Thai actor Prom Ratchapat dumped by agency amid claims of sexual misconduct, unprotected sex and coercing abortions

BANGKOK, June 18 — Thai actor Prom Ratchapat Worasarn has been dropped by his management agency YWPB Official, after allegations of sexual misconduct – including his teenage fans.
The agency said it conducted a thorough inquiry with Prom Ratchapat, who has featured in Thai series like Jack & Joker: U Steal My Heart! and En Of Love.
YWPB added that it has reviewed all related content, including images and conversations circulating online.
'As a result, YWPB and Prom Ratchapat have mutually agreed to terminate his contract with the company, effective immediately, to allow him the time and space needed to address the situation appropriately,' it was quoted by Singapore-based The Straits Times as saying in a June 15 media statement.
Social media screenshots have been circulating online since June 14 alleging the 26-year-old to have plied several young women with alcoholic drinks and later, having unprotected sex, several news outlets reported.
One post claimed Prom refused to use a condom, calling it a 'waste of plastic'.
Another claimed she paid for emergency contraceptive pills, but subsequently got pregnant.
One more claimed Prom told a woman to have an abortion for a child he fathered, adding that he refused to even allow his name on the birth certificate if she chose to keep the baby.
The actor who had 1.3 million followers on his Instagram has reportedly unfollowed everyone on the platform.

JPJ finalising investigation papers for bus operator responsible for deadly UPSI accident

BUTTERWORTH, June 20 — The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is finalising the investigation papers for action to be taken in court against the bus company operator involved in the accident that claimed the lives of 15 Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students Its director-general, Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the investigation is now in the final stages before being handed over to the Deputy Public Prosecutor to decide on the charge recommendation. 'There are two investigation papers that we are preparing (to take action) against the company operator and also the company that leased the bus. 'The investigation papers are still at the JPJ level and we expect to hand them over to the prosecution soon,' he said at a press conference after officiating the Penang-level MyLesen B2 Driving Licence Handover Ceremony here today. Previously, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook had said that the JPJ would open an investigation paper against the bus company involved in the accident that claimed the lives of 15 UPSI students due to the company's failure to operate according to the stipulated rules and regulations. Regarding the allegation that the JPJ could not record the bus company's operator's statement because he suffered a heart attack, Aedy Fadly said his side was not informed about the matter. 'He (the bus operator) had a heart attack, it has nothing to do with the JPJ and I have not received any reports saying otherwise. We will still take action; if he goes to the hospital we will wait,' he added. In the incident on June 9, 15 UPSI students died when the bus they were in overturned in an accident at KM53 of the East-West Highway (JRTB), near Tasik Banding, Gerik. The bus carrying 42 university students was travelling from Jertih, Terengganu to the university's main campus in Tanjung Malim, Perak when it collided with a Perodua Alza before overturning. — Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 — Outgoing Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain today handed over his duties to his successor, Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, marking the end of a 42-year career with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM). The official handover ceremony, held at the Dewan Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Hashim in Pulapol Kuala Lumpur, also saw the appointment of Datin Sri Munirah Che Rose as the new chairperson of the Police Family Association (PERKEP) Malaysia. Razarudin congratulated Khalid on his appointment as the 15th Inspector-General of Police, expressing confidence in Khalid's leadership and integrity in taking the force to greater heights. What counts as whistleblowing in Malaysia? MACC explains who qualifies for legal protection

KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 — Individuals who report information about misconduct directly to enforcement agencies and meet the prescribed criteria and conditions will be granted protection as informants or whistleblowers. Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Senior Director (Legal and Prosecution Division) Datuk Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin said this is an important aspect the public needs to understand, apart from not being able to disclose the information to the public. He said that although the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010 protects informants against improper retaliation, such protection is only applicable if reports are made through legal procedures to enforcement agencies such as the MACC, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) or relevant government agencies. 'There's a misconception that anyone with information about misconduct can automatically seek protection as a whistleblower. In reality, it's not that simple. 'A common misunderstanding is the belief that informants can publicly disclose information, for example, to the media or on social media, before officially applying for protection. This is incorrect,' he told Bernama. He said that in order to qualify for whistleblower protection, a report must also be made in good faith and not be driven by personal motives such as revenge or defamation. Additionally, the whistleblower must not be involved in the offence being reported, he added. Citing Section 11(1) of the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010, he said, protection can be revoked if the whistleblower is found to have participated in the misconduct they exposed. 'This provision is crucial to maintaining the integrity of whistleblowers and to prevent the misuse of protected status as a shield against offences they have committed,' he said. Wan Shaharuddin said that while the law provides legal protection, whistleblowers still face various challenges, including being labelled as 'complainants' or 'traitors', fears of retaliation and discrimination, and a general lack of public understanding about the legal process for applying for protection. In efforts to encourage more individuals, especially civil servants, to report corruption cases, he said, the government has introduced cash incentives and official recognition for those who report corruption to the MACC since 2011. He shared that as of last year, 514 civil servants had received rewards totalling over RM1 million, with the highest individual reward amounting to RM100,000. In addition, Wan Shaharuddin said that to further enhance whistleblower protection, the government had tabled the Whistleblower Protection (Amendment) Bill 2025 in the Dewan Rakyat on March 6. 'The amendment aims to strengthen protection for whistleblowers who report misconduct, particularly in cases of corruption within both the public and private sectors. It is expected to provide more comprehensive protection to whistleblowers, including protection from harmful actions and immunity from civil or criminal action. 'This amendment is hoped to encourage more individuals to come forward to report misconduct without fear,' he said. — Bernama
