Kevin Thomson opens up on Rangers coaching future as he insists ball is in new Ibrox regime's court

Kevin Thomson admits he doesn't know if he will continue his role in the coaching set-up at Rangers next season.
The former midfielder returned to the club back in January to work alongside U18s boss Steven Smith at Ibrox back in January after initially leaving Gers to become manager of Kelty Hearts back in 2021.
Despite leading the Fife side to the League Two title in his first season, Thomson opted to step away from the job, turning his focus to media commitments.
Thomson had been linked with a position on former teammate Barry Ferguson' s coaching team when the ex Light Blues captain replaced the sacked Philippe Clement back in February, but was omitted in favour of Neil McCann, Allan McGregor and Billy Dodds.
New boss Russell Martin has been joined at Ibrox by one-time Rangers goalkeeper Matt Gilks and performance analyst Rhys Owen, who both worked with him at previous club Southampton.
And with Thomson current contract with Rangers set to expire on June 30 - he says he is yet to learn if he will remain a part of the new owners 49ers Enterpises plans going forward.
Speaking on BBC Sportsound. he said: "Obviously in that time there's been a takeover, a new manager.
"My contract finished on June 30. As of yet I've not really had much dialogue with the club.
"I'm just waiting to see what's what.
"Moving forward, if there's an opportunity there then brilliant.
"If there's not, then you know what I'm like, I just bash on and keep grafting away."

Former Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain number two Zsolt Low was appointed as interim manager for the remainder of the campaign but is not expected to be in contention to land the job on a permanent basis. And while Ole Werner - who stepped down from Werder Bremen last month after leading them to a eight place finish in the Bundesliga - is the favourite to replace Low, German outlet Merkur state that getting the managerial situation sorted will take preference over improving the squad. Leipzig have already snapped up the signing of talented Dutch youngster OH Leuven ahead of the new season but that deal was completed back in April. The report also states that a potential swoop for Valencia's Spain U21 star Cristhian Mosquera has also cooled until a new man in the hot seat is in place. They claim that Mosquera has gone as far as giving Leizpig a verbal agreement that he wants to move to Germany but won't officially put pen to paper until he knows just who he will be playing under. With the Gers stars due back for pre-season on Monday, Martin hopes to get the deal concluded quickly for him to travel north and join his side as they build up to the new season. Aarons made over 200 appearances for Martin's former club Norwich and was a youth player in their system during his time there. And he spoke fondly about the impact the former Canaries captain had on his development. Now he's set to rekindle their relationship in Glasgow as he becomes his second signing after Lyall Cameron's move from Dundee was formally completed last week. A report by TBR Football says Premier League new boys Leeds United were interested in his securing a loan deal for the former England Under 21 international.
