Noise Buds F1 review: Priced at Rs 1,099, these budget-friendly earphones are light and long-lasting

India Today11-06-2025

India's budget smart audio market is booming. While previously, you would have to spend a good amount of money to get a decent pair of wireless earphones, now you can get them for as low as Rs 1,000. Case in point: the new Noise Buds F1, a pair of affordable earphones with compact design and powerful 11mm drivers – all for Rs 1,099. advertisementThere is a lot to like about Noise's entry-level showing which, given its low pricing, would seem unbelievable to some. But these earphones are indeed real. So, the question is, as good as they appear on paper, do the Noise Buds F1 also deliver in the real world? We will try and find the answer to this question in this India Today Tech review.
Noise F1 Buds: Beautiful and light-weight designBefore we step into the audio performance, it is worth mentioning that the Noise F1 Buds have an eye-catching design. The buds and case combo is light and compact and so, the buds remain mostly comfortable in the ears even on extended use while the charging case they come in slips easily in your pocket. Noise also offers a good selection of colours that should attract many people, particularly the youth. We have the mint green variant, it looks cool and fresh (no pun intended).

The case has other conveniences apart from pocketability. It has a USB Type-C port and an LED pairing indicator, the latter isn't very common even among some of the pricier options so it's nice that Noise thought of that. This LED serves several purposes, indicating low battery, pairing status, charging and more. The lid of the case is quite sturdy for the price and stays put in day-to-day use without much trouble. The buds remain securely in place unless you drop them hard. Having said that, it is prone to smudging easily. Inside, you have the buds and a reset button. The earbuds are also lightweight, so much so that I often forgot I was even wearing them. They come with three sizes of ear tips: small, medium, and large, with the medium tips fitted by default. I found the Noise F1 Buds to be exceptionally comfortable. I was able to wear them for hours without any significant discomfort.
The buds also sport touch sensors on the stem area. They work as follows:Single tap on right to increase the volume and same on left to decreaseDouble tap to play and pause the song or videoTriple tap to change the songLong press to switch on the gaming mode (we will come to this in a while)Noise F1 Buds: Decent acoustics, but no ANCadvertisementThe sound quality of the Noise F1 Buds is decent, especially considering their budget-friendly price of Rs 1,099. Equipped with 11mm drivers, the earbuds manage to capture most of the beats and rhythm, but the bass performance leaves you asking for more. Tracks ranging from Imagine Dragons' 'Believer' to Ali Zafar's 'Vo Dekhnay Mein' tend to sound a bit flat, lacking the depth and richness that strong bass usually brings. Hence, if you are looking for a decent TWS and do not care much about immaculate sound – which is what you won't find at this price anyway - the Noise F1 Buds are worth a look. The lack of active noise cancellation is a missed opportunity, but again, it is understandable at this price.Moving on, the Noise F1 Buds feature a quad-mic system with ENC. Phone calls made through them are good, not great.advertisementBattery life and connectivityNow, the best part about the Noise F1 Buds is their battery life. The company claims that the TWS can run 50 hours on a single charge. At first it seems to be a little far-fetched, but after using the buds I can say that it is close. I used the buds for a week, and I have only charged it once. Specifically, I use the earbuds for at least 6 hours every day, and even longer, say 7 hours, on the weekends.
These earbuds are fast and easy to connect to any device. Noise says it uses proprietary technology called HyperSync to pull this off. I tried connecting them to an iPhone and a laptop, and switching was quick and seamless.Noise F1 Buds: Should you buy?Priced at Rs 1,099, the Noise F1 Buds offer decent sound quality, impressive battery life, and a comfortable fit. While the audio may feel somewhat flat and the absence of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is sorely missed, compared to other TWS options, they still manage to stand out as a fine choice for everyday use.

KSRTC's Davanagere division records uptick in digital payments

Davanagere: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation ( KSRTC ) achieved notable success in digital payments, collecting Rs 10 crore in eight months through its Davanagere division. This achievement follows KSRTC's intensified promotion of UPI payments since Nov 2024. The organisation aims to collect Rs 1 crore daily through digital means, targeting 50% of all transactions. Passengers embraced the QR code payment system for bus fares, despite initial technical difficulties. The digital payment implementation resolved issues related to small change, enhancing the travel experience and reducing conflicts between passengers and conductors. The Davanagere division also introduced UPI payments via smart electronic ticket machines (ETMs) in Nov. Travellers now complete transactions using applications like PhonePe and Google Pay. Digital payments are more prevalent on long-distance routes with reliable network coverage. Inter-district and interstate services show higher digital transaction rates when compared to urban and rural routes. From Nov 2024 to June 15, 2025, the division collected Rs 11 crore via UPI across its three depots: Davanagere Depot-1, Davanagere Depot-2, and Harihar Depot. Monthly collections increased steadily: November (Rs 29.2 lakh), December 2024 (Rs 1 crore), January 2025 (Rs 1.3 crore), February (Rs 1.5 crore), March (Rs 1.6 crore), April (Rs 1.8 crore), May (Rs 1.9 crore), and June (Rs 1.9 crore). The division manages 404 buses with 490 ETMs, including backup units. Occasional technical issues led to payment deductions without ticket issuance, causing disputes. The refund system improved, with reimbursements now processed within 48 hours, reduced from one week previously. Passengers are showing a preference for digital payments, and if a ticket is not printed, the amount is credited to their account within 24 hours. We solved some technical issues, and we are expecting more digital payments in our division, said Kiran Kumar Basapur, KSRTC divisional controller, Davanagere.

Bad news for employees of this company as it plans to sack over 1000 employees, not Narayana Murthy's Infosys, TCS, Google, IBM

(Representational image: freepik) New Delhi: American multinational corporation and IT giant Microsoft Corporation will cut more than 1000 jobs as the conglomerate is rearranging its staff to support its ambitious Artificial Intelligence initiatives. This will be Microsoft's third significant layoff wave of 2025. Most of the jobs that will be eliminated in early July will be from the sales department. Microsoft's new fiscal year This particular time of early July coincides with the beginning of the company's new fiscal year, according to Bloomberg and the Times of India. As mentioned above, Microsoft is reshuffling its staff to support its ambitious Artificial Intelligence initiatives for which it is doubling down on efficiency and strategic realignment as AI investments mount up. Sales Division in third round of layoffs This third round of layoffs is considerably more focused on customer-facing positions than the earlier two rounds, which were mainly focused on engineers and developers. The most affected would be the employees in Sales and Marketing department which accounts for about 45,000 of Microsoft's 228,000 workers. In the first two rounds of layoffs, Microsoft fired around 2,300 employees in Washington this year. Earlier in 2023, the company had fired 3,200 people, which was the biggest layoffs round. Reportedly, Microsoft had dropped a hint about this move in June 2024 as it relieved 1,000 mixed-reality and Azure roles. Apart from that, the company started selling software to outside companies in April as it concentrated on small and mid-sized business sectors. Experts say that apart from the sales positions, other departments might also be impacted. In May, the company had laid off more than 6,000 people in a 3% cut of its workforce. Out of which 1,985 employees affected were from Washington. Investments in realm of Artificial Intelligence In the proverbial 'keeping up with the times' and adapting to current trends, Microsoft is now emphasising more on AI as it tries to stay ahead in a fast-changing technology landscape. The tech giant is investing heavily into data centres and AI research to support growing demand from businesses that are adopting AI tools and services. The Bloomberg report further said that Microsoft has planned capital expenditure of around Rs 6.6 lakh crore ($80 billion) for the ongoing financial year. A big chunk of this expenditure will go into expanding data centre infrastructure as the aim is to reduce pressure on existing facilities that support AI services. Layoffs in the tech sector are continuously troubling IT professionals. Recently, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has warned that the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the corporate workforce will eventually lead to job cuts. After the COVID-19 pandemic, big tech companies like Amazon, Meta and Google laid off thousands of workers to reduce their staff. Now, another tech giant, Microsoft, has given a live, sombre, and somewhat gloomy presentation.
