CAIRO – 20 March 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi visited and toured Sayyida Nafisa Mosque in Cairo early Thursday to inaugurate the renovation works.
He emphasized Egypt's commitment to continuing the development of sites associated with Ahl Al-Bayt (the family of Prophet Muhammad), including various mosques.
Accompanying the president during the visit were Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly, Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El-Tayyeb, and Minister of Religious Endowments Usama Al-Azhari.
Also present were Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber, Undersecretary of Al-Azhar Mohamed Al-Duwaini, Grand Mufti Nazir Ayad, and Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Ahmed El-Azazi.
Azazi provided an overview of the development work carried out by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority as part of efforts to renovate the Ahl Al-Bayt mosques, in line with the state's plan to develop historic Cairo.
The president underscored the Egyptians' deep connection to the Prophet's family, highlighting the public's awareness of their significance and recognition of their virtues.
President Sisi prayed for the continued safety, stability, and prosperity of the Egyptian people during Ramadan and for the protection of the Arab and Islamic nations.
He performed the Fajr prayer at the mosque and concluded his visit by paying respects at the mausoleum of Sayyida Nafisa.
Sayyida Nafisa was a female descendant of Prophet Muhammad, tracing her lineage to Al-Hassan ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib, the prophet's grandson. Born in 762 A.D., she is well-known in Egypt as a hadith scholar.
The inauguration of renovation works at Sayyida Nafisa Mosque comes less than a year after the president opened the landmark Sayyida Zaynab Mosque in Cairo following its renovation.

Kuwait Activates Emergency Shelters for Government Staff

Israa Farhan Kuwait's Ministry of Finance has activated its national emergency plan following US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, opening fully equipped shelters for government employees as a precautionary measure. According to Kuwaiti daily Al-Jarida, the ministry has implemented a series of comprehensive protective measures to ensure the continuity of financial and public services in the event of regional escalation. Among the key actions taken is the readiness of civil defense shelters within the Government Complex building, with the capacity to accommodate up to 900 personnel. The shelters are rated C4 and are reportedly in excellent operational condition. In addition, contingency storage areas have been designated for emergency use, and financial systems have been migrated to backup platforms to ensure uninterrupted operations. The ministry has also enabled secure remote working capabilities through specialized cybersecurity programs to safeguard digital infrastructure. The emergency preparations were triggered in the wake of US President Donald Trump's announcement on Sunday that American forces had conducted airstrikes that destroyed three nuclear facilities in Iran. The president warned that further military action could follow unless Tehran seeks a peaceful resolution to ongoing tensions. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean News 3 Killed in Shooting Attack in Thailand

Egypt FM tackles catastrophic conditions in Gaza, Israel-Iran military conflict with OIC ministers - Foreign Affairs

Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a series of high-level bilateral meetings on Sunday in Istanbul on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers summit. Talks focused on urgent regional challenges, including the intensifying Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, the protracted Yemeni crisis, Red Sea security, and the escalating military confrontation between Israel and Iran, according to statements from Egypt's foreign ministry. In a meeting with his Yemeni counterpart, Shaye Al-Zindani, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's support for Yemen's internationally recognized government and emphasized the urgent need to resume intra-Yemeni dialogue to achieve a comprehensive political settlement. He said such a resolution must be acceptable to all Yemeni factions, preserve national unity and legitimate institutions, and end the ongoing humanitarian crisis. He also underlined the connection between Yemen's stability and broader regional security. The ministers also discussed maritime security in the Red Sea—a key strategic concern for Egypt, given its direct bearing on national security. Abdelatty briefed Al-Zindani on Egypt's ongoing efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza amid worsening humanitarian conditions. The rising military escalation between Israel and Iran was also addressed, with Abdelatty warning against a slide into regional chaos and calling for de-escalation through diplomatic channels. Later in the day, Abdelatty held talks with Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Muhammad Ishaq Dar. Both officials voiced alarm over the growing Israel-Iran conflict, warning that continued escalation would deepen regional instability. Abdelatty reiterated the urgent need to halt military operations and pursue political and diplomatic avenues to prevent further violence. Earlier Sunday, the Egyptian minister met separately with his Algerian and Bangladeshi counterparts, Ahmed Attaf and Tawhid Hussein. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's commitment to securing a Gaza ceasefire, describing it as critical to de-escalation and restoring humanitarian aid access to the besieged territory. The meetings also examined the broader implications of the Israel-Iran standoff for regional security. Abdelatty stressed that political and diplomatic solutions remain the only viable path to avoid a broader conflagration in the Middle East. Follow us on: Facebook Instagram Whatsapp Short link:

President El-Sisi reviews outcomes of 1st tax facilities initiative - Economy

President El-Sisi made this outcome review during a meeting on Sunday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk. "According to Law No. 6 of 2025, the number of taxpayers who have applied to benefit from the tax incentives and facilitations for projects whose annual turnover does not exceed EGP 20 million has reached 52,901," Kouchouk said, according to a presidential statement. In September 2024, the government introduced the new tax facilitation package to support small businesses, startups, and freelancers and foster a more accessible and investor-friendly environment. The tax facilitation plan was then incorporated into Laws Nos. 5, 6, and 7, which were passed in February 2025. This integrated tax system was specifically designed for businesses with annual revenues not exceeding EGP 15 million, benefiting small and micro enterprises, entrepreneurs, freelancers, and professionals. The new framework has simplified the tax filing process, allowing businesses to submit or amend tax returns for 2021-2023 without incurring penalties. The Sunday meeting also discussed the latest developments regarding the Ministry of Finance's plan for international issuances for the fiscal year 2024/2025, aligning with efforts to reduce external debt for budgetary bodies. Preliminary indicators point to the government and the Ministry of Finance's success in reducing the external debt balance for budgetary bodies by $1 to $2 billion annually. Moreover, the meeting discussed the increasing volatility in international markets and the impact of geopolitical challenges, especially the war between Iran and Israel, on rising uncertainty in key global markets, particularly shipping and commodity prices. The meeting also discussed Egypt's financial performance from July 2024 to May 2025, highlighting the achievement of a large and strong primary surplus, the reduction of the overall deficit ratio, and strong and accelerated growth rates in tax revenues, reaching 36 percent due to improved economic activity. They also reviewed the primary targets for FY2024/2025, especially the debt ratio of general budgetary bodies to GDP (domestic and external), the development of tax revenues, the growth rate, the status of wages and employee compensations, and the status of goods and services purchases and interest payments. The Minister of Finance also highlighted efforts and developments related to monitoring the implementation of the IMF programme reforms and ongoing negotiations to approve the disbursement of the tranche related to the fifth review.
