U.S. Senior Challenge: Louisiana on top after second-round leaderboard shuffle
After a second-round leaderboard shuffle at the U.S. Senior Challenge, there's a lot to be said for consistency. That's how the four-man squad from Louisiana found itself at the top of the team leaderboard with 18 holes left to play at Hobe Sound (Florida) Golf Club.
On a day when scores rose across the board, Louisiana players managed to match their 6-over effort from the first day to not only climb from the third-place spot into the top spot, but build a six-shot cushion over the next-closest team.
In the play-four-count-three team format, Louisiana used rounds of 1-over 73 from Claud Cooper, 2-over 74 from Stan Humphries and 3-over 75 from team captain Grady Brame on Tuesday.

While one team champion is crowned at the U.S. Senior Challenge, individual champions will be named in each of the four age divisions: senior, super senior, legends and super legends. World Amateur Golf Ranking points are also awarded.
Humphries, at 1 over for the tournament (71-74), is tied for first in the Senior division with Michael Arasin, who is captaining an Alabama-Georgia team that, entering the final round, is closest on Louisiana's heels. Cooper is another two shots back in a tie for third with Charlie Stevens, a member of the fifth-place Kansas team.
The day began with the Florida team captained by William Boockford, the reigning Legends champion of the Golfweek Senior Tournament of Champions, in the lead. Hobe Sound native Rich Buckner helped greatly in that team effort with an opening 70, but Buckner fell to 82 in the second round as the team slipped to fifth.
Boockford, for his part, is 4 over individually (73-75) and trailing by only two shots in the Legends division.
Donny Phillips, at 5 over, leads the Super Senior division. His Ohio-Georgia team is in a tie for eighth on the team leaderboard. Gary Jeffreys, a member of the Texas team also in a share of eighth, is 9 over and at the top of the Super Legends division.

Instant recap: LSU baseball beats Coastal Carolina in CWS Game 1 Final
For the second time in three years, LSU is back in the College World Series finals. This year, the Tigers and Jay Johnson look to get revenge for the 2016 season. Kade Anderson would throw nine full innings and allow zero runs on three hits, 10 strikeouts, and five walks as he led the Tigers to a 1-0 win in Game 1. For the final time, Kade Anderson would trot out onto the mound to give it his all for LSU. He was fully rested and ready to give LSU a shot at starting this series 1-0. Advertisement Two Chanticleer runners reached base in the top of the first, but neither of them was able to score. In the bottom of the first inning, LSU would draw first blood as Derek Curiel walked and Steven Milam hit an RBI single to bring him around to score and give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. In the top of the third inning, Coastal Carolina would get a runner in scoring position with two outs. They attempted a double steal, and Luis Hernandez made a great throw to Michael Braswell III, and the runner slid off the bag as Braswell secured the tag for the third out. In the bottom of the third inning, Milam hit a double and then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Jake Brown struck out with two outs to strand him at third and keep the game 1-0. In the bottom of the sixth inning, LSU had another chance to score as Milam walked, and then an errant throw to first on a pick-off attempt almost resulted in extra bases for Milam, but the ball hit the umpire, so Milam was unable to advance. Instead, LSU had runners on the corners with two outs, and Chris Stanfield grounded out to end the inning. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Daniel Dickinson was hit by a pitch on a 3-2 count, but after review, he was called out as it was determined that he leaned into the pitch for out number one. Braswell would ground out, Curiel reached on an infield single, and Ethan Frey was called out on a check swing for out number three. As we headed to the top of the ninth inning, LSU still led 1-0, and Kade Anderson once again went out on the mound to pitch. After a strikeout and a groundout, Coastal Carolina would get a walk to put a runner on first base with two outs. Anderson would get a flyout to right field for out number three! College World Series 2025 score: LSU's Kade Anderson makes argument for No. 1 pick with shutout win in Game 1

Gratz) If LSU southpaw Kade Anderson is the No. 1 pick of the 2025 MLB Draft, Game 1 of the Men's College World Series will be a reason why. The All-American sophomore dominated Coastal Carolina with a shutout to put his team one win away from its second NCAA title in three years. His final line: eight innings, three hits, zero runs, five walks and 10 strikeouts on 130 pitches in a 1-0 win. Advertisement It was the first shutout thrown in the MCWS finals since 2018. The win also snapped a best-in-the-nation 26-game win streak for the Chanticleers. Anderson is ranked by MLB Pipeline as the No. 3 prospect of the upcoming draft and is one of the top options for the Washington Nationals with the No. 1 pick. His main competition appears to be Oklahoma high school shortstop Ethan Holliday, son of former MLB All-Star Matt Holliday. The 20-year-old Anderson has three different pitches ranked as plus by Pipeline and he showed off all of them on Saturday. His fastball sat in the mid-90s while his slider and changeup regularly fooled hitters. Advertisement "Lot of credit to our defense, I didn't have that many strikeouts so a lot of credit to them," Anderson said after the game, in which he, again, posted 10 strikeouts. LSU needed every shutout inning, with Coastal Carolina's Cameron Flukey and Dominick Carbone holding the Tigers to six hits and one run. They got the sole run of the game in the bottom of the first inning. when a leadoff walk from Derek Curiel opened the door for a Steven Milam RBI single.
