Lanzante, a builder of exceedingly fast cars, has announced it is to build an exceedingly fast car to commemorate an exceedingly fast old car. Welcome to the 95-59. Or at least a bit of it.
Yes folks, we return to the glorious world of three-seat supercars. This new Lanzante 95-59 is being constructed to honour McLaren's victory at the 1995 Le Mans 24hrs – a victory exactly 30 years old today, 18 June.

That's the '95' bit, the other bit references – bingo! – the winning #59 McLaren F1 GTR. And lo, Lanzante will create just 59 of these new cars. On what platform we have yet to uncover, Lanzante only offering that it'll be a 'current' supercar.
Though, we know it'll deliver a bit of a haymaker in the form of 700bhp per tonne via a non-hybridised engine. No idea which engine, but you can probably guess. And it'll be designed by the chap who did the original P1, and P1 GTR, and 720S – Paul Howse. You might like
'95-59 is the distillation of everything learnt and experienced by Lanzante over three decades of road converting, racing, developing, building and engineering some of the world's most iconic vehicles for discerning clients,' it said.
'With this expertise, 95-59 is being engineered to deliver the most immersive and engaging experience for the driver and two passengers, whilst capable of carrying luggage and extended cruising range, ensuring its useability and versatility beyond the track.'

The new BMW X7 is getting the Neue Klasse treatment

We only got confirmation last month that BMW's largest SUV, the X7, will return for a second generation, but we've caught it testing on the road already as it's prepared for an expected launch in 2026. BMW subtly announced the new model during its Q1 financial results call earlier this year, during which the company revealed it had incurred the research and development costs for the upcoming Neue Klasse line-up (which will launch later this year with the new iX3) as well as 'successor models to the BMW X5 and BMW X7'. Advertisement - Article continues below News of a fifth-generation X5 was no surprise, as we've also spotted it testing with some clear design influences from the Neue Klasse concepts. As with the new X5, due in 2026, the X7, which may also arrive next year, looks like it'll borrow styling from the Neue Klasse line-up. What is immediately obvious from the shots of this camouflaged test car is that the X7 will retain its position as BMW's biggest SUV. The sheer proportions will surely give it seven-seat capacity once more, ensuring it remains a close rival to the Mercedes GLS (which will soon be updated) and the full-size Range Rover. Skip advert Advertisement - Article continues below At the front end, it looks like the new X7 will continue with the split headlight design that appears on the current car and the 7 Series limousine flagship. Here we can see a chunky headlight cluster below a thin LED strip. In the middle, there's a vertical kidney grille arrangement – we'll have to wait and see if this merges into the headlights, as per the Neue Klasse concept models. Also visible are some tabs on top of the doors to the side, which is something we've seen on other prototype BMWs, including the next-generation X5. At the rear, the design is less radical, with a quad-tip exhaust system on this car suggesting it could be a hot M50 or M60 variant, plus an overhanging roof spoiler. Underneath, the new X7 is expected to sit on a revised version of BMW's existing Cluster Architecture (CLAR). This platform is able to cater to both internal-combustion and pure-electric powertrains. While BMW hasn't suggested the new X7 will gain a pure-electric variant, the German firm has at least trademarked the 'iX7' nameplate. An all-electric iX7 wouldn't be too surprising, however, given that BMW is in the process of creating EV variants of its core models. The Neue Klasse programme will see the introduction of the X3-sized iX3 first, followed by the all-electric 'i3' 3 Series and at a later stage an electric 'i1' 1 Series. It's possible the electric components for the iX7 could be taken from the i7. Powering the CLAR-underpinned i7 is a 105.7kWh battery with three different power outputs – a single-motor rear-wheel-drive 449bhp unit, a dual-motor four-wheel-drive 537bhp version and a top-rung dual-motor with 650bhp. Given the X7 is an SUV, we'd expect only the dual-motor all-wheel-drive layouts to be offered. Can't wait for the new model? Check out the best BMW X7 deals right now... F1 movie star Pitt finally gets to drive a Formula One car

June 20 (Reuters) - Brad Pitt, whose new F1 movie is out next week, has now driven a Formula One car for real after testing a McLaren at Austin's Circuit of the Americas. The reigning world champions confirmed the Hollywood A lister drove a 2023 McLaren MCL60 car at the Texas track on Thursday. Media reports said the British-based team had been carrying out a private test with F1 regular Lando Norris and F2 driver Alex Dunne. It was the first time 61-year-old Pitt, who plays the fictional racing driver Sonny Hayes in the Apple Originals movie, had driven a real Formula One car on track. The cars used in the making of the film were Formula Two cars, modified by Mercedes to look like real grand prix racers. Champions McLaren had teased the drive on Thursday with a social media post of overalls with the initials BP and the caption "It's a Sonny day in Austin". Seven-times world champion Lewis Hamilton, a co-producer of the movie, said in March that Pitt had shown real speed while testing the F2 cars. "Watching Brad drive around at speeds over 180 miles an hour was really impressive to see because it's not something you can just learn overnight," he said. "The dedication and the focus that Brad put into this process has been amazing to witness."

The Skoda Superb is now a pick-up truck!

Some of Skoda's Student Car creations – such as a Citigo-based beach buggy and the convertible Karoq 'Sunroq' – have been pretty wacky, and continuing this trend is a Skoda Superb Estate that's been transformed into a pick-up truck. It's called the L&K 130, and the name refers to the 130 years since Václav Laurin and Václav Klement founded Skoda as a bicycle maker in 1895 – although we suspect neither of them would have dreamt up something like this in the Czech firm's future. Advertisement - Article continues below The pick-up is the result of 2,000 hours of work by 28 trainees at Skoda's Vocational School, and marks the first time the Superb has been used as the basis for a Student Car concept. The L&K 130 acknowledges Skoda's connection to bicycle manufacturing through its loading bay, which can store several bikes – ideal for supporting cycling events like the Tour de France, which Skoda will do once again this summer. To create the pick-up body, the students cut the Superb Estate's roof behind the C-pillar, as well as modifying the B-pillar and shortening the roof rails. There's also a new window behind the second row of seats, and the right rear door sits on a sliding mechanism so as to not obstruct cyclists during a race. The cargo bed even extends at the push of a button and tilts by up to 35 degrees to make it easier to load bikes into the back. The traditional L&K colours of red, white, gold and black can be found all over the cabin, along with a unique '130 years' logo on the seats and an 'L&K' logo in the middle of the steering wheel. To meet the needs of a professional cycling team, there's an extra display on the passenger side for race data, a radio for communication, and a cool box in the back. In another first for a Student Car, the L&K 130 is a plug-in hybrid. It uses the standard Superb PHEV's powertrain, so it's a 148bhp 1.5-litre petrol mated to an electric motor for 201bhp. In the regular estate the 25.7kWh battery allows for up to 62 miles of electric running, but we expect the altered aerodynamics of the L&K 130 may reduce this somewhat.
