Over 10,000 SSC answer scripts found with errors after reverification in Andhra Pradesh
VIJAYAWADA: Exposing serious lapses in evaluation, errors were found in 11,175 scripts involving 10,159 students after the reverification and recounting process of the SSC Public Examinations held in March 2025.
The School Education Department had received a record 66,363 applications - 64,251 for reverification and 2,112 for recounting—from 34,709 of the 6,14,459 students who appeared for the exam. Recounting resulted in just 308 changes, while reverification led to 10,867 corrections, marking an 18% change rate among reviewed cases.
However, gross negligence was reported in a few instances, calculated at 0.00006%. Most discrepancies stemmed from missed entries in total mark calculations or transcription errors on OMR sheets.
In a first for over a decade, the department suspended five evaluators for negligence. The suspended staff reportedly failed to detect errors despite mandatory checks by Assistant Examiners, Special Assistants and Chief Examiners under the three-tier supervision system.

8,583 students allotted seats in second phase free admissions in private schools in A.P.
Samagra Shiksha State Project Director B. Srinivasa Rao on Friday said 8,583 students had been selected in the second and final phase of lottery conducted to select students for free admissions under clause 12 (1) (C) of the Right to Education (RTE) Act in private unaided schools across the State for the academic year 2025-26. In a statement, Mr. Rao said information about the selected students will be sent via SMS to the mobile numbers of the parents, and it will also be made available on the website The students who were allotted seats must visit their respective schools with valid documents between June 21 and 28 to confirm their admissions. KU cancels degree entrance exam rank list
SLUG-Evaluation Errors T'puram: Kerala University cancelled the rank list for its direct entrance exam after a student raised complaints about irregularities. The exam was for admission to four-year degree courses. An investigation revealed many errors in evaluating the answer sheets. Around 4,000 students appeared for the exam across 16 departments. The exam was conducted using OMR sheets and teachers from various departments of the university were responsible for evaluating the answer sheets. The probe found that their negligence led to widespread discrepancies in marks. Usually, universities use machines to read OMR sheets. Kerala University initially planned to outsource the exam administration and rank list preparation to LBS Centre for Science and Technology. However, the university dropped this plan due to high costs and pressure from employee unions to conduct the exam internally. As a result, the university's examination department took charge of this matter under vice-chancellor Dr Mohanan Kunnummal.
