Four sentenced to 20 years in Jordan terror cell case
Shafaq News/ On Wednesday, Jordan's State Security Court issued heavy sentences of 20 years of hard labor to four individuals convicted in connection with a terrorist plot linked to the so-called Muslim Brotherhood cell.
According to the state news agency 'Petra', the court found the defendants guilty of possessing military-grade explosives, weapons, and ammunition with the intent to use them unlawfully.
The charges also included acts designed to disrupt public order and endanger national security, in violation of the country's anti-terrorism laws.
Meanwhile, the court ruled that the group's actions "undoubtedly and in reality posed a threat to public order and the safety and security of Jordanian society," noting that the weapons and explosives had been transported and hidden at multiple locations across the kingdom to avoid detection.
The case is part of a broader terror plot unveiled by the Jordanian government earlier this year, which authorities say began in 2021.

Israeli drone strike kills IRGC commander in central Iran

Three unidentified drones downed in Kurdistan Region
Shafaq News/ Security forces in Iraqi Kurdistan reported the downing of three unidentified drones on Sunday, as concerns mount over the spillover of Iran-Israel hostilities into neighboring countries. A security source told Shafaq News that an unidentified drone crashed in Biwra village of Al-Sulaymaniyah province. 'Security forces immediately arrived at the scene and launched a field investigation to determine the nature of the aircraft and the cause of the crash,' the source said. The source added that the drone is suspected to be Iranian, noting that its origin has not been confirmed. Separately, the Kurdistan Region's Counter-Terrorism Directorate announced that two additional unidentified drones were shot down in Erbil province. According to a statement, 'the two drones were rigged with explosives and were intercepted at 5:10 p.m. near the village of Darabni, in Erbil.'

Suicide bombing hits Damascus church during mass
Shafaq News/ A suicide bomber detonated an explosive belt inside the Mar Elias Church in the Al-Duwailaa neighborhood of Damascus on Sunday, killing and injuring at least 30 people, according to Shafaq News' correspondent in Syria. Eyewitnesses told Russia's Novosti that the church was targeted during an evening mass. Syrian state television, Al-Ikhbariya, confirmed the attack, stating that an individual wearing an explosive vest blew himself up inside the church. Syrian Internal Security Forces quickly sealed off the area, while emergency teams launched rescue efforts to recover victims from the rubble.
