ethiopia (A massive Ethiopian built dam, stupidly financed by the United States of America, substantially reduces the water flowing into The Nile River)," Trump said. Trump also referenced his previous diplomatic push in the Middle East. 'I won't get a Nobel Peace Prize for doing the Abraham Accords in the Middle East which, if all goes well, will be loaded to the brim with additional Countries signing on, and will unify the Middle East for the first time in 'The Ages!'' he said. 'No, I won't get a Nobel Peace Prize no matter what I do, including Russia/Ukraine, and Israel/Iran, whatever those outcomes may be, but the people know, and that's all that matters to me!' Trump concluded. Meanwhile, the Pakistan government issued a statement announcing that it would formally recommend Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. A statement said, 'President Trump demonstrated great strategic foresight and stellar statesmanship… ultimately securing a ceasefire and averting a broader conflict.' It also praised Trump's past 'offers' on the Kashmir issue and called his role 'pivotal.' Earlier this week, President Trump hosted Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir at the White House. Speaking afterward, he said, 'Reason I had him here, I want to thank him for not going into the war... ending the war.' Trump added that trade talks were underway with both India and Pakistan.

Rajnath Singh warns of disastrous consequences if Pakistan backs more terror attacks

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday issued a strong warning to Pakistan, saying any future terrorist attack on Indian soil would have 'disastrous' consequences. He declared that Operation Sindoor , under which India struck terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, is not over and that India is ready to take any necessary action against terrorism. Speaking to troops of the Northern Command in Udhampur after joining them for International Yoga Day , Singh said Operation Sindoor had sent a clear message to Pakistan that its strategy of inflicting 'a thousand cuts' on India would not succeed. 'Operation Sindoor is not over yet... through this operation, we have told Pakistan that continuing terrorism against India will not be tolerated and the response will get from bad to worse,' Singh said. He was accompanied by Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi. 'Operation Sindoor was a natural progression of 2016 surgical strike and 2019 air strike (across the border). We conveyed to Pakistan that its policy of thousand cuts against India will not terror attack on the soil of India will prove disastrous for Pakistan. India is ready to take any type of action against terrorism,' Rajnath Singh said. SCO visit likely, tensions ahead of Qingdao summit Meanwhile, Singh is likely to visit China next week to attend a conclave of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), ET had reported on June 17. If confirmed, it will mark the first visit to China by a senior Indian minister since ties between the two countries sharply deteriorated due to the border standoff along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh, which began in May 2020. The SCO defence ministers' meeting is scheduled to take place in Qingdao from June 25 to 27. The meeting comes at a time when the Pahalgam terror attack has become a contentious issue within the SCO, which is currently under the Chinese presidency. India has asked that a mention of the April 22 attack be included in one of the SCO outcome documents, according to an ET report. In response, Pakistan has demanded that the same document also refer to the Jaffar Express hijacking and an attack on a bus by Baloch rebels. Separately, last Saturday, India had distanced itself from the SCO's statement on the Iran-Israel conflict. The government said it had already articulated its position on the matter and did not support the joint statement.
