Branded Jacket, Stylish Glasses: Bageshwar Baba Faces Heat Over Luxury Pics In Australia
Last Updated: Bageshwar Dham Baba is being heavily trolled online after photos surfaced of him wearing stylish sunglasses and a pricey-looking jacket aboard a plane and even enjoying a cruise Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, popularly known as Bageshwar Dham Baba, has once again found himself at the centre of a social media storm. This time, not for his spiritual discourses, but for his wardrobe, and his timing. While currently touring Australia for a religious Katha (religious sermon), the young seer from Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur is being heavily trolled online after photos surfaced of him wearing stylish sunglasses and a pricey-looking jacket aboard a plane and even enjoying a cruise. Netizens were quick to point out the apparent disconnect; these images went viral just days after the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad that claimed over 274 lives. Social media platforms were flooded with comments accusing the self-styled spiritual leader of insensitivity and flaunting a lifestyle far removed from his humble beginnings. Critics questioned how a man who once sat on a plastic chair drawing slips in a small tent now sports designer wear while globe-trotting. Some went further, insinuating a shift from saint to celebrity. Faced with mounting criticism, Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri broke his silence with a sharp rebuttal during an event in Fiji. In a veiled warning to his detractors, he said, 'The person who posted that video should listen carefully; if you have a problem with my jacket and glasses, let me tell you, they weren't bought, they were gifted by devotees." He went on to justify accepting such offerings, stating that the Dakshina he receives during Katha programs is not for personal luxury but is spent on social welfare. 'We are building a cancer hospital, and we support poor girls with this money," he said, urging people not to spread 'worthless negativity". This is not the first time Bageshwar Baba has drawn attention for reasons beyond religion. His rise to fame, marked by large gatherings, miracle claims, and political endorsements, has been equally praised and questioned. First Published: June 17, 2025, 13:21 IST

Prosenjit Chatterjee Wants TV Shows To Go Pan-India: 'Why Should It Be Limited To Films?'
Last Updated: Kabhi Neem Neem Kabhi Shahad Shahad promises to bring a refreshing blend of emotions, drama, and family ties. After becoming the superstar of the Bengali film industry, Prosenjit Chatterjee is now all set to step into the Hindi television world. It was recently announced that he is producing a new show titled Kabhi Neem Neem Kabhi Shahad Shahad, a unique family drama that captures the bittersweet essence of relationships. Recently, Prosenjit Chatterjee opened up about producing a Hindi television show when he shared, 'This is, in many ways, my first Hindi production and it feels truly special. My father has been part of the Hindi film industry since the 1960s, starting from Sabar Uparey, so my connection with Hindi cinema isn't new. Today, when the world is talking about 'pan-India', I wonder — why should it be limited to films or OTT platforms? Television, too, has the power to go pan-India". 'There is incredible talent across the country from Marathi, Bengali, Punjabi, and Gujarati industries. Why shouldn't all that talent be celebrated on television as well? That's the thought that led us here. I'm grateful to Star Plus for supporting this vision. And of course, working with Rakhi Di, one of the finest storytellers, we have brought the perfect concept to life for us to step into Hindi and create meaningful, impactful work," the actor added. Kabhi Neem Neem Kabhi Shahad Shahad promises to bring a refreshing blend of emotions, drama, and family ties, reflecting the perfect balance of sweet and bitter, just like its title suggests. It stars Abrar Qazi in the lead. Previously, Abrar also opened up about the show when he said, 'The focus is really on sweet, genuine interactions—those little moments that can feel real and honest. We've made a conscious effort to stay away from the typical cliches. So, even though it's a romantic love story at the heart, it feels refreshing and authentic. It's joyful, it's full of connection, and hopefully, it leaves people smiling." Kabhi Neem Neem Kabhi Shahad Shahad will premiere on Star Plus on June 11, 2025. First Published:

Chennai Book Park sees a steady stream of crowd on Day 1
Status: cleared Chennai: Those entering the Central Metro station now have one-stop access to books from prominent publishers, spanning from Higginbothams to Katha, at the Chennai Book Park, opened by Chief Minister M K Stalin on Tuesday. An initiative of the School Education Department to kindle a reading habit among the public, the book park saw a steady stream of visitors on the first day. Nestled between a pharmacy and an eatery, en route to the ticket counter, one would rarely miss the park. Decked up with flowers and carpets, over 4,300 titles from over 13 publishers were on display. Among these, 84 titles were released on Tuesday. Most of the stalls belonged to the Tamil Nadu Text Book and Educational Services Corporation (TNTESC), which manages the functioning of the park. Nakkheeran, Shanti, and Coral were among the prominent publishers who set up stalls. Schoolbooks, guides, and books for competitive exams, mostly Tamil, were available. The cost of books ranged from ₹50 to ₹3,500. The CMRL is yet to fix signage for the park at entries and exits. TNTESC superintendent G Balaji said the park will be open from 9 am to 9 pm. "The schedule on weekend timings will be finalised in a couple of days. At least three staff, including security personnel, will man the premises," he said. Chezhian Kumarasamy, Executive Director of an advertising firm, said it was good to see people at a book park in a digital age where mobile phones call the shots. "I wish more such parks would be opened in places such as airports and MRTS stations," he said. Some, like law student L Lakshmi, who walked in thinking there would be a lot of autobiographies and non-fiction Tamil books, said she was surprised to find English books on self-help. Publication managers, however, aren't too optimistic about sales. "I don't know how many people will walk in. They are in a hurry to board trains," said Sivakumar, manager of one of the publications. By 8:50 pm, the facility registered a sale of about ₹35,000. The stalls have tied up with the TNTESC on a revenue-sharing model, said Katha Books CEO Ravin Carr. "Between 25% and 40% of the sale cost (depending on the size of the stalls) will be shared with the govt," he said. At the event, the Chief Minister also inaugurated 110 library buildings built across all districts at a cost of ₹29.80 crore and 70 special libraries at bus stands, hospitals, and district collectorates.
