Meeting chaired by Al-Madani to discuss activities implemented during afforestation season
Sana'a - Saba:
A meeting in the capital Sana'a on Monday, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Administration and Local and Rural Development Mohammed al-Madani, discussed activities implemented during the afforestation season and plans to enhance vegetation cover in various provinces.
In the meeting, which included Ministers of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Dr. Radwan al-Rubai Health and Environment, Dr. Ali Shaiban; Chairman of the Agricultural Cooperative Union, Mubarak al-Qili; and a number of agricultural and environmental leaders, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the government, through the National Committee for Economic Empowerment, is working on parallel tracks to find sustainable alternatives for those who rely on cutting trees as a source of income.
He pointed out that protecting the environment is a national and societal responsibility that requires integrated efforts. He emphasized the importance of providing central support to local authorities to enable them to implement afforestation plans, in addition to exploiting the autumn season to expand green areas.
He urged the provision of peace tree and jujube tree seeds and the expansion of seedling production, contributing to building a sustainable environment that serves future generations.
Al-Madani noted the role of the media, preachers, and dignitaries in raising environmental awareness, stating that Yemeni society, with its rural nature, is qualified to lead the agricultural-ecological transformation, especially with community mobilization through the Agricultural Cooperative Union.
The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources announced the launch of a national project to plant one million seedlings during the current agricultural season, stressing that the ministry had actually begun implementing the project last March, along with planting 100,000 jujube seedlings in Tihama and Saada, through the ministry's own efforts and the community.
Al-Rubai explained that the ministry had established new nurseries in provinces that lacked them, especially Al-Jawf, to strengthen the infrastructure of the agricultural sector, emphasizing that agricultural awareness programs also include summer centers, as part of building a generation with agricultural awareness.
For his part, the Minister of Health and Environment pointed out that the deterioration of the vegetation cover impacts public health and the environmental situation, which requires concerted efforts and the development of solutions and alternatives to prevent excessive logging and raise environmental awareness of its risks and harms.
Dr. Shaiban emphasized the need for coordination between various stakeholders to provide a healthy and safe environment, calling on all members of society to assume their national responsibilities in preserving and protecting environmental resources.
The Chairman of the Agricultural Cooperative Union affirmed the union's commitment to implementing the directives of the Ministry of Agriculture and development partners, highlighting the importance of implementing afforestation campaigns through agricultural cooperatives to ensure direct access to farmers and achieve a real impact on the ground.

President Al-Mashat: We will work to prevent any participation in aggression against Iran by all legitimate means
Sana'a - (Saba): His Excellency Field Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat, President of the Supreme Political Council, confirmed that he will "direct the Foreign Ministry to send a memorandum to notify the United Nations of our observations of preparations and readiness by some member states to participate with the Israeli entity in its aggression against Iran." President Al-Mashat said in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), "We will work to prevent any participation in the aggression against Iran by all legitimate means." He called on all Arab, Islamic, and peace-loving countries to make the same decision instead of waiting for us to target one country after another. He added, "We have every right to our decision, humanitarian, religious, and moral, and it is supported by international and regional conventions and Yemeni laws." President Al-Mashat pointed out that when countries abandon their responsibility to protect international peace and security and become supporters and accomplices of the aggressor in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Iran, the solution lies in a strong and unified stance from all. He said, "The fire will reach every country if we do not all take action and stop the scheme of the arrogant powers to violate it." He pointed out that "any hostile act targeting any Islamic country will be opposed and confronted by us. This is our position, and we have previously announced it." His Excellency the President reiterated that America will not achieve anything new if it participates with the Israeli enemy entity in its aggression against Iran, except for its further involvement, and everyone will see that. He added, "We will direct the Humanitarian Operations Center to take the necessary measures in accordance with Yemeni law," stressing that anyone who supports or participates in Israel's aggression must pay the price for their decision. Foreign intelligence conflict threatens to erupt in Aden
SANAA, June 15 (YPA) – Turkish intelligence has established a foothold in the Yemeni governorates of Aden and Hadramout to conduct its activities in southern Yemen, assisted by leaders from the Islah Party within the Leadership Council and the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition. The governorates of Aden, Lahj, Hadramout, and the areas extending along the Gulf of Aden and up to Bab al-Mandab have witnessed accelerating competition between relief programs run by the Turkish Red Crescent and the Emirates Red Crescent. Both sides conceal their intelligence activities under the guise of humanitarian work to enhance their influence in the region. Over the past two years, Turkish intelligence has emerged as an active player in competition with the Emirates Red Crescent by providing humanitarian aid, distributing sacrificial meat, and distributing fishing equipment, with the aim of gaining the loyalty of local communities. Southern political sources explained that the activities carried out by the Turkish Crescent in the southern regions are purely intelligence-based, aiming to achieve political goals in cooperation with government leaders and officials linked to the coalition, in an effort to restore the influence of the Islah Party, which has been declining since 2019. The sources indicated that Turkey is relying on these social activities after the failure of its military and security attempts to strengthen its presence in recent years. The intelligence competition between Turkey and the UAE has become clear, especially in light of both sides' efforts to achieve their political agendas through humanitarian assistance. This has exacerbated the fragility of the living and service landscape amid the complete absence of a role for the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC). The deteriorating living conditions and the inability of the coalition-backed government have transformed Aden and other areas into centers of regional and international intelligence competition involving parties such as Saudi Arabia, the United States, and the Israeli entity, in addition to Turkey and the UAE. Tensions also extend across the western coast of Yemen in the Horn of Africa, including Somalia, which overlooks the Gulf of Aden and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, raising fears of an escalating conflict over strategic influence. Turkish and Emirati intelligence interests have recently emerged in governorates such as Aden, Lahj, Hadramout, and Abyan through formal humanitarian channels, within the context of a deeper competition for influence. Turkey has sought to reshape its image in the Arab world using intellectual and media outlets, such as promoting historical series, while confronting the heavy legacy of the practices of the former Ottoman era. On the other hand, the example of the Yemeni island of Socotra illustrates how humanitarian efforts initially transformed into direct military deployments led by the UAE and Saudi Arabia, in partnership with 'Israel,' which established a military base on Abd al-Kuri Island after normalizing relations in 2020. Politicians warn of the possibility of a repetition of the Emirati-Turkish scenario in southern Yemen, where both parties seek to gain local loyalties through aid in the absence of state authority. This competition raises questions about the future of foreign influence in the region and its potential impact on local communities, especially with the continued manipulation of living conditions and services and the implementation of systematic starvation policies in Aden and the rest of the southern governorates.
