Welsh football league composition confirmed for new season
THE composition of next season's Welsh league has been confirmed.
Football Association of Wales (FAW) officials met this week to confirm the make up of the JD Cymru Premier and both its northern and southern feeder leagues as well as Wales' four regional third tier divisions.
Colwyn Bay and Llanelli make the step up to top flight which goes into its final season of the 12 club format without any mid Wales representation following the relegation of Newtown and Aberystwyth Town.
TNS will now become mid Wales' and the border's sole representative in the elite.
Aberystwyth Town have been relegated to JD Cymru South while Newtown join Caersws, Guilsfield and Penrhyncoch in JD Cymru North along with promoted Brickfield Rangers, Holyhead Hotspur and Rhyl 1879.
Brecon Corries will continue to be Powys' sole representatives in the Ardal South East League.
Meanwhile the Ardal North East League welcomes Llanrhaeadr, Knighton Town and Wrexham-based Lex XI while Corwen make the switch from the north western league.
Knighton join southern Powys rivals Llandrindod Wells, Builth Wells and Radnor Valley in representing their region while Llanrhaeadr join Kerry and Llanfair United as Montgomeryshire's representatives.
Bow Street and Dolgellau AA will once again compete in the north east league while Cefn Albion, Llangollen Town, Llanuwchllyn, Penycae and Rhos Aelwyd complete the line up.

Hundreds wave off Wales as they head to the Euros
Hundreds of people gathered at Cardiff Airport today (Sunday, June 21) to wave off Wales as they flew to Portugal for their training camp ahead of the UEFA Women's EURO 2025 tournament. The Euros, which will be held in Switzerland next month, will be the squad's first major tournament. Wales kick-off their campaign against the Netherlands in Lucerne on July 5. Their remaining two games are in St Gallen with France on July 9 and against reigning European champions England on July 13. Football fans of all ages cheered Rhian Wilkinson's squad on at the airport just days after the selected 23 players were announced on the top of Yr Wyddfa, Wales' highest mountain. Speaking amongst the crowds ahead of the journey to Switzerland, Jess Fishlock - former Wales Captain and all time highest goal scorer - said: "It's huge, it's so nice that they [the fans] came out and hopefully we are an inspiration for them and their future and it shows how much support we have from the nation. "I'm super excited, I think today it has finally hit home what we are doing and I just can't wait to get there. "This is the best moment of my career, no doubt about that, and I am just excited to go on the big stage with my Welsh girls." Of those announced in the squad on Monday was Sophie Ingle who has been out since September with an injury. The 33-year-old damaged her anterior cruciate ligament whilst playing for Chelsea in a pre-season friendly. Ingle who has won 141 caps and led Wales 83 times from 2015 to 2024 before stepping down from the role – has been in a race against time to make next month's Euros in Switzerland. Last month Wilkinson rated the former Wales captain as '50-50' to play at the Euros, saying she 'wanted her back but not at the risk of Sophie Ingle's knee'. Wilkinson's 23-strong squad for Wales' first major tournament includes a few surprises. Defender Rhiannon Roberts is included after injury ruled her out of Nations League action last month, and veteran forward Jess Fishlock is the star name in a squad skippered by her Seattle Reign team-mate Angharad James. The former Everton and Tottenham midfielder is one of four centurions in the squad, alongside Fishlock, Ingle and Hayley Ladd. Aston Villa goalkeeper Soffia Kelly, Manchester City defender Mayzee Davies, Bristol City forward Tianna Teisar and Manchester United striker Mared Griffiths miss out after being in the squad for last month's Nations League games against Denmark and Italy. The 18-year-old Davies suffered a rupture to her ACL against Denmark and faces a considerable spell on the sidelines. 'This could have been a horrific incident': Ken Skates on the Conwy Tunnel fire
Ken Skates paid a visit to the Conwy Tunnel today (Sunday) to see the work that had been done to get it reopened, after it was shut following a crane lorry fire on Thursday. The tunnel fully reopened today, after a contraflow was put in place, following Thursday's blaze, which saw people instructed to leave their vehicles and walk out, as acrid black smoke billowed out. Mr Skates, Welsh Government Cabinet Secretary for North Wales and Transport said "This could have been a horrific incident," but said the safety systems in place had done their job. "The effort by the team has been quite phenomenal to get it open again in such a short space of time," he said. "We were under promising and the team have now over-delivered, so I'm really grateful to them. Commenting on the safety of the tunnel Mr Skates said: "There are going to be some armchair analsysts who will say that things should be done slightly differently, or different measures should be implemented and incorporated into the tunnel. "But a lot of the learning and measures date back to the aftermath of the Mont Blanc Tunnel disaster., when there was huge loss of life, after a terrible fire. "Regulations were introduced through European directives and then they were adopted by the UK when we left. As a result of that, regular rehearsals of events and incidents such as this have to take place - standards that have to be meet. Just two months ago, an exercise was undertaken, by multiple agencies and it was precisely to address the sort of incident that took place on Thursday. "It's that sort of planning that is so vitally important to ensuring that there is no loss of life and no injuries. This could have been a horrific incident, but instead, because of the planning and the preparations and the ventilation systems in place in the tunnel - nobody was injured, nobody was killed. and the public were able to be evacuated without too much anxiety or stress." Mr Skates said there are some tunnels that have sprinklers, but they are not necessarlily required. "They may cool the tunnel," Mr Skates said: "But they don't deal with the fundamental cause of the blaze. That requires emergency services to get in there and deal with it. "Tunnels have to have the mechanical ventilation system that deals with the air flow and that enables the safe evacuation of people from the tunnel. This is a standard system which is in place in tunnels across Europe, which is proven to work and last week it was proven to work and sprinkler systems are not needed." Mr Skates said there are further repairs scheduled for the tunnel on Tuesday night.
