Your most skilful Newcastle players
Newcastle legend Steve Howey named Peter Beardsley, Paul Gascoigne, David Ginola, Chris Waddle and Hatem Ben Arfa as the club's most skilful players ever. Here are some players that you think deserved to be on the list: Richard: While I agree totally with Beardo as number one I don't think you can put Ginola and Ben Arfa in and leave out fellow Frenchman Laurent Robert. I mean, Robert didn't score goals…. he scored GOALS!! Every one was a worldy! He had absolutely no concept of defending, of course, but what a player going forward!John: Allan Saint-Maximin should be on that list, a sorely under-appreciated talent who made Grealish look sluggish and left defenders completely bamboozled. Thanks PSR for making us sell him on.Michael: Nobby Solano.Ken: Jimmy Smith. Frustrating at times but a brilliant dribbler on his day. I saw him nutmeg Bobby Moore twice in succession. He did it because he could but I don't think he should have done, not good to do that to a well respected and great professional.Owen: Tony Green, career cut short by injury but the best that I've seen at Newcastle.Anthony: He didn't miss anyone out. How great it is to have three Geordies in the top five! They'd get into our team today.

Isak 'taking things into own hands' claim shows what Liverpool and Arsenal need
Alexander Isak has been linked with a move to Liverpool and Arsenal in the summer transfer window, but he has been told he doesn't need to leave Newcastle United to realise his ambitions Liverpool and Arsenal need Alexander Isak to take matters into his own hands if they are to have any chance of signing the Newcastle striker this summer. That's according to former Magpies midfielder Geremi, who also insists the Swede doesn't need to leave St James' Park to take his career to the next level. The Gunners, who are in the market for a top-class number nine this summer, are long-term admirers of Isak. Meanwhile, Liverpool have also emerged as potential suitors as they look for an upgrade on Darwin Nunez, who's available for sale. However, Newcastle are under no pressure to sell and would only consider letting him leave for a fee in excess of £150million, reports The Telegraph. There has been no suggestion that Isak – whose Magpies contract has another three years left to run – is really angling for a move. That stance from the player would need to change, says Geremi, for either of last season's top two to land the prolific 25-year-old. 'First of all, they [Newcastle] need to keep their best players at all costs,' said Geremi, speaking to BoyleSports, who offer the latest Club World Cup odds. 'I'm not sure Newcastle would sell Isak for any fee, but it would become an issue if the player took the decision into his own hands.' Having won the Carabao Cup earlier this year and qualified for the Champions League, the former Chelsea midfielder and Cameroon international insists the Magpies are now on the 'same level' as Liverpool and Arsenal. Geremi added: 'He had a great season and is at one of the biggest teams in the world when it comes to financial backing. 'The environment is all there and I don't think he would gain anything by moving to Liverpool or Arsenal. I think Newcastle are at the same level. Newcastle are now contenders to win the Premier League and the Champions League. 'When they got new owners, I said it would take them three or four years and a trophy to put them in that position and now they are there. They are ready to compete because they have been built under Eddie Howe, they have the right finances and they are an attractive proposition for new players. 'New signings will have no doubt about joining the club this summer and I wouldn't be surprised if they have an incredible season.' For Arsenal, a deal for either Benjamin Seskso or Viktor Gyokeres looks much more likely at this stage. A new number nine is seen as critical as Arsenal look to go from 'nearly men' to winners following three successive runner-up finishes in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Liverpool have already been busy this summer, signing Bayer Leverkusen pair Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong. The former has now completed his transfer, which could rise to £116m – meaning the Reds have already broken the British record this summer.

"Jon Jones is officially retired. Tom Aspinall is the heavyweight champion of the UFC."Do I regret the time that I gave [Jones to decide]? Listen, if you look at what he's accomplished in the sport, no."Jones, 37, claimed the heavyweight title in March 2023 and fought Stipe Miocic last November, despite Aspinall claiming the interim belt the year campaigned for a fight with Jones but the American decided against accepting the UFC's is considered one of the best mixed martial artists of all time but will turn 38 in July and said previously fighting Aspinall wouldn't add to his "legacy".Aspinall reacted to the news on his social media, saying: "For you fans, it's time to get this heavyweight division going. An active undisputed champion."The Englishman is expected to defend the title this summer or early autumn and is likely to face number-one contender Ciryl has not fought since July 2024 and has spent just three minutes and 22 seconds in the octagon since 2023."I obviously feel bad for Tom that he lost all that time and obviously money, but we'll make it up to him," said White. "Tom Aspinall's a good guy. He's been incredible through this whole process. "He's been willing to do anything, fight him anywhere at any time and do this, and now he's like 'I'll fight anybody - you tell me who and I'll fight them'." Heavyweight uncertainty finally ends - analysis Aspinall goes down in history as the longest-reigning interim champion in the and desperate negotiations have left the division at a standstill for seven months and fans will be left wondering why the UFC let it go on for so November, White has insisted again and again the fight between Aspinall and Jones would be made. It wasn't until the last two weeks that the UFC president finally seemed to signal they weren't going to be able to convince such is the power of the star, 'Bones' Jones was permitted to keep the belt despite a lengthy injury absence and was allowed to fight Miocic, a retiring legend, instead of Aspinall on his allowances were understandable in many ways given the circumstances, but it is also true they happened because Jones has earned his right to even his power has a limit and the UFC has reached it. Now the heavyweight division will open a new chapter, with an Englishman at the is a seminal moment for UK MMA as Aspinall follows in the footsteps of Leon Edwards and Michael Bisping and becomes the first Briton to hold the UFC heavyweight title, arguably the most coveted title in Mancunian has played the devoted company man and should now be rewarded, although two-time title challenger Gane will not be an easy first will feel his reign as undisputed champion won't officially start until the next time his hand is raised in the octagon.
