Singer Chris Brown pleads not guilty to assault in UK

Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty to a charge that he beat and seriously injured a music producer with a bottle in a London nightclub in 2023.
Brown, 36, pleaded not guilty on Friday to one count of causing grievous bodily harm with intent in Southwark Crown Court.
Brown's friend and fellow musician Omololu Akinlolu, 38, who performs under the name Hoody Baby, pleaded not guilty to the same charge.
Prosecutors said Brown and Akinlolu assaulted producer Abe Diaw at a bar in the Tape nightclub in the swanky Mayfair neighbourhood in February 2023.
Brown allegedly launched an unprovoked attack on Diaw and hit him several times with a bottle and then punched and kicked him.
The attack was caught on surveillance camera in front of a club full of people, prosecutors said.

Lizzo reveals secret to her slimdown — and finally sets the record straight on Ozempic use

Lizzo has spoken about her weight loss journey - and clarified her Ozempic use - months after clapping back at rumours about the drug. 'I've tried everything,' the singer, 37, said on Trisha Paytas' Just Trish podcast on Thursday, per Page Six. The Grammy winner explained however that she abandoned the semaglutide, which has not been approved for use for weight loss in Australia, early into her journey. 'Ozempic works because you eat less food, yeah? So if you eat right, it makes you feel full,' she said. 'But if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it's the same thing.' Ozempic is also associated with a number of side-effects including most commonly gastrointestinal disorders like nausea, diarrhoea and vomiting, in a way that doctor-approved changes to diet and exercise are not. 'When I was vegan, I was consuming a lot of fake meats, I was eating a lot of bread, I was eating a lot of rice and I had to eat a lot of it to stay full,' she recalled. 'When I started actually eating whole foods and eating, like, beef and chicken and fish, I was actually full and not expanding my stomach by putting a lot of fake things in there that [weren't] actually filling me up,' the songwriter continued. 'It's not easy,' Lizzo insisted. 'It's a drug to help somebody with something they're struggling with.' She added that 'telling someone they're cheating' is a 'way of being fatphobic.' According to the TGA in Australia, 'Ozempic has been included in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. This means that the medicine has been evaluated by the TGA for its safety, quality and efficacy for that indication only.' Lizzo made headlines in September 2024 for hitting back at an Instagram hater questioning whether she was taking the type II diabetes drug. 'Whyyyy [sic] do u follow me?' she asked at the time. The following year, Lizzo explained that she had, instead, applied 'a calorie deficit' and cut 'sugary stuff' from her diet. Geena Davis hails Mission: Impossible's 'great diversity'
Geena Davis loved the "great diversity" of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. The 69-year-old star has admitted to being impressed by the casting choices for the action movie, which saw Tom Cruise appear alongside the likes of Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga and Ving Rhames. Geena told Deadline: "Did you see the new Mission: Impossible yet? I noticed the great diversity in there, women left and right, all over the place, and people of colour and it's just normal and natural. But they clearly, in my estimation, put a lot of thought into that." Genna has been trying to make the movie industry more inclusive through her Geena Davis Institute on Gender and Media, which she founded two decades ago. The award-winning actress also oversees the Bentonville Film Festival, and Genna has explained how she approaches the issue of inclusivity. She shared: "In my institute we focus on what's on screen. And in the festival, we take into account both on screen and behind the camera. So, our directors and writers and producers are very diverse as well as [the cast] on screen." Genna thinks it's important that the film industry reflects the wider population. The Accidental Tourist star said: "It just makes sense to reflect the people that are watching the movie. "Ultimately, what I think we're trying to prove is that films with unique voices that represent the population are very commercial. Research shows that the more diversity there is on screen, the more money the movie makes. But people haven't really taken that to heart as much as they could." Walmart - the supermarket chain founded in Bentonville - actually created the Bentonville Film Festival with inclusion as its focus. And Genna has relished the opportunity to lead the festival. The Hollywood star explained: "Each department of Walmart has to come up with their sort of public outreach, public service initiative that they do. "The home video department thought, 'Hey, what if we were to have a film festival for representation, that is about representation?' And they thought that was a good idea. And then I was thought of as someone who might be — they needed to get a Robert Redford or Robert De Niro, or somebody named Robert to be the person fronting it. And they thought of me, and I came here and talked to everybody, and I really wanted to do it." The Oscar-winning actress feels proud of what she's managed to achieve with the festival in a relatively short space of time. She said: "We decided to put it on very quickly, so we only had about five months to put it all together for the first iteration. But we pulled it off and it gets bigger and better every year."
