VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has suggested exploring the possibility of establishing a Civil Aviation University in Visakhapatnam.
He underscored the need to enhance connectivity from airports in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and across the State to various domestic and international cities.
At a review meeting held on Wednesday at the Secretariat at Velagapudi, Chandrababu Naidu assessed the progress of the Vijayawada International Airport terminal construction. Union Minister for Civil Aviation K Ram Mohan Naidu, senior ministry officials, and the Chairman of the Airports Authority of India participated virtually.
The Chief Minister instructed that the terminal's architectural design should be visually striking and unique. He directed airport authorities to ensure that various components like the terminal elevation, departure and arrival blocks, and passenger lounges reflect Andhra Pradesh's rich cultural heritage. He called for elements such as Kuchipudi dance, Kondapalli toys, Amaravati emblems, and Lepakshi art to be incorporated into the design.
He also issued clear instructions regarding the construction of the terminal building, including the ramp connection to the national highway. Additionally, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of terminal works at Kadapa and Rajamahendravaram airports.
Union Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu informed the Chief Minister that technical feasibility studies are underway for new airports at Dagadarthi, Kuppam and Palasa (Srikakulam district). Regarding the proposed Amaravati Airport, the Union Minister said land surveys were in progress and a RITES team will soon submit a report. If land pooling is completed, the project could commence within two years.
Operations at Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam airports have grown by nearly 40%, and there is increased interest from operators to expand connectivity from Vijayawada, Tirupati, Rajamahendravaram and Kurnool airports.
The Minister also mentioned that TruJet is set to launch services from Visakhapatnam to various locations starting in October, and that international flights between Vijayawada–Singapore and Tirupati–Muscat will commence soon. Seaplane operations are expected to begin after September.
He further informed that the Qatar Aviation Fund has expressed investment interest in the Bhogapuram Airport project.

The Phase 2 (B) proposal includes three corridors: RGIA to Bharat Future City (Skills University), covering 39.6 km at a cost of Rs 7,168 crore; JBS to Medchal, spanning 24.5 km at Rs 6,946 crore; and JBS to Shamirpet, extending 22 km at Rs 5,465 crore. Similar to the previously submitted Phase 2 (A) project, which comprised five corridors totalling 76.4 km, Phase 2 (B) is also proposed as a joint venture between the central govt and the Telangana govt. According to the central govt's JV norms, funding will comprise Rs 5,874 crore (30%) from the Telangana govt, Rs 3,524 crore (18%) from the central govt, Rs 9,398 crore (48%) in the form of debt from international financial institutions and Rs 783 crore (4%) through a public-private partnership (PPP) component.

However, food lovers in Banaras can now breathe a sigh of relief, as both Pahalwan Lassi and Chachi Ki Kachori have now opened shops at a new location. Known not just for her delicious food but also for her sharp tongue, she would famously serve up playful 'gaaliyan' (scoldings) along with the kachoris — something regular customers began to consider a special kind of blessing. Kailash proudly recalled that several well-known personalities, including Bollywood superstar Rajesh Khanna and Union Minister Smriti Irani, had visited their shop to enjoy the signature dish. Revenue ‘grama sabhas' flooded with land related grievances
Hyderabad: The Revenue Department has successfully completed statewide revenue 'grama sabhas' that are aimed at resolving land related issues, following the introduction of Bhu Bharati Act. Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy informed that approximately 8.58 lakh applications were received during the 10,000 and odd meetings that were held. Khammam and Bhadradri-Kothagudem districts topped the grievances list with 67,000 and 61,000 applications, respectively. They were followed by Warangal (54,000), Jayashankar Bhupalapally (48,000) and Nalgonda with 42,000 applications. The Minister said that over 60 per cent of the issues that were raised had been resolved, excluding cases related to Sadabainama. Presiding over the review meeting at the Secretariat, Srinivas Reddy said that the Act is being implemented in a phased manner, since its introduction on April 14. In the initial phase, conducted from April 17 to 30, around 12,000 applications were received through 72 revenue meetings across four mandals. In the second phase that commenced on May 5, 46,000 applications were collected in 414 meetings across 28 mandals. Between June 3 and 20, revenue meetings were held in 10,239 villages spanning 561 mandals, resulting in a collection of eight lakh applications. In aggregate, 10,725 revenue sadassulu were conducted across 593 mandals over the course of three phases. He pointed out that a day preceding the revenue meetings, application forms were distributed free of cost to farmers within their respective villages. Special teams were constituted under the supervision of the MROs. Revenue officials proactively approached the people to collect applications and issue receipts for all submissions. He further noted that till date 3.27 lakh applications have been successfully registered online, and officials have been directed to expedite registration of the remaining applications.
