Road rage: Sub inspector booked for thrashing armyman

Lucknow: An Army officer accused a sub inspector of physically assaulting him and attempting to run him over with a vehicle following a road rage incident at Telibagh crossing on Saturday morning. An FIR was registered on Sunday against the unidentified police personnel. Lt Col Anand Prakash Suman, currently posted with the NCC Directorate in Patna, filed a complaint at PGI police station alleging that around 9.40 am, while travelling with his family in his car, he took a turn towards PGI Road when another car — allegedly driven by a police sub-inspector — approached from the wrong direction, forcing him to apply brake suddenly. This caused an auto-rickshaw to rear-end his vehicle. According to Col Suman, when he questioned the driver for coming from the wrong direction, the S-I began hurling abuses. "As I rolled down my window to speak, he slapped me without provocation," Col Suman stated in his complaint. When he tried to stop the officer's car from fleeing, the sub inspector allegedly drove over his left foot with the vehicle and sped away. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Install the Perfect Pool at Home – Start Here Backyard Pool | Search Ads Learn More Undo The officer, who hails from Bilgram in Hardoi district, demanded strict action, saying, "This is not just an attack on an individual but an affront to the dignity of the armed forces." City's Kamal brings adept break-building skills to the snooker table at Asian c'ship

Bhopal: The Asian 6-Red Snooker Championship witnessed an impressive start as Bhopal's Kamal Chawla showcased his expertise at the international level. Bhopal's Kamal Chawla, the reigning IBSF World 6-Red snooker champion, was the most impressive of the three Indians in the fray, scoring a lopsided 4-1 win over Wai Ip Lam of Macao, China, in Group 'C'. Playing at the championship venue in Colombo, Chawla's strategic approach and precise shots dominated the match from the beginning. In the opening frame, Chawla established his authority with calculated moves, securing a 42-5 win. His confidence grew notably in the second frame, where he executed a brilliant 66 clearance, leaving his opponent scoreless. The third frame further demonstrated Chawla's superior form with a spectacular 67 clearance. Though the fourth frame presented a brief challenge when Lam capitalised on Chawla's missed long red pot to score a break of 40, it proved to be a temporary setback. Chawla regained his rhythm in the final frame, securing a convincing 49-7 victory to wrap up the match. This victory holds particular significance as Chawla, the current IBSF World 6-Red snooker champion, aims to add the Asian title to his impressive portfolio. The match highlighted Chawla's exceptional break-building abilities and tactical acumen, skills that have earned him recognition in the international snooker circuit. His experience and composure were evident throughout the game, particularly in how he bounced back after the fourth frame setback. The championship continues to feature top players from across Asia, with Chawla's victory marking a strong start for India's campaign in the tournament.
